Chapter 37
Before Shen Siyan could say anything, the driver started laughing.
He glanced at Shen Siyan and asked, “Did the young master not sleep well?”
Shen Siyan hummed and replied lightly, “A little bit.”
He turned around and glanced at Shen Man. “Mom, don’t bother me.”
Shen Man raised her eyebrows. “If you weren’t so melancholy, I wouldn’t want to bother with you.”
Shen Siyan: “…”
He paused and said, “Then I’ll collect it.”
Shen Guangyuan was amused by the mother and son. “That’s enough.”
He glanced at Shen Siyan. “What trouble have you encountered?”
“No.”
Shen Siyan was silent for a while. “Don’t worry about me; I will always feel unhappy.”
Shen Man: “Oh.”
She said disdainfully, “Young people are always in a bad mood. I don’t understand.”
“…”
Shen Siyan did not refute her words. He leaned his wrists against the car window and closed his eyes to rest.
Seeing him like this, Shen Man couldn’t bear to say anything more and instantly fell silent.
After arriving at his grandfather’s house, Shen Siyan still had the expression as if everyone owed him a million—oh no, a hundred million.
Shen Man really couldn’t bear to watch it anymore, so she told him to calm down or go home first.
Shen Siyan finally felt a little more normal.
“Do you think Shen Siyan is possessed by something?” Shen Man looked at Shen Siyan worriedly, feeling uneasy. “I always feel that his mood is too strange.”
Shen Guangyuan couldn’t explain it either.
He patted the back of Shen Man’s hand to comfort her. “It’s okay. I think he will be fine tomorrow.”
“Sure?”
“Maybe. If not, invite Zhilu to come to our house for dinner tonight. He won’t look like that anymore.”
Hearing this, Shen Man’s eyes lit up, and she clapped her hands. “Good idea.”
Shen Guangyuan: “…”
He smiled helplessly.
“I’ll send a message to Zhilu and make an appointment in advance.”
“Good.”
After Shen Man left, Shen Guangyuan took two glasses of water and went to Shen Siyan.
“Drink water?”
Shen Siyan looked at him. “Thank you, Dad.”
Shen Guangyuan stared at him for a long while, not knowing what to say for a moment. In fact, he seldom communicated with Shen Siyan. Generally speaking, the father and son knew each other’s personalities and rarely talked about anything.
As grown men, they were not pretentious people. Some of the things they talked about were quite boring.
But Shen Siyan was obviously not right, and Shen Guangyuan couldn’t pretend he knew nothing.
He was silent for a while, then looked at him. “Did you have a fight with Zhilu?”
Shen Siyan paused, holding the cup, and shook his head. “No.”
He looked at him with amusement. “Dad, what are you talking about? Did Mom ask you to come?”
Shen Guangyuan nodded. “Don’t let your mother worry.”
“I know.”
Shen Siyan turned his head and looked at the yard outside. The sunlight had already filled the entire yard. Just looking at it made people feel hot and not dare to go out.
He stared at it for a while and said, “I’m fine; don’t worry about it.”
Shen Guangyuan raised his eyebrows. “Are you sure?”
“Um.”
“Then you…” Shen Guangyuan frowned. “Is your mood not right?”
Shen Siyan looked slightly stunned and said, “It was just a dream.”
Shen Guangyuan looked at him in surprise.
Shen Siyan lowered his eyes and played with the cup in his hand. “I dreamed of something not so good.”
Shen Guangyuan understood. “Okay, if you don’t want to say it, then don’t say it.”
He patted Shen Siyan’s shoulder and stood up. “Digest it yourself.”
“Got it.”
After Shen Guangyuan left, Shen Siyan stared fixedly at a place not far away. His eyes seemed to have no fixed focus and were very vague.
He didn’t know what to say, nor did he want to say it.
Shen Man looked at her husband, who had gone and returned, and lowered her voice. “Did you find out anything?”
Shen Guangyuan shook his head. “He didn’t say.”
Shen Man’s eyes widened. “Then let him be like this?”
Shen Guangyuan said “Hmm,” smiled, and said, “Aren’t all young people like this? It’s not a big deal; don’t worry about it.”
“……Fine.”
Shen Man had no choice. “At this moment, I would rather he do something bad than see him like this.”
Shen Guangyuan choked.
He laughed. “It’s not like he’s dying.”
Shen Man looked at him and said, “You don’t understand.”
Shen Guangyuan smiled and comforted her, then went to chat with the elders.
_
When Xu Zhilu woke up, it was already ten o’clock in the morning.
It had been a long time since she had slept for such a long time, and she was still a little dazed when she woke up.
After a while, she slowly lifted the quilt and got out of bed.
After washing her face with cold water, she finally came to her senses.
