Mi Dou wasn’t happy about having a younger sister.
Especially since Tuan Tuan, the new baby sister, was round and cute, inheriting Zhou Yang’s looks and Jing Jing’s personality, making her very endearing.
However, the baby sister, named Tiandou, was quite ugly when she was born.
Although she improved over time, as a girl, her gender traits weren’t very pronounced, and she looked more like a boy.
Plus, being so small, her intelligence wasn’t apparent yet, so Mi Dou thought she seemed a bit dumb.
In short, Mi Dou was thoroughly dissatisfied with his sister.
He secretly called her Tudou (potato), but this didn’t upset Zhan Qingyue.
However, with Zhan Qingyue’s high standards of education, he didn’t easily resort to punishment.
Instead, he gave Mi Dou a nickname, Suandou (sour bean), so Mi Dou stopped calling his sister Tudou.
Ning Qiuyou used to defend Mi Dou a bit, but after seeing the father and son engage in their playful battles, she felt it was beneficial for Mi Dou’s intellectual development and decided not to interfere.
Anyway, Zhan Qingyue genuinely couldn’t bring himself to be too harsh with Mi Dou.
Tiandou seemed to really like her big brother.
Whenever she started talking, she would call out “Gege” (brother) and reach out to grab him, wanting Mi Dou to hold her hand, which made her very happy.
But Mi Dou always refused, which made her cry in frustration.
“Mi Dou,” Ning Qiuxiu, holding the crying Tiandou, said helplessly, “Don’t bully your sister.”
“I’m not bullying her,” Mi Dou argued, “I’m teaching her that not everything is for her, like me.”
Ning Qiuxiu: “???”
“What kind of nonsense are you watching?” Ning Qiuxiu was exasperated.
Mi Dou’s learning ability was so strong that he picked up all sorts of random things.
She wondered where he got such ideas from.
Mi Dou grinned, “Dad taught me.”
His dad definitely wouldn’t teach him such things; Mi Dou must have picked it up somewhere else.
Tiandou continued to reach out to Mi Dou, calling “Gege~” and trying to grab him.
Under his mother’s watchful eye, Mi Dou reluctantly extended his hand for Tiandou to hold, his face showing some disdain.
Tiandou happily grabbed what she wanted and stuffed it into her mouth, drooling all over Mi Dou’s hand.
Mi Dou: “……”
“Dirty sister!”
Mi Dou quickly pulled his hand back and ran to the bathroom to wash it.
Tiandou, unaware of being disliked by her brother, watched him run into the bathroom with a silly grin.
Ning Qiuxiu helplessly wiped Tiandou’s drool with a tissue, worriedly saying, “Your brother is smart because he inherited it from your dad, but with your intelligence, I hope you didn’t inherit it from me.”
—Though Ning Qiuxiu considered her genes excellent, she was aware of her limitations in intelligence.
“But your dad likes silly girls, so you’re just what he likes,” Ning Qiuxiu mumbled.
Fortunately, Zhan Qingyue didn’t hear this; otherwise, he would surely retort, saying he didn’t dislike her for being silly, and she shouldn’t be so confident that it attracted him!
After washing his hands, Mi Dou didn’t want Tiandou to touch him anymore.
Ning Qiuxiu deliberately placed Tiandou in a baby walker and asked Mi Dou to keep an eye on her while she took a phone call.
Mi Dou reluctantly agreed to the task.
Tiandou rolled around the living room in her walker, and Mi Dou deliberately hid in places where she couldn’t reach.
Tiandou, unable to follow, called out “Gege” anxiously.
“Foolish sister,” Mi Dou made a face at her, but in doing so, accidentally bumped into a wall corner, causing him to tear up.
Mi Dou covered the hurt spot and sat down on a stool, wiping his tears with the back of his hand.
Tiandou drove her walker over, put her hand on Mi Dou’s leg, and looked at him with concern, saying “No, no.”
Unfortunately, her vocabulary was still limited, so she didn’t know how to comfort her brother.
She could only watch him anxiously. Seeing him cry, she began to cry too.
Tiandou’s crying attracted the attention of all the household staff.
Ning Qiuxiu, seeing Mi Dou in tears from the bump, felt both amused and heartbroken.
She wanted to pick up Tiandou, but Tiandou clung tightly to her brother’s pants, unwilling to leave, preferring to stay with her brother while crying.
