Chapter 22: Injuring Orc Wude
“You want to know what makes you different from us? Actually, since your birth in our tribe, the Chief prophesied that you possess extraordinary powers and could change this world.”
Bafu paused, then continued, “When you were born, your parents had already died. Besides the Chief, no one dared to raise you. Everyone believed you were a bad omen.”
Fei Li was confused, he had no memories of the original owner and knew nothing about their background.
“The Chief had said that your extraordinary abilities would soon awaken, but before that could happen, our tribe was attacked by the Wolf Tribe and was annihilated. Our people believed you would bring disaster to the world. Even though we survived under the Wolf Tribe, no one wanted to get close to you.”
Before Fei Li could fully grasp Bafu’s words, a furious roar from an orc came from nearby.
“What are you doing? I told you to fetch water, and you’re slacking off here? Do you want to go without food?”
The angry voice grew closer, and a burly orc approached the two. He roughly grabbed Bafu, his eyes fierce and intimidating.
Bafu looked at the orc with fear and trembled as he said, “I wasn’t slacking off. It was him. He came to find me, and I just talked to him for a moment. I’ll get the water right away.”
The orc released Bafu and kicked him hard in the rear, sending him flying.
“Who are you? I’ve never seen you before,” the orc, Wude, looked Fei Li up and down, his expression suddenly changed.
In primitive tribes, males typically wore simple clothing, just animal skins wrapped around their waists.
Due to years of exposure to the sun and wind, most males had dark skin, and those with a wheat-colored complexion like Luo Sang were rare.
Fei Li’s yellow skin made him even more unusual.
Wude approached Fei Li, noticing he didn’t have the scent of someone who had been with an orc. In primitive tribes, humans who had relations with orcs carried their distinctive scent, marking them as someone’s property.
“You don’t have a partner?”
Fei Li was about to deny but was forcibly pulled into Wude’s embrace. “Haha… No partner is perfect. I think that humans can’t handle my rough treatment. One more won’t hurt.”
Wude’s hands began to grope Fei Li, clearly satisfied with his physique.
“Let me go! I have a partner. My partner is Lord Luo Sang.”
Wude was taken aback for a moment, his smile growing even more brazen. “You say you’re Lord Luo Sang’s partner? Lord Luo Sang has endured even the sunny days over the years. He doesn’t need a partner at all.”
He pushed Fei Li to the ground, and his gaze turned intense.
Fei Li backed away anxiously, cursing the orc who was attempting to assault him.
Orcs don’t have a concept of chastity, if they desire someone, they will engage with them regardless of their partnership status. Moreover, Wude was certain that Fei Li didn’t have a partner.
He picked up a stick from the side. This time, the stick remained unchanged in his hands, without sprouting any tender green shoots.
What’s going on?
Just moments ago, in the forest, he could make withered wood come back to life. Now, it seems he can’t?
As he was lost in thought, Wude’s sturdy body pressed down on him.
In a moment of desperation, he jabbed the stick fiercely at Wude’s eyes.
Bright red blood streamed from Wude’s eyes, dripping onto the ground and onto Fei Li.
Taking advantage of Wude’s pain as he fell to the side, Fei Li quickly got up, keeping a wary eye on Wude, fearing further attacks.
When Bafu returned from the river with water was startled to see blood continuously oozing from Wude’s eyes.
“Wude, what happened?” Bafu knelt beside Wude.
Pointing at Fei Li with a fierce expression, Wude said, “You… How dare you injure me! I will kill you today.”
Just as Wude bared his fangs and was about to pounce on Fei Li, Luo Sang’s sharp gust of wind sent him flying away.
Ignoring the injured Wude, Luo Sang stood beside Fei Li and asked, “Are you alright?”
Fei Li shook his head. With Luo Sang around, he felt inexplicably reassured.
Buff was so frightened by the situation that he was speechless and could only quietly squat beside Wude.
“Lord Luo Sang, this damn human actually dared to injure my eye. I can’t see anything now. You must make this right for me.”
Luo Sang cast a cold glance at Wude, then turned to Fei Li. “Did you do this?”
Fei Li timidly nodded.
As the leader of the tribe, Luo Sang would surely address the issue, right?
What would Luo Sang do? Dig out one of Fei Li’s eyes?
“Well done!”
“……”
The three of them stared at Luo Sang in shock.
Wude: “Lord Luo Sang, you…”
“As my partner, you must learn to fight back against strong enemies. A powerless person does not deserve to be my partner.” Luo Sang’s words contained a hint of admiration and encouragement.
Wude looked alarmed. “Lord Luo Sang, this human is too despicable. He actually injured my eye. Is it going to end like this?”
Wude’s anger was directed at Fei Li now, he clearly harbored resentment.
In primitive tribes, orcs were naturally brave warriors and provided food for the tribe through hunting, making them the tribe’s main fighting force.
Orcs’s partners were usually human males who had to rely on the orcs to survive.
Thus, human males saw orcs’ partners as their saviors, and their own status in the tribe was quite low.
If lucky, a partner would treat them genuinely, if unlucky, they might be swapped out.
“It was you who attacked me first. I only retaliated. It’s all your fault.” Fei Li peeked out from behind Luo Sang and glared at Wude.
Wude clenched his fists, making a cracking sound, and looked as if he wanted to tear Fei Li apart.
Bafu tried to help Wude stop the bleeding but was forcefully pushed away by Wude. “Get away, useless thing.”
Fei Li squinted his eyes. The unequal relationship between humans and orcs frustrated him.
Why should he, living in the same tribe, be treated so unfairly?
He helped Bafu up from the ground. “Wude, if you have grievances, take them out on me, not on Bafu.”
“He’s my partner. What does it have to do with you?”
“You…”
Fei Li was about to say more but was pulled away by Luo Sang.
Once back at their home, Fei Li managed to break free.
“Why did you stop me?” Fei Li asked angrily, glaring at Luo Sang.
Luo Sang gave him a cold glance. “Bafu is Wude’s partner. Their affairs are none of your concern.”
“……” A bunch of unreasonable beasts.
Sitting angrily in the corner, Fei Li didn’t want to talk to Luo Sang.
At that moment, Luo Sang brought a stone pot into the room and placed a pile of mushrooms in front of him.
Seeing the mushrooms, Fei Li’s anger subsided significantly.
He had completely forgotten about the mushrooms when leaving the small forest.
He didn’t expect Luo Sang to remember to bring them back. His gaze towards Luo Sang softened considerably.