She went downstairs with her cell phone and saw the messages from Shen Man and Shen Siyan.
Xu Zhilu thought for a while and replied to Shen Man, “Okay, Aunt Shen, I will come to your house for dinner tonight.”
After replying, she looked at Shen Siyan’s message and replied with a question mark.
“Aunt Liu.”
“Zhilu is awake.” Aunt Liu looked back at her. “Are you hungry? What do you want to eat?”
Xu Zhilu looked around. “Is everyone else not home?”
Aunt Liu smiled and nodded. “Yes, they went out early this morning.”
Hearing this, Xu Zhilu’s eyes lit up. “I want to eat the noodles made by Aunt Liu.”
Aunt Liu laughed and nodded. “Okay, go wait outside. Aunt Liu will make them for you now.”
Aunt Liu’s cooking skills were great. If it weren’t for the fact that living at home was too noisy and made Xu Zhilu upset, she would definitely not want to move to the school.
After eating the noodles, Xu Zhilu felt much more energetic.
She went back to her room and packed up the things she hadn’t finished completely yesterday. Since she had been out for such a long time this time, Xu Zhilu also bought some small gifts.
She had packed them in a box yesterday and forgotten to give them to Xin An’an.
After taking out all the gifts, Xu Zhilu thought about giving them to Aunt Shen and Shen Siyan next door in the evening.
She stared at the two gifts, and the words Tang Meng and Xin An’an inexplicably emerged in her mind.
It wasn’t just the two of them who had the same feeling. She also vaguely noticed that Shen Siyan seemed to have changed a lot.
He had become a little unrecognizable to her.
It felt like he was a different person. Xu Zhilu couldn’t quite describe it. In short, he was very different from before.
Although he was still arrogant, there were times when he seemed to take the initiative to bow his head and admit defeat.
Xu Zhilu reached out and rubbed her temple, wondering if she was overthinking.
She always felt that Shen Siyan’s change was quite abrupt, just like her own personality had changed significantly.
Xu Zhilu thought about it for a long time but still couldn’t figure it out.
In the end, she could only sigh quietly.
_
In the evening, Xu Zhilu had dinner at Shen’s house.
Shen Siyan also brought her some pickled duck, and Shen Man was as nice to her as ever.
She really liked the atmosphere of this family. Although Father Shen looked very serious and had a kind of leadership authority, he did not put pressure on people. Instead, it was a comfortable way for elders and younger generations to get along and communicate with each other.
Xu Zhilu could still chat with him occasionally.
“Does Zhilu have a university she wants to go to?”
Xu Zhilu nodded. “Yes.”
Shen Guangyuan smiled and asked, “Which one have you decided on?”
“A big one.”
Shen Guangyuan was startled, then smiled and said, “Good target.”
Xu Zhilu smiled sheepishly. “I hope so.”
Shen Guangyuan nodded. “It will be fine; don’t worry.”
“Um.”
Speaking of this, Shen Guangyuan glanced at Shen Siyan. “Shen Siyan, do you have any goals?”
Shen Siyan: “…”
He was looking down at his phone and was caught off guard when he was called. He paused for a moment and said, “Yes.”
“Where is it?”
Not only Shen Guangyuan but even Xu Zhilu looked at him curiously.
In her previous life, Xu Zhilu had attended University C, which was a little less prestigious but still a good school. Her score at that time was still a bit short of University A.
As for Shen Siyan, if she remembered correctly, he was admitted to University C with a passing score and chose a not-so-good major. The two became classmates.
Shen Siyan’s finger stayed on the screen for a moment, and he said lightly, “Keep it a secret.”
Shen Man listened and said with disdain, “Maybe it’s the third-rate university next door to us.”
Xu Zhilu couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
Shen Siyan looked at her.
“Mom, can you have a little confidence in me?”
Shen Man said without hesitation, “No.”
She was very direct. “As you are now, it’s hard for me, your mother, to have any confidence in you.”
Shen Siyan had no choice but to say no more to the two of them.
He continued playing his game. “You guys chat; I don’t know if it’s okay for me to stay silent.”
Shen Guangyuan was helpless. “Why are you always playing games?”
Shen Siyan paused and turned off his phone.
He sat up straight. “Come on, you guys talk; I’ll just listen.”
Three people: “…”
After chatting for a while, Xu Zhilu followed Shen Siyan to the room to tutor him.
She hadn’t been here for over a month and was a little surprised when she went in.
Shen Siyan glanced at her. “What’s wrong?”
Xu Zhilu pointed at the things on his wall and asked, “Is that the book you’re reading?”
Shen Siyan looked over and said, “No.”
Xu Zhilu: “Oh.”
She breathed a sigh of relief. “I thought you were going to become an arts high school student instead.”
Shen Siyan: “…”