Ning Qiuxiu had no choice but to leave her there.
The housekeeper checked Mi Dou and found the bump wasn’t too serious, so he applied some medicine to soothe him.
“Look at how much your sister cares about you,” Ning Qiuxiu said while helping Mi Dou with the medicine.
After the pain subsided, Mi Dou noticed Tiandou had stopped crying and was looking at him with worried, tear-filled eyes.
His mood shifted, feeling quite complex.
Mi Dou usually only knew how to bully his sister.
If she had hurt him, he would have found it amusing.
But seeing her care for him made him feel guilty.
After this incident, Ning Qiuxiu noticed that Midl Dou’s feelings toward his younger sister had changed a lot.
He was no longer the adversarial older brother he used to be.
Zhan Qingyue, on the other hand, discovered with regret that in his daughter’s eyes, he wasn’t number one; Mi Dou was.
As Tiandou grew a bit older, became more articulate, and reached an average level of intelligence, the difference became even more apparent.
…
Due to a sudden drop in temperature and inadequate care from the housekeeper, Tiandou caught a cold and felt lethargic, which made Zhan Qingyue extremely distressed.
“Come here, sweetheart, take your medicine.” Zhan Qingyue prepared the pediatric medicine and held Tiandou, personally feeding her.
“No, I don’t want it!” Tiandou stubbornly turned her head away.
Zhan Qingyue, amused, kissed her little face and said, “Are you afraid of getting a shot then?”
“…” Every child is afraid of needles, and Tiandou was no exception.
She hesitated instantly.
Taking advantage of this, Zhan Qingyue brought a spoonful of medicine to her mouth and coaxed, “Be good, open your mouth. Just three sips, okay?”
— After all, Tiandou couldn’t count yet.
If Zhan Qingyue told her it was five sips and only gave her three, she would believe it.
He was calculating carefully.
“Okay.” Tiandou was persuaded by her dad, but after taking one sip, she found it very unpleasant and scrunched up her face, refusing to open her mouth for the second sip.
“I want, brother, to feed me.” Tiandou started to come up with alternative ideas.
“Be good, your brother won’t feed you. Daddy will.”
“No,” Tiandou refused, “Brother, I want Brother.”
Zhan Qingyue: “…”
He was frustrated but couldn’t bring himself to be harsh with Tiandou.
He had no choice but to call Midou over and hand him the spoon. “Feed your sister her medicine.”
“Oh.”
Midou took a spoonful of medicine and fed it to Tiandou.
She obediently opened her mouth and drank it.
Midou fed her another spoonful.
Though Tiandou was still reluctant, she drank it.
Zhan Qingyue: “???”
Zhan Qingyue felt an intense sense of injustice.
After Midou had fed two spoonfuls, he put down the spoon and said, “Done, three sips!”
— He had just heard Zhan Qingyue say three sips.
“It’s not three sips yet,” Zhan Qingyue signaled to Midou, “Midou counted wrong. Daddy will count, and Midou will feed.”
Midou understood the hint from Zhan Qingyue but now was ready to stand up to him. “Dad said three sips, so we have to keep our word. We can’t deceive the child!”
Tiandou chimed in: “Deceive, deceive, child.”
“…” Very well.
Zhan Qingyue, feeling both old grievances and new frustrations, smiled and said, “Midou, recently there’s been an influence outbreak. I heard many kids at your school are sick.”
“Yeah,” Midou said proudly, “I haven’t caught a cold.”
“Not catching a cold doesn’t mean there are no viruses lurking in your body. There’s a term called ‘prevention is better than cure,’ which means eliminating the virus before it can cause harm. So,” Zhan Qingyue glanced at the remaining medicine in the bowl, “you should drink the rest of your sister’s medicine to kill the lurking viruses and prevent them.”
Midou: “…”
“I counted wrong earlier, Dad. My sister hasn’t had three sips yet,” Midou decisively chose to betray his sister and picked up the spoon again, “Dad will count, and Midou will feed.”
Poor, naive Tiandou, under her dad’s pressure and her brother’s betrayal, ended up drinking the rest of the medicine.
…
As Tiandou grew day by day, her parents’ strong genes became more apparent.
By the time she turned two, she was already an incredibly cute little girl.
She inherited her mother’s beauty and her father’s big eyes, giving people the impression of being irresistibly adorable whenever she looked at them.
