Chapter 24: Wude’s Provocation

With his body dangling in mid-air, Fei Li felt death was right before his eyes.

The orc’s strength is incredibly powerful, and as an ordinary human, he had no chance against the orc’s attack.

What’s more, in this pitch-black night, escaping from Wude seemed impossible, like reaching for the stars.

He lowered his gaze and sighed, ‘Is my life really going to end again?’

Wude tossed him up, the wind whistling past his ears.

‘Is this damn orc planning to kill me by smashing me to the ground?’

Suddenly, Fei Li sensed his body was falling downwards, accelerating rapidly.

He closed his eyes, accepting his fate.

Unexpectedly, he was caught by a pair of strong arms. He slowly opened his eyes, and saw the person who saved him.

The male from the forest!

The male smiled at him and then respectfully set him down, positioning himself in front of Fei Li.

“Master, take care of yourself. I’ll handle this orc.”

Infuriated by the male’s interference, Wude glared at them menacingly. “Courting death, you lowly and powerless human! How dare you meddle in an orc’s business? I’ll kill you both.”

Wude let out a low growl and transformed into a wolf, preparing to attack.

The male immediately drew his bow and aimed at Wude’s remaining eye.

Because he lives in the forest and has honed his senses to the level of orcs, the males have almost developed the same keen vision as orcs. He can even see clearly in the dark.

Wude turned his head, focusing his one good eye on the male.

Just as Wude was about to attack, the male released his arrow. The arrow hit Wude’s eye with precision, causing him to roll on the ground in pain. “Damn human, how dare you wound my other eye? I’ll kill you both!”

After pulling the arrow from his eye, Wude relied on his superior sense of smell to locate them. Before the male could shoot a second arrow, Wude had already tackled him to the ground.

Baring his sharp fangs, Wude aimed for the male’s neck.

Seeing this, Fei Li grabbed an arrow from the ground and stabbed it into Wude’s back. Wude howled in pain and swatted Fei Li away with a powerful blow.

Clutching his chest, Fei Li spat out a mouthful of blood. “You both will die!”

As Wude pounced to bite Fei Li’s slender neck.

“Hiss—” Fei Li felt no pain.

Turning his head, he saw Luo Sang’s tall figure clearly in the dark.

On the other hand, Wude was knocked by Luo Sang’s powerful palm, and was lying on the ground, gasping for breath.

Glaring at Luo Sang with resentment, Wude spat out, “Lord Luo Sang, how dare you harm your own kind for a human? You don’t deserve to be our wolf tribe’s leader.”

The previously quiet night had been disrupted by the sounds of fighting and Wude’s roars. Now, many orcs had come out of their homes, standing nearby and watching the scene.

“He is not an ordinary human, he is my partner,” Luo Sang stated concisely.

In other words, he is mine, and I will protect him.

Bafu came to Wude’s side, helping the injured orc up.

Leaning on Bafu, Wude coughed a few times. “If you want a partner, I can find you any kind, but you repeatedly break the tribe’s rules. No tribe allows humans who harm orcs to exist. Have you forgotten that?”

The orcs watching were silent.

The orcs held a higher status in the tribe, and humans could only bow to them.

Those captured by orcs after their tribes were annihilated became the lowest kind of slaves.

The reason why they became partners to orcs was because the males of their species naturally had strong reproductive abilities.

However, humans in the tribe never held high status and could never oppose the orcs.

This fact was well known to both orcs and humans in the tribe.

Standing behind Luo Sang, Fei Li looked at Luo Sang’s tall figure, wondering what he would do.

Seeing Luo Sang remain silent, at this moment, a slender figure stepped out from among the onlookers.

With a smile, Yin Lang stood beside Wude. “Lord Luo Sang, Wude is right. Humans who harm orcs deserve to die. Moreover, this human carries someone else’s cub. Are you, the esteemed Lord Luo Sang, really going to raise another’s cubs?”

Yin Lang’s taunting laughter echoed loudly in the silent night.

Not wanting to trouble Luo Sang, Fei Li stepped forward. “If Wude hadn’t repeatedly provoked me, I wouldn’t have hurt him. This is all he is doing.”

“I only wanted to mate with you. What’s wrong with that?” Wude said with righteous indignation.

In a world where the strong prey on the weak, orcs don’t need a reason to kill, but for humans, it’s the opposite.

Fei Li’s face flushed, almost coughing up blood. The shamelessness of the orcs was unbearable to witness.

“I am Lord Luo Sang’s partner, loyal to him for life. Even if it costs me my life, I won’t let you touch me,”

Fei Li declared firmly, his words stirred something within Luo Sang.

“Loyal?” Yin Lang sneered, staring at Fei Li’s stomach. “How can you speak of loyalty when you’re carrying someone else’s cubs?”

“I…” Fei Li was momentarily speechless.

Damn Yin Lang, never missing a chance to try to kill him.

Turning to Luo Sang with sincere eyes, he said softly, “If Lord Luo Sang doesn’t want the child in my belly, I can get rid of it.”

With that, he picked up a sharp arrow from the ground and stabbed it towards his stomach. In an instant, Luo Sang grabbed the arrow from his hand and threw it away.

“No, I want him!”

Luo Sang’s resolute declaration gave Fei Li a warm feeling he hadn’t felt in years, ever since his parents passed away.

His eyes moistened from the unexpected sense of protection.

Luo Sang’s sharp gaze swept over the crowd, landing on Yin Lang with a warning. “I have chosen Fei Li as my partner. No one has the right to say otherwise. Anyone who wants to harm Fei Li is my enemy.”

The crowd’s perception of Luo Sang and Fei Li shifted. Who would dare oppose the leader of the tribe?

Despite his injuries, Wude was not ready to give up. “Fei Li is your partner, we have no issue with that. But he harmed an orc, breaking the tribe’s rules. Are you going to ignore that, Lord Luo Sang?”

Luo Sang cast a cold glance at Wude, then addressed the surrounding tribesmen. “Alright, the tribe’s rules must be upheld. How Fei Li should be dealt with will be decided by the tribe. Wude, do you have any objections?”

Wude was delighted, confident that no one would allow a human who harmed an orc to continue living. He was sure everyone would side with him.

Wude said, “Fine, I will abide by Lord Luo Sang’s decision.”
