They stayed at home until the day before the full moon banquet, when Gu Yanqing came to pick them up.
Gu Yanqing had always been good with kids.
He had spoiled Koukou a lot, and now with the addition of a little princess, he wanted to spoil her even more.
Unfortunately, Zhenzhen only slept and drank milk, showing little interest in the world, occasionally glancing around when she didn’t want to sleep.
When Gu Yanqing arrived, he found Zhenzhen had just finished her milk.
He picked her up, and Qiao Wanqing said, “She needs a diaper change.”
“I’ll change it.”
Gu Yanqing, experienced from having one child already, handled the task with ease.
However, he was careful with Zhenzhen’s small arms and legs.
“It looks like she’s pooped.”
“Again?” Qiao Wanqing checked and confirmed. “I’ll go get some water.”
Koukou watched Gu Yanqing change Zhenzhen’s diaper.
Gu Yanqing handed the used diaper to him and said, “Can you help by throwing this dirty diaper outside?”
To encourage Koukou to help out with small tasks, Gu Yanqing and Qiao Wanqing often asked him to do simple things.
But Koukou refused.
He stepped back, covered his nose with one hand, and waved his other hand, saying, “No, no, no, it’s stinky.”
“Oh, so you know it’s stinky,” Gu Yanqing said with a light laugh as he placed the diaper aside. “You used to love pooping in your diapers and didn’t want to be changed. Remember how sometimes I had to wash you, and your little bottom would be covered in poop? It was so stinky, do you remember?”
When Koukou was a little over two years old, he could take off his pants and use the toilet by himself, so he no longer needed diapers.
Regarding his past, Koukou confidently said, “I don’t remember.”
“It’s okay, Daddy took photos. I’ll show you,” Gu Yanqing teased.
“No!” Koukou sternly refused.
“It’s okay, just a look. Where’s my phone?”
Before Qiao Wanqing could return with hot water, Gu Yanqing turned to find his phone, planning to show the photos to Koukou to remind him of his own messy past.
He wanted to stop Koukou from constantly calling his sister ugly and smelly.
“I’ll throw this away,” Koukou pointed to the diaper Gu Yanqing had placed on the floor. “You can’t take it out again, okay?”
Gu Yanqing raised an eyebrow, seeing how much Koukou didn’t want to face his past, and barely held back his laughter. “Alright.”
Satisfied with Gu Yanqing’s promise, Koukou covered his nose with one hand in disgust and grabbed the diaper with the other.
He quickly ran outside to dispose of it.
Just then, Qiao Wanqing came in with hot water and caught a glimpse of Koukou’s small back running away.
She asked where he was going but received no response.
Shaking her head, she entered the room and asked Gu Yanqing, “Why was Koukou running so fast? Did he sneak a snack again?”
“No, he went to throw away Zhenzhen’s diaper.”
“Oh,” Qiao Wanqing replied, a bit troubled. “Why does it seem like Koukou doesn’t like Zhenzhen much? He doesn’t seem to like her even a tenth as much as he likes Yuan Yuan.”
Koukou adored Yuan Yuan, always wanting to be with him.
If it were up to him, they’d live together so they could play every day.
To Koukou, Zhenzhen was probably just like staying in the same house as Uncle Qing and the others; he didn’t seem very interested in interacting with her.
“He’s at an age where he prefers kids who can run around and play. Zhenzhen is too small for him to interact with or carry, so he’s not really feeling it. It’ll be better when she’s older,” Gu Yanqing said.
Qiao Wanqing understood the reasoning, but she still felt a bit frustrated.
She had hoped Koukou would be a doting older brother, but it seemed he was more interested in his own toys and activities.
Gu Yanqing finished changing Zhenzhen, and Qiao Wanqing applied some baby powder and put on a clean diaper. Zhenzhen was all set and tidy now.
Zhenzhen was still too young to be aware of her surroundings.
Even if she was awake, she just stared at one spot and didn’t respond much to sounds or other stimuli.
“Was Koukou like this when he was a baby?” Gu Yanqing asked.
