Chapter 33: Frozen
Fei Li was no match for the mermaid orc and could only watch as the white light approached him.
In an instant, Luo Sang, who had been on the ground, transformed into his wolf form, and his powerful aura deflected the white light.
The mermaid orc stopped his attack and smiled at Luo Sang. “So it’s a wolf orc, and a white wolf at that. Your spiritual power is impressive to be able to deflect my attack.”
“Who are you?” Luo Sang’s eyes were cold.
Fei Li had learned from the tribe that Luo Sang particularly disliked fish. Could this be related to the mermaids?
“Haha… A mere wolf orc dares to ask who I am? You are seeking death.” The mermaid’s voice dropped as he gathered white light in both hands and launched a full-force attack towards Luo Sang.
Luo Sang had to protect Fei Li while also defending himself, which was clearly difficult.
At this moment, Soma was lying on the ground in pain and couldn’t help at all.
In order to avoid causing trouble for Luo Sang, Fei Li could only hide behind him, trying not to distract Luo Sang.
Luo Sang adeptly avoided the mermaid’s attack and stood aside with Fei Li.
The mermaid frowned, confused as he looked at Fei Li.
Why did someone who wasn’t even afraid of the mermaid’s powerful sound waves have no spiritual power at all?
What exactly is he?
With the mermaid momentarily stopped, Luo Sang seized the opportunity and struck the mermaid, leaving five deep red claw marks on its body.
Looking at the blood seeping from the wound, the mermaid’s gaze toward Luo Sang turned murderous.
“Damn wolf orc, how dare you injure me.”
The mermaid orc roared angrily and prepared for a full-force attack. Suddenly, its expression darkened, and it vanished in front of the three of them.
With the intense sound waves gone, Soma shook his head and struggled to get up from the ground.
Fei Li turned to Soma, “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine, Master. Why aren’t you afraid of the sound?”
Luo Sang and Soma both stared at him.
He shook his head, “I don’t know either.”
Luo Sang’s eyes darkened, once again confirming his suspicions.
“If you’re fine, let’s go back!”
Luo Sang and Soma turned to leave, but Fei Li stayed where he was, showing no intention of moving.
Seeing that Fei Li didn’t follow, Luo Sang turned back and asked, “What’s wrong?”
“Could Wu Yue be in trouble? Is the Mermaid Tribe in danger?”
Without responding, Luo Sang picked Fei Li up onto his shoulder and ignored his questions.
He looked displeased as he slapped Luo Sang’s shoulder. “Luo Sang, stop! We can’t leave like this.”
“Can you defeat the mermaid orc we encountered earlier?”
Fei Li said nothing.
“If you can’t beat it, then run. We didn’t come here to get ourselves killed.”
Soma nodded in agreement. “Master, Luo Sang is right. We can’t defeat the mermaid so let’s leave.”
“No, put me down,” Fei Li insisted firmly.
Luo Sang ignored his request and continued to walk out.
Seeing they were about to leave, Fei Li, in a moment of desperation, bit down hard on Luo Sang’s shoulder, blood immediately filling his mouth.
The sensation of being enveloped by intense heat returned, and he managed to break free from Luo Sang’s grip, jumping down from his shoulder.
Luo Sang glanced at the wound on his shoulder, his dark eyes cold as ice.
“I—I didn’t mean to bite you. It’s just that you wouldn’t listen to me,” Fei Li stammered, unable to meet Luo Sang’s gaze.
“Master, what’s the point of this? We’re only trying to help you.”
Fei Li: “…”
At a time like this, they’re just standing aside.
“I have to rescue Wu Yue.”
After saying that, he turned and walked back inside again.
Seeing this, Soma had no choice but to follow.
Luo Sang sighed helplessly, he really can’t do anything about Fei Li.
The three of them continued forward, passing through a long street but still did not see a sign of a single person.
Fei Li noticed with surprise that the streets here resembled those in ancient dramas, depicting bustling urban areas.
Could the mermaid orc be so advanced?
Have they progressed beyond other tribes, even the entire primitive society, by years?
Looking at the streets, he always felt something was off.
Not far ahead, they reached the end of the street.
A dark cave entrance suddenly appeared in front of them. The entrance interior was hidden from view and he couldn’t see what’s inside at all.
Fei Li walked straight toward the cave.
“Master, be careful.”
Luo Sang grabbed Fei Li’s hand and shielded him with his own body. “This place is strange. You should stay behind me.”
The warmth of his hand made Fei Li’s blood boil.
After he had bitten Luo Sang earlier, his body had been acting strangely.
What is going on?
Before he could figure it out, the three of them had already entered the cave.
It was pitch black inside, and he could only follow Luo Sang as they moved forward.
After walking for a while, the surroundings suddenly became brightly lit, so bright that it was dazzling.
Gradually adjusting to the brightness, he was astonished to see a statue that resembled an ice sculpture.
Letting go of Luo Sang’s hand, he approached the statue.
Examining it closely, he felt that the ice sculpture looked somewhat familiar, as if it were…
Wu Yue?
Upon closer inspection, it was indeed Wu Yue!
He reached out and knocked on the ice sculpture, shouting loudly, “Wu Yue, can you hear me?”
The area around the ice sculpture emitted a white, eerie glow, which was what illuminated the dark cave so brightly.
The ice sculpture emanated a bone-chilling cold, and Soma, being human, couldn’t get close and had to stay away from it.
“Master, I saw the person inside the ice sculpture move their eyes,” Soma said.
Fei Li stepped back a few steps back and saw that Wu Yue’s eyes were indeed moving.
This meant that Wu Yue was still alive, but was just frozen.
He turned back to Luo Sang, “How did this happen?”
Luo Sang’s face seemed to be shrouded in a layer of coldness as he coldly glanced at Wu Yue inside the ice sculpture.
“The mermaids are the most powerful tribe but they are also the most evil one. They use their strong spiritual power to continuously invade other tribes, and many tribes have suffered persecution from the mermaids.”
As he spoke, a trace of pain appeared on Luo Sang’s face.
Memories from his childhood began to surface in his mind, and a deep hatred filled Luo Sang’s eyes.
Seeing his troubled expression, Fei Li moved closer and softly called out, “Luo Sang, are you okay?”
Snapping back to reality, Luo Sang’s gaze softened as he faced Fei Li.
“Wu Yue must have been turned into this by the mermaids. Only mermaid orcs themselves can lift the ice seal, no one else can.”
Luo Sang, who was already reluctant to deal with the mermaid’s affairs, didn’t feel much about Wu Yue being frozen in ice.
Fei Li touched the ice sculpture again and suddenly noticed that his hot palms seemed to be gradually melting the ice.
Could he possibly break the ice seal?
With curiousity, he placed both hands on the ice sculpture, accelerating the melting process.
Soma and Luo Sang watched in shock.
Footsteps approached from the cave entrance, and mermaid orc that had attacked them earlier appeared behind them.
“You again?” The mermaid orc sneered at Fei Li, who was attempting to break the ice seal. “You overestimate yourself. Do you really think you can undo my seal?”
