Delayed Affection is Cheaper than Grass; Why Cry When I Depart? Chapter 237

Chapter 237: “Hasn’t Mom Given You Enough Over the Years?”

Undoubtedly, the arrival of her adopted son brought Xie Bingyan some sense of clarity and hope.

Once in the car, listening to her adopted son’s comforting words, it was as if everything else became insignificant. The troubles with Xu Mo could be pushed aside.

As long as her beloved adopted son was by her side, she felt capable of overcoming any difficulties. That was how she managed to get through past hardships.

Years ago, she had suffered sleepless nights, haunted by the cries of her child, to the point of almost going mad. But after adopting Xu Junzhe, those cries had been replaced by a deep and nurturing maternal love.

This emotional connection was something that others might not understand, but after Xu Deming’s betrayal, all her affection had been channeled into her adopted son.

If Xie Bingyan hadn’t realized that this sense of emotional comfort would soon dissipate, she might have felt even more at ease.

She was momentarily lost in this feeling of security, unable to pull herself out of it.

Xu Junzhe, meanwhile, continued to comfort Xie Bingyan, despite her limited responses. He understood that he had no way back and needed to sever the ties between the Xu and Xie families. His immediate goal was to put Xu Mo behind bars.

Only by imprisoning Xu Mo could he secure his own safety. Chen Anxiong had assured him that as long as Xu Mo was dealt with, he would help resolve any ensuing problems, and even if issues arose, they wouldn’t threaten his position.

With support from both Gao Cai’er and Liu Kaikang, Xu Junzhe had a new plan in motion. This time, his target was Xu Mo.

The car was heading towards a scenic spot, increasingly remote. Since it was meant to be a relaxing outing, the route was deliberately taking them further away.

Xu Junzhe was talking to Xie Bingyan, assuring her that he would help her stay away from troubles. Xie Bingyan, though somewhat resigned, nodded slightly in agreement.

As for the vehicles ahead, it was quite normal to encounter a few cars on the road. Even when these cars surrounded their vehicle, Xu Junzhe remained unperturbed.

To ensure everything went smoothly, Xu Junzhe had not brought any bodyguards along; they were stationed a bit farther away. In the car, besides the driver, it was only Xu Junzhe and Xie Bingyan.

While dealing with Xie Bingyan was not the primary goal, the main objective was to frame Xu Mo. To achieve this, Xu Junzhe had recruited a few ruthless individuals from the Pinduoduo company who were willing to take risks for money.

Initially, Xu Junzhe had hoped others would handle the situation and he would simply await the outcome. However, when he learned that the plan involved Xie Bingyan’s death, very few people were willing to participate. Xu Junzhe hesitated for a long time, unable to make a decision, but eventually, with no other choice, he resolved to act decisively.

Xu Junzhe had long resigned himself to being a mere pawn. The Xu family had lost its significance for him, and Liu Kaikang’s pressure to wait until Fengxiang Jewelry received the funds had left him with few options. Liu Kaikang had mentioned possessing some of Xu Mo’s information that could implicate Xu Mo in the case, potentially coordinating with Chen Anxiong to frame him.

With these factors pressing down on him, Xu Junzhe felt no more reservations. For Xie Bingyan, this might also be a form of release. Her suffering was profound, and this outcome, however tragic, might be seen as the best resolution for her.

As the cars continued to surround them without immediate action, they pressed on. It wasn’t until one of the vehicles nudged their car that Xu Junzhe and Xie Bingyan looked up in surprise.

“What’s happening?” Xu Junzhe asked, feigning panic.

The driver reported, “We’re being followed! There are cars in front and behind us, and it looks like they’re up to something!”

Xu Junzhe appeared shocked, his face showing panic. He quickly glanced around before turning to Xie Bingyan, saying, “Mom, someone’s coming! I don’t know who it is, but it shouldn’t be Xu Mo!”

Hearing this, Xie Bingyan was stunned.

“Xu Mo wouldn’t be so insane! The incident with my sister couldn’t have been his doing! Who are these people? What do they want? Could it be that someone else is targeting us?” Xu Junzhe said, panicking.

Not seeing a response from Xie Bingyan, he hurriedly took out his phone to call the bodyguards, urging them to come quickly.

“Mom, don’t worry. I’ll protect you and won’t let anyone hurt you, no matter who they are!”

As another car rammed into theirs, Xu Junzhe roared in fury, his face turning pale.

Xie Bingyan turned her gaze outside, her expression detached. In the distance, a car suddenly accelerated and continued to ram into their vehicle, seemingly aiming to flip it over.

Inexplicably, the scene before Xie Bingyan’s eyes seemed to slow down dramatically, as if someone had pressed a slow-motion button. She could clearly see the face of the driver of the approaching car.

She glanced back slightly and saw her seatbelt snap, slowly recoiling. The car suddenly flipped over, and the windows shattered.

She continued to turn her head and saw Xu Junzhe huddled up, clutching a pillow to shield his head. His entire body was curled up in a ball.

In the slow-motion scene, she watched the airbag deploy, rapidly inflating. The car and glass continued to spin in mid-air, and she was thrown out of the vehicle. The airbag could no longer protect her.

The car crashed heavily onto the ground, producing several intense noises.

Xie Bingyan did not anticipate such an outcome. After the car was overturned, she was thrown from the back seat to the front seat. However, the car’s safety features seemed effective enough; she was not unconscious but was injured.

Xu Junzhe appeared injured as well, emitting pained cries, his arm apparently cut by the broken glass.

The driver fared worse and had no signs of life.

Xie Bingyan was unsure of the extent of her injuries but felt a lack of sensation. Realizing that the chaos had ceased and the car had come to a stop, she made her way to crawl out of the vehicle.

“Mom, Mom, where are you?”

Just after crawling out of the car, Xie Bingyan heard Xu Junzhe’s frantic call from behind. She turned around and felt a chill in her heart.

She was injured, with one arm numb and her head bleeding profusely.

Unable to crawl any farther, she made it to a tree and collapsed beside it, looking at the distant vehicles.

The road was not heavily trafficked, and some people who had witnessed the accident had stopped to look.

Xu Junzhe, panicked and searching frantically, eventually found his way to the area near the bushes.

He rushed over to her, “Mom, how are you? Are you okay?”

Xie Bingyan looked at him, stunned. In that moment, many things she had never understood seemed to become clear.

She opened her mouth to question Xu Junzhe, but suddenly found herself unable to make a sound; her throat was parched.

“Mom—”

Xu Junzhe called out urgently, and seeing that she was still alive, he felt a mix of relief and surprise.

To make sure everything went according to plan, Xu Junzhe had even injured himself, nearly fracturing his right hand.

Xie Bingyan’s seatbelt had long since snapped. Surviving such a severe crash was nothing short of a miracle.

Xu Junzhe felt a twinge of frustration with the car’s performance.

“Jun… Junzhe, come, lie down with me for a bit, just for a bit!” Xie Bingyan’s voice was faint, barely audible.

Seeing her bloodied face, Xu Junzhe was momentarily taken aback, but a flicker of twisted joy flickered in his heart. Quickly masking his emotions, he exclaimed with apparent concern, “Mom, hold on, I’ll call an ambulance right now! The ambulance will be here soon!”

“No, no, it doesn’t matter anymore! Junzhe! It’s, it’s not important anymore!” Xie Bingyan’s face was pale as she looked at her adopted son with a weak breath. “Junzhe! Tell me, Hasn’t Mom Given You Enough Over the Years??”