He wasn’t used to such young babies and found Zhenzhen’s vacant stare a bit odd.
“Yes, Koukou was similar. He slept a lot and was quite active when he was older. But at one month, he started smiling,” Qiao Wanqing explained.
Gu Yanqing felt a bit melancholic.
If Koukou was already smiling at one month, what about their daughter?
Well, it’s fine if she’s not too bright—being a bit silly like Qiao Wanqing was okay.
Qiao Wanqing didn’t realize that in her husband’s mind, she might be categorized as the “silly” type of woman.
Otherwise, Gu Yanqing might have needed to stay abstinent a bit longer to lift the ban…
Of course, in Gu Yanqing’s view, calling someone silly wasn’t an insult.
The women he considered impressive were those like Tan Xin, who had high emotional and intellectual intelligence, a strategic mind, or those who had achieved remarkable success at a young age.
…
On Saturday, it was time for Zhenzhen’s full moon banquet in City C.
Tang Yueyue came over to their house in the morning and went with them to the hotel.
The two of them, now deeply in love and inseparable, even entered the room holding hands.
Koukou, always quick-witted, saw them and loudly called out, “Godfather, godmother!”
By now, Tang Yueyue was no longer shy. She responded cheerfully, “Yes, godson!”
Tang Yueyue, understanding children well, had brought plenty of treats for Koukou, instantly winning his heart.
Her status as godmother was greatly elevated, even earning her a sweet kiss from Koukou.
After kissing Tang Yueyue, Koukou noticed his godfather’s slightly odd expression.
Thinking Gu Yanqing was jealous of Tang Yueyue for getting a kiss while he didn’t, Koukou said, “Godfather, kiss kiss~”
Qi Xing: “…”
Qi Xing wasn’t as fond of kids as Tang Yueyue and didn’t quite see the fun in being kissed by them.
However, with Koukou offering a kiss, he had no choice but to bend down and turn his cheek for a kiss.
After kissing him, Koukou wiped his mouth and said, “Godfather’s face is prickly!”
Qi Xing: “…”
He had a thick beard and, although he had shaved for a date with Tang Yueyue a couple of days ago, it had already grown stubbly and prickled Koukou’s tender lips.
Qiao Wanqing laughed and asked, “Does godmother’s face have prickles?”
“No,” Koukou replied.
“What about mommy and daddy?”
Koukou thought for a moment, “Daddy does. Mommy… Mommy does too!”
Qiao Wanqing: “…”
How did she end up having prickles?
Tang Yueyue was laughing at Koukou, saying, “Godson, you’re such a little treasure!”
Having a baby like him around made things so lively and not at all lonely.
Koukou accepted the compliment without modesty and ran off with some snacks.
Gu Yanqing put Zhenzhen to sleep in her room.
When he came out and saw Tang Yueyue and the others, he was a bit surprised. “So early?”
“Yes,” Tang Yueyue replied, “We couldn’t wait to come and see my adorable goddaughter.”
Qi Xing was more reserved than Tang Yueyue. He nodded and said, “Mr. Gu.”
“No need to be so formal in your own home,” Qiao Wanqing said. “We’re family now.”
“Okay,” Qi Xing replied politely.
Gu Yanqing and the guests chatted for a while.
When Tang Yueyue went to check on Zhenzhen, Qi Xing stayed in the living room with Gu Yanqing for tea and conversation.
“This is perfect,” Gu Yanqing said. “I actually needed to discuss something with Qi Xing. Let’s go to the study.”
Qi Xing thought, “……”
Poor Qi Xing, who had become a “relative” to his boss.
Every time he came with Tang Yueyue, it seemed to be when he had a small “tail” to deal with, and Gu Yanqing would always grab him.
Gu Yanqing and Qi Xing went to the study, while Tang Yueyue went to the room to see the sleeping Zhenzhen.
“My goddaughter is so cute,” Tang Yueyue said, looking at baby Zhenzhen’s sleeping face. “I really want to give her a kiss.”
