Chapter 3: “This CEO Persona is Wrong”
Zhou Jian dropped Mu Ruo off at her home.
In the original novel, the white moonlight and the CEO were married but lived separately, coming together only for certain key events.
When Mu Ruo got out of the car, she was stunned by the appearance of the villa.
In the novel, the white moonlight lived alone in an apartment.
She hadn’t expected to live alone in such a large villa.
Mu Ruo couldn’t understand why the white moonlight would forsake her life as a wealthy young lady to become a sycophant for the male lead.
In her original world, Mu Ruo was surrounded by many wealthy second-generation individuals due to her profession.
But she herself was quite poor, having left early to make a living to cover her father’s medical expenses.
The villa’s butler, upon seeing Mu Ruo, displayed a momentary surprise but still welcomed her in, saying, “Madam, you’re back.”
The butler was the stereotypical middle-aged man in a suit, looking very attentive and considerate.
Hearing this title suddenly made Mu Ruo feel it was a bit strange, as if she were in a drama.
To avoid breaking character and raising suspicion, Mu Ruo nodded lightly and said nothing more.
Once she returned to her room, she let out a long sigh of relief.
No matter what, since she had entered this world from the book, if she couldn’t go back, she would avoid mimicking the original’s actions and try to stay as far from the male and female leads as possible, living her own life and avoiding a tragic end.
Since she was here, she would settle in and adapt to the environment for a few days before considering other matters.
The original owner’s phone was surprisingly still functional despite the water damage.
When she turned it on, she received a message from Lu Beichen: “Mu Ruo, think about today’s events. I remember you weren’t so obsessed with money before.”
Mu Ruo couldn’t be bothered to respond. She browsed through her contacts.
To be honest, the novel was so lengthy that the cannon fodder characters came one after another.
Apart from some key main and supporting character names, Mu Ruo hadn’t remembered many names.
…She still didn’t know the name of the CEO in the book who casually swiped his card.
Flipping through her contacts, Mu Ruo couldn’t recall many names; the original owner had saved too many numbers.
Until she came across a contact labeled “Fu,” she suddenly remembered that this big shot seemed to be from the Fu family, a top aristocratic family in Rongcheng.
After a day by the swimming pool with the smell of disinfectant, Mu Ruo took a shower and was so exhausted that she fell asleep as soon as she touched the pillow.
……
Fu Jianzhi walked in, and upon seeing him, Butler Li quickly approached: “Sir, Madam actually came back today… A young man brought her back.”
Fu Jianzhi’s cold, narrow eyes showed no emotions as he nodded slightly.
Butler Li knew that his employer and wife had no emotional connection.
There was a man who liked Madam during her school days, but after she went abroad, that man started dating someone else.
Fu Jianzhi chose to marry her because of this, and they signed a marriage agreement to divorce after the old master passed away.
Butler Li had been with Fu Jianzhi for many years and understood his cold and unfeeling nature.
Fu Jianzhi was like a perfect work machine, focused solely on expanding his business empire and indifferent to most people around him.
Mu Ruo was beautiful, outstanding in demeanor, and had a good background. Additionally, she was not clingy or demanding, making her a perfect choice as a marriage decoration.
The couple lived separately, with Madam rarely visiting this residence. Today, for some unknown reason, she had returned.
In the middle of the night, Mu Ruo woke up feeling thirsty.
She got out of bed and groggily went to find something to drink.
As she descended the stairs, Mu Ruo saw a figure and instinctively grabbed him, asking, “Excuse me, where is the refrigerator?”
Without waiting for a response, Mu Ruo heard a cough: “Madam, please follow me. Sir is going to rest.”
Mu Ruo looked up and saw a strikingly handsome face with deep, well-defined features. Unlike Lu Beichen’s flashy demeanor, this person had an enigmatic aura. Although his eyes were extremely cold, he gave off a steady and composed impression.
Fu Jianzhi gently removed Mu Ruo’s delicate wrist from his arm and said, “The kitchen is ahead.”
Mu Ruo was momentarily stunned.
Fu Jianzhi added with a smile, “The room is very cold. It’s not good for your health to walk barefoot on the floor.”
“Thank you.”
Mu Ruo glanced at him again. If she was correct, this person should be the top figure in the food chain from the book, right?
Hmm.
Why didn’t he seem at all the domineering, charming type?
Instead, his demeanor was somewhat gentle, giving a refreshing, spring-like feeling.
Was this really the top figure from the book?
Mu Ruo took a bottle of cold water from the refrigerator, unscrewed the cap, and took a sip. She immediately felt a slight chill.
She looked at the butler and asked, “Why is Mr. Fu back so late?”
Butler Li responded smoothly, “Sir has been very busy with work. If Madam ever wants to speak with him, you can call me, and I will pass on the message.”
After hearing Butler Li’s reply, Mu Ruo confirmed that the person she had just seen was indeed the top figure from the Fu family.
In terms of image and demeanor, Fu Jianzhi was far superior to the male lead, Lu Beichen.
Mu Ruo was curious about why the original character preferred Lu Beichen, who was easily deceived by the white moonlight, over such an outstanding man as Fu Jianzhi.
Despite her curiosity, she couldn’t let it show.
If someone found out she had entered this world, she might end up being experimented on…
…Just kidding.
Even though it was summer, the air conditioning in the room was set very high. Mu Ruo felt the coldness rising from the floor as she walked barefoot.
Butler Li spoke, “It’s already quite late. Madam should rest in your room now.”
“Okay.”
Mu Ruo walked toward her room, chatting casually with Butler Li, “Mr. Fu seems to have a good temperament.”
Butler Li replied with a noncommittal “Mm.”
The kind of “good” that can still be smiling while committing crimes.
As the young master of the Fu family, Fu Jianzhi certainly had the basic courtesy towards ladies.
The less people knew him, the more they would think of him as an aloof but down-to-earth top figure.
The more they knew him, the more they would realize his dangerous side.
Mu Ruo was somewhat concerned that she might end up sharing a room with this top figure tonight.
The original book said that the couple had no emotional connection and often lived separately, but it didn’t elaborate on their bed arrangements.
Even if the person was more attractive than any male celebrity Mu Ruo had seen, she wasn’t mentally prepared for this.
She opened the door to her room.
Lucky.
The room was completely empty.
It seemed that this couple indeed slept in separate beds.
