Chapter 57.2
The last time he wore something like this was many years ago.
Jiang Yu took out her phone, wanting to take a photo: “Don’t open your eyes. Let me take a picture.”
Jiang Zhe closed his eyes again, and only after Jiang Yu finished taking the photo did he open them.
After he made his wish, Jiang Yu said, “Okay, you can open your eyes now. I’ll post this on my social media, and you can cut the cake.”
While Jiang Yu was posting, Jiang Zhe cut the cake. The little one saw that her dad was cutting the cake and reached out her little hand to mess with it. Jiang Zhe grabbed her hand and said, “Luo Luo, be good. Daddy will give you the little figure.”
He placed the figure onto the little one’s plate. She opened her mouth and took a lick, then hesitated to eat it.
After Jiang Yu finished posting, she started eating cake. Jiang Zhe picked up his phone and glanced at his social media, where he saw Jiang Yu’s post.
【Wishing our Mr. Jiang a happy birthday.】
The picture showed him making a wish, along with the cake and the little one in the frame.
Jiang Zhe saved the image.
Then he looked down and ate cake.
After dinner, Jiang Yu took out the gifts she prepared for Jiang Zhe: two pairs of shoes and an outfit.
One of the shoe boxes had a flattened corner. Jiang Yu explained, “That day, I happened to see someone snatching something, so I threw the shoe box at them. Hehe, the shoes are fine, but the box got a bit squished. It’s not a big deal.”
Jiang Zhe raised his eyelashes slightly. Although the gift was not heavy, he felt it was very meaningful.
He said, “I really like it.”
Jiang Yu smiled happily.
Later, Jiang Zhe took the child to bathe and sleep. While they were out, Jiang Yu began to cook, preparing to make noodles.
Having practiced many times, Jiang Yu knew how to do it. She boiled water, put in the noodles, added shrimp, mushrooms, and vegetables, then used a carrot to carve out the words “Happy Birthday.” Along the way, she accidentally cut her hand and got a little blood, but it wasn’t a big deal.
She also made a heart-shaped fried egg.
While frying the egg, Jiang Zhe, who had just put the little one to sleep, smelled the aroma and walked in, asking, “What are you making?”
Jiang Yu was busy, so when she saw him come in, she hurriedly pushed him out, saying, “You go wait in the living room. I’ll be right there.”
Jiang Zhe probably already guessed what she was up to, raising his eyebrows while being pushed out.
In the living room, Jiang Zhe had nothing to do, so he turned on the TV. But whether it was the aroma from the kitchen or something else, he couldn’t focus on the show and just waited by the door for her to come out.
Finally, he saw Jiang Yu coming out, holding a bowl of noodles. She placed it on the coffee table, blew on her hands, and excitedly said, “Try it.”
The longevity noodles were steaming hot, and the heart and birthday shape looked good. Jiang Zhe saw her hand and understood how she had done it. He got up and said, “I’ll get you some medicine.”
Jiang Yu pushed him back, saying, “I’ll get it myself. You need to taste it quickly.”
Jiang Zhe sat back down, watching her. Jiang Yu came back, seeing that he hadn’t moved, and urged, “You should taste it! I’ve prepared this for several days!”
Jiang Zhe took out his phone and smiled, saying, “I’ll take a picture.”
After taking the photo, Jiang Zhe finally picked up his chopsticks to try it.
The noodles were a bit salty, but Jiang Zhe felt a little teary and emotional. As Jiang Yu smiled, waiting for him to praise her, he said, “It’s delicious.”
Seeing that he liked it, Jiang Yu felt happy: “Then finish it. But if you’re not hungry, you don’t have to finish it.”
Jiang Zhe finished the noodles.
Afterward, he helped Jiang Yu treat her wound and embraced her while holding his phone, posting on social media: 【Thank you, Mrs. Jiang, for the carefully prepared birthday gift.】
The photo included her wishing photo and the longevity noodles.
Jiang Zhe rarely posted on social media. Wei Cheng didn’t know when the last time was, but he immediately commented: 【You two are really too sweet.】
Soon after, he privately messaged Jiang Zhe, sending him a red envelope of two hundred, wishing him a happy birthday.
When Jiang Yu saw Jiang Zhe’s post, her heart blossomed with joy. She looked at her post and saw that Fu Miao and Chi Le had both liked it. Chi Le commented: 【Oh, I’m so envious.】
Fu Miao: 【Your daughter has grown so big!】
Jiang Yu bent down to reply to them.
At that moment, the man hugged her, his dark eyes sparkling as he said to Jiang Yu, “I actually haven’t properly celebrated my birthday in many years. When I was young, I looked forward to my birthday, but my parents were always busy, so I celebrated it alone, or they were never all there.”
Because he didn’t feel valued, his birthdays were always filled with regret. Not just once, but for many years, the accumulation of regrets year after year made him lose any expectation for birthdays.
But now, he felt fulfilled.
Jiang Yu patted his shoulder to comfort him, “It’s okay; we’ll be here from now on.”
He kissed Jiang Yu. She stared at him in a daze as he leaned in closer.
The man deepened the kiss, pressing her down on the sofa. Just as their clothes began to get messy, the little one woke up and stood in the hallway, her clean, doe-like eyes staring at Mommy and Daddy.
Jiang Yu hurriedly pushed Jiang Zhe away, and he quickly went to comfort the child.
The little one grabbed her dad’s hand and, seeing her mom approaching, also grabbed her hand, clearly wanting to sleep together.
Just when they were getting excited, the little one interrupted them, making them feel like they had little kittens scratching at their hearts. Jiang Yu and Jiang Zhe exchanged a glance and smiled wryly.
Back in the room, the little one lay in the middle, with Jiang Yu and Jiang Zhe lying on either side, waiting for the little one to fall asleep.
The little one quickly closed her eyes, and Jiang Yu soon began to feel sleepy as well. When her eyelids grew heavy, she was suddenly picked up.
Jiang Yu gasped, finding herself pressed against the wardrobe beside her. Jiang Zhe looked outside in a hurry, and Jiang Yu glanced at the little one, saying, “Let’s change places.” She picked her up and took her out of the room, heading to his study.
His study had a resting sofa. As soon as they entered, Jiang Yu found herself pressed against the door, and Jiang Zhe kissed her, moving towards the sofa as they kissed, their clothes falling to the floor.
The two of them were caught up with each other in the study until midnight. After taking a shower and changing clothes, they finally returned to the bedroom to sleep.
As they lay down, Jiang Yu heard Jiang Zhe sighing, “Our room does seem a bit small. We need to hurry up and renovate the villa to move in.”
Jiang Yu snickered under the covers.