“Go ahead,” Qiao Wanqing laughed, “You’ve always been like this with Koukou. Since you love kids so much, why don’t you have one yourself?”
“I’ll have one after I get married,” Tang Yueyue said.
“When do you two plan to get married? It’s about time, isn’t it?” Qiao Wanqing asked.
They had known each other for over a year, and since this year was nearly over, they would have to wait until next year.
That meant they would have been dating for about a year and a half by then, which seemed long enough.
“If our company can earn a net profit of 3 million yuan this year, we’ll get married!” Tang Yueyue declared, clenching her fist.
Qiao Wanqing: “…And if you don’t reach that goal, does that mean you won’t get married?”
“Then we’ll wait until we make 5 million yuan next year and get married then.”
“…”
This year, their company had mostly been operating at a loss in the first half.
If it weren’t for the government subsidy, Qiao Wanqing might not have even been able to buy her house.
It was only in the second half of the year that they started to make real money, though initially, it was very little.
Now, they were making about 500,000 yuan a month, which was quite impressive.
On Singles’ Day (November 11th), their sales reached 200,000 yuan in just one day, and on Double Twelve (December 12th), sales were slightly lower but still substantial.
Even so, considering their losses from earlier in the year, they still had some way to go to reach a net profit of 3 million yuan.
Next year, hitting 5 million yuan seemed more feasible.
Recently, their store had started offering many local specialties from nearby counties, such as salty peanuts, roasted chestnuts, and dried strawberries.
The government endorsed these products as long as they were locally produced in a specific county.
In truth, Tang Yueyue wasn’t in a rush to get married.
Even if they reached the 5 million yuan target by mid-next year, setting a wedding date would likely push the ceremony to after National Day or even the end of the year.
However, Qiao Wanqing laughed and said, “Are you banking on the fact that the big shopping waves for this year are over, so you can avoid reaching 3 million and delay the wedding?”
Tang Yueyue grinned, “Of course! Do you think I’m the kind of person who digs a hole for myself to jump into?”
Qiao Wanqing chuckled, “Don’t forget, I was the one who made winter bamboo shoots newsworthy last year.”
Tang Yueyue was speechless.
“So,” Qiao Wanqing patted her shoulder, “Don’t go back on your word, Yueyue.”
In C City, the full-month banquet mostly included Gu Yanqing and Qiao Wanqing’s friends, with only a few relatives from Qiao Wanqing’s side.
As a result, the event was split into two parts: after the meal, Gu Yanqing had booked a KTV room for those who enjoyed singing to continue the celebration. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed themselves thoroughly.
After the full-month banquet, Qiao Wanqing began looking for a new location for their studio.
She planned to rent a high-end space that could accommodate a team of around 50 people.
This way, they wouldn’t need to move again until their brand gained significant recognition and could compete with major online snack brands.
It was a lengthy process, and if things didn’t go well, they might never reach that level.
But both Qiao Wanqing and Tang Yueyue were confident in their company’s potential.
Zhenzhen was growing day by day.
At two months old, her beautiful genes began to shine through.
She started to lose the wrinkled appearance from birth, her skin became fairer, and she looked like a little snowball, especially adorable.
With his sister becoming so beautiful, Koukou finally took more notice of her and showed her more attention.
“Do you like your sister now?” Qiao Wanqing asked him.
“I like her,” Koukou said, using his hands to indicate a large size, “I like her this much.”
Koukou had his own way of measuring his affection.
For Yuanyuan, it was as big as he could spread his arms.
When Qiao Wanqing and Gu Yanqing were good to him, he showed the same level of affection.
But if he was denied snacks or was scolded for mischief, his liking would shrink to the size of a palm.
As for others, it all depended on Koukou’s mood.
“You used to like her just a little,” Qiao Wanqing said, mimicking the small size he used to show. “Why has it grown so much now?”
“Because my sister has become prettier,” Koukou said very realistically.
“So, Koukou thinks, is it your sister who is pretty, or are you pretty?”
Without hesitation, Koukou replied, “Me!”
