A few moments later, Li Cai, Su Jiang, and An Rou stood in a row in front of An Mingjie.
Especially An Rou, the little girl looked timid at this moment, lowering her head and not daring to meet An Mingjie’s eyes, completely devoid of the arrogance she had just exhibited.
An Rou felt uneasy in her heart at this moment.
Oh no.
She had lost her temper earlier and actually hit her brother.
But, I didn’t hit him too hard, right?
And it was her brother’s fault first, right?
However, thinking back, that feeling just now was really… An Rou wanted to experience it again.
Although she kept her head down, An Rou secretly fiddled with her little fists, feeling a bit restless.
An Mingjie crossed his arms, looking at the three of them, feeling somewhat helpless.
Not to mention An Rou, but Su Jiang and Li Cai, especially Li Cai, had surprisingly started to go astray.
“You two, delete the photos for me!”
An Mingjie’s face darkened. Since when did the An family’s style become like this?
Taking photos everywhere and even uploading them to the family group chat.
An Mingjie had just taken a quick look and thankfully Li Cai hadn’t shared them in the group chat yet, so the situation wasn’t irreparable.
“What photos?”
“What are you talking about, Brother An?”
Li Cai and Su Jiang were in perfect harmony at the moment, both looking puzzled, as if they were not the ones grinning and taking photos just now.
Seeing An Mingjie’s frown, indicating he might get angry, Su Jiang quickly turned to Li Cai and said, “Hey, Brother Cai, what you have in your hand is the documents for me, right?”
“…Yes! Look at my memory, I forgot to give them to you.”
“Well then, no time to waste. I’m going for the interview now, aiming to enter the Inspectorate soon and contribute to the An family!”
“Su Jiang, you’re too polite. It’s a long way, let Brother Cai drive you, vroom vroom vroom…”
As they chatted, they quickly made their escape. If they lingered any longer, their phones might not be safe.
“Su Jiang, I’m coming too…”
Upon seeing these two abandoning her and running away, An Rou immediately became anxious.
Weren’t we supposed to stick together through thick and thin?
Both Su Jiang and Li Cai were leaving. An Rou couldn’t afford not to come along.
If she did, who would bear the brunt of An Mingjie’s anger?
“An Rou, this time it’s very dangerous for us. Stay at home and wait for our return!”
Su Jiang stopped An Rou in her tracks, pushed her back, and left with Li Cai, leaving behind those words before swiftly disappearing.
An Rou: “???”
Su Jiang, you big klutz!
Didn’t we just agree not to abandon each other?
Men’s words are as unreliable as ghosts!
An Rou, not giving up, still tried to run outside.
“Rourou.”
An Mingjie gently called out, and An Rou’s small steps came to a halt.
Oh no.
“Su Jiang and Li Cai are off to handle important matters. You stay here, let’s have a good chat, just the two of us!”
An Mingjie smiled at An Rou, nodding his head towards the study.
“Go inside, get paper and pen, write a self-criticism. Write until the moment they return.”
“…Brother, I really didn’t mean to just now.”
“Three, two…”
“Don’t count, don’t count, I’ll go get it now!”
An Rou felt a headache. She dreaded when An Mingjie started counting like this, as she had developed a stress response from it since childhood.
And so, An Rou begrudgingly knelt at the table to write a self-criticism, while An Mingjie leisurely sat beside, sipping tea.
If An Mingjie were to take a closer look at this moment, he would notice one thing.
That is, the content of An Rou’s self-criticism was all about scolding Su Jiang and Li Cai.
In the midst of scolding Su Jiang and Li Cai, An Rou also interjected some scolding towards An Mingjie.
An Rou even became more excited as she wrote, getting addicted to scolding.
…
On the other side, Li Cai was driving, taking Su Jiang on their way to the Inspectorate.
Instead of discussing what to do when they arrived at the Inspectorate, they were…
“Old Li, how many photos did you take just now?”
“I arrived late, so I only took a dozen or so.”
“You’re quick, I’ve only taken around twenty.”
“Later, we’ll share with each other. I’ll have material to tease An Mingjie for a lifetime with these photos!”
“That’s not enough, I’ll tease him for two lifetimes.”
Both of them chuckled, completely forgetting that they were about to embark on a serious mission at the Inspectorate.
After a while, Su Jiang finally saw the legendary Inspectorate.
“…The Inspectorate is right across from the Public Security Bureau?”
“Yeah, after all, they can be considered part of the same system, so it’s convenient for the Inspectorate to access information.”
Li Cai nonchalantly replied, “Where else do you think the Inspectorate would be?”
Su Jiang’s mouth twitched. Logically speaking, an entity like the Inspectorate should either be high-end and sophisticated, or hidden in a discreet location to avoid detection.
Yet, it was openly situated right across from the Public Security Bureau, and the office building was just average in size, with nothing distinguishing about it.
The crucial part was that the Inspectorate’s sign at the entrance was almost rotten.
You couldn’t even make out what it said anymore!
Wasn’t anyone taking care of this?
Su Jiang’s eye twitched, feeling the strong sense of shabbiness even before entering.
“Hey, here are your academic and professional certificates, and your counseling psychologist license…”
Li Cai handed over the stack of documents to Su Jiang, saying, “I’ll wait here for you. Just go in for a regular interview, remember, a regular interview!”
Seemingly concerned, he added, “Don’t mess up anything, this is the Inspectorate, not an outdoor factory!”
Su Jiang looked at the documents in his hand, nodding nonchalantly.
“Relax, I’m an outstanding citizen. How could I mess things up? I’m just here for a simple interview.”
He felt that Li Cai was biased against him. Did he really look like such an unreliable person?
“Let’s go.”
Su Jiang got off the car and headed straight to the Inspectorate. Li Cai watched Su Jiang’s figure walking away, lit a cigarette, chuckled self-deprecatingly, feeling like he might have overreacted a bit.
It was just an interview, yet he found himself worrying.
Squeak~
As Su Jiang pushed open the door, a bespectacled man at the front desk perked up and stood up immediately upon hearing the sound, looking at Su Jiang.
“Hello, do you have an appointment?”
“Um, I’m here for an interview, for the position of a counseling psychologist.”
Su Jiang looked at the scholarly-looking man and asked, “This is the Inspectorate, right?”
“Yes, this is the Inspectorate.”
The man, upon hearing that Su Jiang was there for an interview as a counseling psychologist, excitedly walked up to Su Jiang and shook his hand.
“Hello, I’m Yang Ming. We’ve been eagerly waiting for you! I’m filling in at the front desk today.”
“We’ve been waiting for you for ages!”
Yang Ming was thrilled, holding onto Su Jiang’s hand tightly.
“Uh?”
Su Jiang’s mouth twitched. This is not what I imagined at all?
“What do you mean by that?”
“You see, before you, three counseling psychologists couldn’t handle the job and resigned. We haven’t had any counseling sessions for a full two months!”
Su Jiang’s head tilted, a big question mark appearing above it.
Huh?