Ning Qiuxiu, having won many awards over the years, no longer participated in variety shows and focused on one drama or film per year, spending the rest of her time with her children and loved ones.
One day, Zhan Qingyue was invited by his mentor to give a speech at his alma mater. Ning Qiuxiu took the two kids to watch.
But since Ning Qiuxiu had now reached a goddess-like status, her appearance at the university was a bit disruptive to the order.
For the sake of the kids’ safety, they chose to watch from the backstage.
“Mommy, take me to play a ranked match. I’m just one match away from reaching the King level.”
After starting elementary school, Midou showed an amazing talent for gaming—playing solo and nearing the King level in King’s Call.
Kingdom’s Summoner has been around for 10 years, but it remains incredibly popular.
Everyone, whether they have something to do or not, pulls out their phones to play a game or two.
Among them is Mi Dou, an elementary school student who has become a top player in the game.
Despite his young age, Mi Dou seems to have inherited a lot from Zhan Qingyue.
His self-discipline is impressive; he manages his game time well without needing adult supervision.
“I haven’t played in a while. Are you sure you want me to carry you?”
“It’s okay, Mom. You just need to play with your hands. I can carry us myself,” Mi Dou said confidently.
Ning Qiuxiu: “…”
That sounded a lot like something Zhan Qingyue used to say to her.
Since she was bored anyway, Ning Qiuxiu took out her phone and played a duo with Mi Dou.
Even though she hadn’t played for a while, Ning Qiuxiu’s “skills were still sharp,” and she successfully carried her son to victory in the game.
Amid Mi Dou’s cries of “Mommy is the best!” Ning Qiuxiu was startled to realize that just minutes before, her daughter Tian Dou had disappeared during their final team fight.
Tian Dou, seizing the moment her mother was engrossed in the game, had sneaked out of the room, walking very quietly with a heightened sense of awareness.
But since there were many teachers outside, as long as she didn’t run to the front stage, Ning Qiuxiu wasn’t too worried about her getting lost.
Except Tian Dou had run straight to the front stage.
Zhan Qingyue was speaking at the podium when suddenly the students below became restless.
He turned around to see his daughter standing in front of the curtain, curiously looking around.
When she saw him, she ran over happily shouting, “Daddy!”
The students below burst into laughter and excited exclamations of “So cute” and “So adorable.”
“…” Even Zhan Qingyue found himself helpless in the face of this unexpected incident.
The staff wanted to help, but Tian Dou didn’t like being held by strangers, so Zhan Qingyue signaled for them not to.
He was in the middle of discussing success, so he gently patted his daughter’s head as she came over, letting her stand by his side.
He continued calmly, “Of course, my success is not only due to having an excellent team and partners but also because of my family…”
Zhan Qingyue seamlessly transitioned to another topic on success, while Tian Dou stood quietly by his side, secretly observing the audience.
The audience couldn’t help but notice her, completely charmed by her innocent and well-behaved demeanor.
Ning Qiuxiu eventually found her way to the front stage and heard Zhan Qingyue modestly bragging about himself.
Mr. Zhan, aren’t you afraid of getting scolded by the principal?
However, she glanced at the principal and saw that he was nodding along, clearly in agreement with Zhan Qingyue’s points.
Ning Qiuxiu: “…”
The world of Kingdom’s Summoner was beyond her.
After Zhan Qingyue finished his talk, Ning Qiuxiu, with some embarrassment, apologized, “Sorry, I didn’t keep an eye on Tian Dou, and she sneaked out.”
“Actually,” Zhan Qingyue chuckled lightly, “It gave me a chance to show off my love and my daughter.”
Having a complete family and a loving spouse, he was truly a winner in life.
Ning Qiuxiu: “…”
And of course, it immediately became a hot topic on social media.
“Even after being together for so long, still showing off like young lovers. How shameless.”
He kissed her cheek and said, “Marrying Qiuxiu, I could show off our love for a lifetime.”
Hearing those sweet words, Ning Qiuxiu’s face turned red.
How coincidental—she also felt that deciding to marry Zhan Qingyue was the best choice she had ever made.
She looked up at Zhan Qingyue, their eyes meeting, and they shared a smile.
Without words, they understood each other’s feelings.
Suddenly, Mi Dou’s scream pierced the moment: “Ah, ah, ah, I fell out of the top rank!”
—The End
