Chapter 333: When Did You Get Here?

Warning: Mentions of suicide.

If she were to write a farewell letter, the recipient would be Long Qingyue. However, writing a farewell letter to Long Qingyue felt too strange. Besides, if there were people with a high chance of survival among those present, she would definitely rank second.

“You have your Ling Jue, Xiao Zhang, Hanyan…” Long Qing’er listed a bunch of names effortlessly, as if everyone in the Azure Wings Sect knew about Ye Wenxin’s entanglements with numerous cultivators, making her the most successful player in the sect’s history.

“Um, I’ll write to Big Brother Ling then,” Ye Wenxin decided after thinking for a moment. She finally took the parchment and brush and wrote a few words.

[All is well.]

She used characters from Earth to prevent others from reading the contents, and on the outside, she just wrote Ling Jue’s name. Long Qing’er watched as Ye Wenxin handed the letter to a senior brother responsible for safeguarding the wills.

“Just one letter? Don’t you have many concerns?” Long Qing’er asked again, seemingly trying to probe just how many lovers Ye Wenxin had.

“Let’s leave it at that for now,” Ye Wenxin responded awkwardly, waving her hand. The moment she spoke, she realized the ambiguity in her words, so she decided to say nothing more.

Long Qing’er didn’t press further. She glanced at Fairy Fengya, sighed, and ultimately chose not to disturb her. Instead, she busied herself with packing, conserving her energy for the following day.

Ye Wenxin also began sorting through her bag of holding, and found many unused items inside. There was a pile of books and a heap of food, but very few practical items.

Jin Xiaoqin still refused to speak to her, instead engaging in a lively conversation with Hei Haowen. Ye Wenxin felt that Jin Xiaoqin’s expressions were too deliberate, so she pretended they were genuinely in a cold war. She didn’t speak to Jin Xiaoqin all night and eventually drifted off until dawn.

“Xiao Feng, we’re leaving now.” Long Qing’er wanted to hug Fairy Fengya but ultimately lacked the courage. Instead, she gave a light bow before returning to the team. Ye Wenxin glanced around and saw Jin Xiaoqin in the distance, pretending to sleep but clearly filled with worry.

She had to admit, among all her masters, this master was the one who cared for her the most.

Ye Wenxin also gave a light bow from afar without saying much more, before quickly joining the others as they headed towards the villa.

The dense black fog swallowed everything around them. Ye Wenxin waved the flag, slightly improving visibility. The air was now filled with an even stronger stench of blood compared to before. Each step she took felt strange, as if she were walking on corpses. She avoided looking at the ground, fearing that doing so would make her too scared to continue.

Everyone moved cautiously, constantly on guard against their surroundings.

Perhaps due to it being daytime, the surrounding Yin Fetuses were not very active. They traveled for an entire day without encountering much danger. However, by nightfall, various Yin Fetuses gathered again, densely occupying every corner.

One day, two days…

Days blurred as the team wandered with their lost sense of direction, as if they were ensnared in a cloud of mist. One of the senior brothers had a nervous breakdown and ultimately took his own life.

The team of five was reduced to four, and they found themselves struggling even more against the increasingly rampant Yin Fetuses.

Ye Wenxin continued to follow along, feeling as if they were merely wandering in circles. Despite exploring for many days, they still couldn’t locate the nexus of the illusion array.

Eventually, the second senior brother began to lose his sanity. He frantically crashed into rocks, and only when he felt death approaching did he finally show a hint of a relieved smile.

It was the darkness that was frightening, not danger. The unknown lurking within, and the uncertainty of how it would corrode and consume the mind.

Ye Wenxin was beginning to lose patience, waiting for the third senior brother to go mad so she could safely escort Long Qing’er out. Unexpectedly, it was Long Qing’er who first showed signs of breaking. She almost attempted to kill herself before Ye Wenxin knocked her out.

Ye Wenxin exchanged glances with the remaining senior brother before they kept going. Despite his repeated offers to carry Long Qing’er, Ye Wenxin refused.

Long Qing’er remained unconscious, leaving Ye Wenxin to continue shouldering her burden. Oddly, the senior brother showed no signs of mental breakdown; he simply followed Ye Wenxin closely as they wandered.

Half a day later, Ye Wenxin seemed to finally snap, letting out a scream of frustration. The senior brother’s lips curled into a slight smile, but the next second, he saw Ye Wenxin standing before him with clear eyes, a hint of mockery in her gaze.

“Were you waiting for me to go mad?” Ye Wenxin coldly asked, her tone devoid of any doubt. The senior brother’s expression stiffened, and in an instant, the human facade burst apart, revealing an eight-armed mutated Yin Fetus that lunged at Ye Wenxin.

Ye Wenxin calmly unleashed Flower Burial, and before the Yin Fetus could attack, it had already transformed into fallen petals scattered on the ground. In a moment, the surrounding mist dissipated, and Ye Wenxin, momentarily dazed, opened her eyes to find herself lying on the ground.

Glancing around, she saw the other four disciples also lying on the ground. It turned out that as soon as they stepped inside, they entered into an illusion. The surrounding Yin Fetuses had already closed in, and if Ye Wenxin hadn’t awakened from the dream just now, she would have become their meal like the others.

Slowly rising, she checked on the others’ conditions. Apart from Long Qing’er, the rest had died peacefully in their dream-induced deaths. With the situation now clear, Ye Wenxin was finally free to unleash her full power.

Flowers bloomed with vibrant red petals, absorbing the Yin Fetuses’ green blood and transforming into toxic dark green blossoms. The sight was both eerie and bewitching. In just a single moment, all the Yin Fetuses were obliterated.

Ye Wenxin sighed in relief and was about to hoist Long Qing’er onto her shoulder when she noticed a white silhouette in the distance. Looking again, she saw that Fairy Fengya had appeared there at some point. A few dark green flowers floated around her, and it seemed she had been watching for quite some time.

“When did you get here?” asked Ye Wenxin, feeling a sudden sense of unease as she realized she hadn’t sensed Fairy Fengya’s presence.

“Just now,” Fairy Fengya replied, walking naturally towards Ye Wenxin and glancing at Long Qing’er on her shoulder.

Ye Wenxin, thinking Fairy Fengya was finally concerned about Long Qing’er, explained, “Don’t worry, I didn’t harm your adorable disciple.” As soon as the words left her mouth, she realized they carried a double meaning.
