Chapter 329: My Friend Said She’s Fine
Ye Wenxin knew she couldn’t conceal this matter at all; everything about Fairy Fengya was too distinctive. So she started telling everyone about Fairy Fengya’s identity from the beginning, but no one believed her. Hearing Jin Xiaoqin ask her this now, Ye Wenxin actually relaxed.
“You didn’t bribe Fairy Fengya with pills to make her stand in for you, did you?” Jin Xiaoqin quickly got to the point, and Ye Wenxin nodded, restraining her body language and hiding further details about the matter.
Jin Xiaoqin seemed unable to detect anything fishy. She just sighed. “If other people knew the true Fairy Fengya was like this, how disappointed would they be?” This was also why the Azure Wings Sect kept Fairy Fengya hidden. She was too cold, almost to the point of being heartless, but everyone had deified her, imagining her as their ideal.
Some thought Fairy Fengya was tender and affectionate, some thought she was extremely enchanting, and some thought she was valiant. But Fairy Fengya wasn’t any of those things.
She lived for herself, to a terrifying degree…
“Actually, it’s not that big of a deal; she’s not an idol… Um, I mean, she’s just a cultivator, so who cares what others think? It’s a good thing, just that most of the time, she feels really unapproachable.” Ye Wenxin expressed her opinion, undoubtedly knowing Fairy Fengya better than anyone present.
She was too clumsy, with extremely low emotional intelligence. If it weren’t for her good looks, she probably would have been beaten up and thrown into a latrine long ago, leaving no Fairy Fengya to speak of.
“I didn’t realize you knew her so well,” Jin Xiaoqin said meaningfully, leaning forward a little invasively. Ye Wenxin met her gaze. “I was always watching her when she was acting as my stand-in.”
Jin Xiaoqin looked a bit surprised, finally understanding why she found Ye Wenxin so disagreeable at first, but felt an immediate connection with “Ye Meijing”. It was because “Ye Meijing” was actually the real Ye Wenxin.
“So, don’t overthink it, Master. I’ll always be your most adorable disciple.” Ye Wenxin thought Jin Xiaoqin was overthinking things again and couldn’t help but add another sentence.
Jin Xiaoqin waved her hand dismissively and instead, handed her half-finished water to Ye Wenxin. Ye Wenxin naturally took on the task of finishing it for her, and just as she took a sip, she heard Jin Xiaoqin ask another question.
“There’s one more thing I’m curious about. That master who said they wanted to be your Dao companion, is it actually Fairy Fengya?”
As soon as the words left her mouth, Ye Wenxin completely choked. Jin Xiaoqin smiled lightly, as if she had already figured out the correct answer to the ‘I have a friend’ scenario.
“Ahem, no… it’s just that I have a friend,” Ye Wenxin stammered, feeling desperate. This was one of her biggest secrets, the little ambiguous affair she had with Fairy Fengya. Although she often bragged about Fairy Fengya, knowing that others wouldn’t believe her, the situation was different now. Jin Xiaoqin completely believed her.
“Well, let’s assume for a moment, that this friend of yours is actually you. I think you should just give up,” Jin Xiaoqin said with a light smile, clearly pleased to see Ye Wenxin in such a flustered state.
As if she heard their conversation, Fairy Fengya looked over from a distance. Jin Xiaoqin shot her a smile and continued, “You said you wouldn’t betray your master, right? Then how about we team up and really get on her nerves?”
Jin Xiaoqin’s words were really tempting for Ye Wenxin. Previously, she didn’t anger Fairy Fengya by refusing her offer. Now, if she and Jin Xiaoqin could show off their strong master-disciple relationship, they might actually achieve that goal.
Ye Wenxin thought about it, and was about to agree, but then she remembered that they were still in a secret realm. She quickly said, “We’ll do it once we’re out of here. It’s not safe in this place.”
