Chapter 228: Enjoying the Spotlight at Home (Part 2/3)
Tang Feng and Su Xiaoli were about to enter the supermarket.
“By the way, Xiaoli, does your dad know you’re back?” Tang Long asked.
“Not yet. I’ll call him in a bit,” Su Xiaoli replied.
“When you call him, remember to say that he should join us for dinner tonight,” Tang Long instructed.
“I will!” Su Xiaoli nodded.
After Tang Long left, Su Xiaoli took out her phone and called her father. Su Gang was overjoyed to hear that his precious daughter was back and hurried over after finding out where she was.
Tang Feng and Su Xiaoli didn’t wait for him and went into the supermarket. The supermarket’s decor was quite nice. Soon, everyone’s attention turned to Tang Feng.
“You’re the person who researched the navigation satellite, aren’t you?” a woman in her fifties asked.
“Yes,” Tang Feng replied with a slight smile. “I am the chief designer of the Beidou Project Phase Two.”
“My goodness! I thought I had recognized the wrong person! I can’t believe it’s really you!”
“Are you from Binjiang District? Is this your hometown?”
The lady was extremely shocked.
“Indeed, I’m from Binjiang. This supermarket is run by my parents,” Tang Feng truthfully answered.
“I can’t believe it! This supermarket is owned by your family?”
“Absolutely! Thank you for supporting our business,” Tang Feng responded with a smile.
“It’s unbelievable that the supermarket owner has such a handsome son! I wouldn’t believe it if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes.”
“I remember the owner’s son was last year’s top scorer in the college entrance exam! Could that be you?”
“That’s me,” Tang Feng nodded.
“My gosh! This is incredible! So, you just got into Jingcheng University and became the chief designer of the Beidou Project Phase Two.”
Feeling somewhat embarrassed, Tang Feng just smiled.
“Are you back to visit your parents?”
“Yes. I’ve been busy recently and haven’t had the chance to come back.”
“What a filial child! It looks like I need to shop at your family’s store more often! Maybe I can rub off some of your family’s good luck.”
“I’ll not only come by myself, but I’ll also bring my kids! I don’t expect them to be a provincial top scorer, just being in the top three of their class would be enough.”
Tang Feng didn’t continue chatting there but took Su Xiaoli to explore the rest of the supermarket. The supermarket was indeed busy. After all, the Tang family’s supermarket was the first large supermarket in Binjiang District.
Even people from the villages knew about the big supermarket in Binjiang District. All the bus routes had stops here.
Many people from the towns wanted to check out the supermarket. Plus, the Binjiang District People’s Hospital was less than 200 meters away, drawing many patients and their families to the supermarket while waiting for medical results.
“Little Feng!” someone greeted Tang Feng.
He looked in the direction of the voice and saw his aunt working in the meat section.
Tang Feng walked over to greet her.
“When did you guys get back?” his aunt asked with a smile.
“Just now,” Tang Feng replied.
“Do your parents know you’re back?” she continued.
“They do,” Tang Feng nodded. “I haven’t been to the supermarket since it opened, so I wanted to take a look around.”
“How’s the business?”
“Better than I expected.”
“That’s mainly because our products are not only comprehensive but also reasonably priced.”
“Aunt, are you in charge of this meat section?” Tang Feng inquired.
“Yes!” she nodded. “Your dad put your uncle in charge of sourcing the meat, and I’m in charge of selling it.”
“Alright, we’ll keep looking around!” Tang Feng said, preparing to leave.
“Don’t go! I’ll cut some beef for you to take home,” his aunt called out.
“Why would I take it home? We’re not eating at home tonight,” Tang Feng was surprised.
“Take it anyway!” his aunt insisted.
“I and Xiaoli just came to look around. If you want to give beef, give it to my dad,” Tang Feng suggested.
“Okay,” his aunt nodded, asking, “When are you going back?”
“Tomorrow morning,” Tang Feng answered.
“Ah? You’re leaving so soon after getting back?” his aunt was clearly surprised.
“Yes,” Tang Feng nodded. “There’s a lot of work waiting to be done.”
After leaving the supermarket, Tang Feng visited his father’s office, where his mother also happened to be. His mother greeted them warmly and started chatting with Su Xiaoli.
Seeing them together, Tang Feng felt somewhat left out.
“Xiaoli, you should have told us in advance you were coming back. We could have arranged our work better,” Tang Feng’s Mother remarked.
“I wanted to call, but Feng wouldn’t let me,” Su Xiaoli replied.
“Next time, don’t listen to him! Call me before you come back! I’ll go home early to cook something delicious for you!” Tang Feng’s Mother scolded Tang Feng with a stern look.
“Mom, Feng was just considering your convenience. He was worried you’d be too busy preparing for our return,” Su Xiaoli quickly defended Tang Feng.
“We’re happy to be busy for your sake,” Tang Feng’s Mother responded.
Su Gang also arrived and joined in the familial banter.
“Dad, Mom, what time do you finish work?” Tang Feng asked.
“Normally, we finish at 9:30 p.m. But since you’re back today, we’ll head home early,” Tang Long replied.