Jin Xiaoqin blushed, misinterpreting Ye Wenxin’s words. Despite knowing Ye Wenxin’s poor reputation in the Azure Wings Sect, Jin Xiaoqin found herself irresistibly drawn by a certain feeling.
“Mm, keep massaging,” Jin Xiaoqin said, not refusing as she fully stretched out her legs and watched Ye Wenxin intently. She couldn’t help but add, “I have a friend…”
Before she could finish, both of them burst into laughter.
The atmosphere between them remained as amicable as ever. Meanwhile, Fairy Fengya still stood at a distance, her white robes fluttering despite the absence of wind.
Zhu Ling: Mistress, this master-disciple pair is too much!
Fairy Fengya: I know.
Zhu Ling: But why don’t you seem emotionally affected this time?
Zhu Ling couldn’t understand Fairy Fengya’s feelings this time and thus asked her directly.
Fairy Fengya: Zhu Ling, you always say that I’m the true chosen one, that anything I want is within my grasp.
Zhu Ling: Yes, you are one in a million, a woman chosen by the heavens, Mistress.
Fairy Fengya: Then why am I not able to obtain what I desire?
Zhu Ling: ???
Zhu Ling: Mistress, make it clear—what exactly is it that you want!?
However, Fairy Fengya did not answer. She looked again at the distant villa, then at the Cold Soul Sword in her hand, seemingly lost in thought.
Ye Wenxin still didn’t know about Fairy Fengya’s daily routine with Great Grandma, and didn’t care if Fairy Fengya had overheard her plan. As long as she remained as Jin Xiaoqin’s disciple, Fairy Fengya would continue to chase after her.
“Rebellious disciple, your master is thirsty.”
“Your master is hungry.”
Jin Xiaoqin became increasingly reliant on Ye Wenxin. Given that she was still a patient, Ye Wenxin dutifully served her. Jin Xiaoqin seemed to enjoy this treatment and, after Ye Wenxin finished her tasks, pinched her cheek again, saying, “Hmm, not bad. When there’s a chance, I’ll give you a sweet little reward to taste.”
Jin Xiaoqin was an average beauty, but her womanly charm was undeniable when speaking in such a manner. It was hard for Ye Wenxin to believe that someone like Jin Xiaoqin could be so alluring.
She often felt that if they were alone on a quiet night, she might not be able to resist her sinful thoughts and take Jin Xiaoqin’s virginity.
However, those sinful thoughts quickly vanished as night fell again. The Yin Fetuses reappeared, seemingly impossible to fully eradicate. Ye Wenxin had no choice but to stop idling and use her dagger to kill a few of them.
“Disciple, not to criticize you, but your stance with the dagger is really unsightly,” Jin Xiaoqin remarked, watching Ye Wenxin wield her weapon. It was hard for her to imagine that she had taken in such an odd disciple.
Despite her clumsiness, Ye Wenxin’s talent was undeniable, as she had been the true first-place candidate at the recruitment assembly.
Though she was smart, it seemed she couldn’t wield anything larger than a silver needle.
Ye Wenxin felt a bit aggrieved by the criticism, only to see Jin Xiaoqin throw her the greataxe. Feeling the weight of the axe, Ye Wenxin casually tossed it, killing a Yin Fetus. However, she was unsure whether it was due to the axe’s weight or her forceful throw; she couldn’t get the axe out after pulling for so long, embarrassing herself.
Jin Xiaoqin shook her head in exasperation, not knowing how to assess this odd disciple’s talent. With a sigh, she remarked, “Running away suits you better. I’ll find some evasion techniques for you to learn later.” The scorn in her voice was clear, and Ye Wenxin couldn’t find a single word to rebut. She just silently grumbled about her role.
The minor character Ye Wenxin, also known as Demon Lord Gu Qingcheng, prided herself on being the greatest martial artist in the world, yet she was a weakling who couldn’t even handle a weapon. Moreover, her only skill was Flower Burial!
