“After a few dozen minutes, An Xingchang sat on the sofa, rubbing his phone with a look of heartache.
It had almost been smashed by An Rou just a moment ago.
Across from him, Su Jiang curiously sized up this head of the An family.
He wasn’t quite what Su Jiang expected.
His hair was messy, he had a long beard that hadn’t been shaved in a while, and his whole appearance was listless.
At first glance, Su Jiang thought he was some kind of homeless man.
However, An Xingchang’s actions just now gave Su Jiang a rough idea of what kind of person he was.
He was, well, kind of abstract.
“Humph, what are you suddenly back for?!”
An Rou sat beside Su Jiang, letting out a cold snort, her face looking bad, clearly still angry.”
“Tsk, you little brat, how dare you talk to your great father like that?”
An Xingchang smoothed his messy hair, grumbling.
Before An Rou could say anything, he immediately put on a friendly smile and turned to Su Jiang.
“You must be Su Jiang. Jie mentioned you to me, and now I finally get to meet you.”
An Xingchang stood up and extended his hand to Su Jiang.
“Uncle, hello, I’m Su Jiang.”
Su Jiang also quickly stood up and shook hands with An Xingchang.
Then, Su Jiang realized his hand couldn’t be released.
Huh?
Su Jiang looked up in confusion, meeting An Xingchang’s excited eyes.
“When are you two going to have a baby?” An Xingchang asked.
“Dad, what are you talking about?!”
An Rou instantly grabbed a pillow and threw it at An Xingchang.
Thud!
Luckily, Su Jiang dodged quickly, otherwise he would have taken the pillow for his father-in-law.
An Xingchang was caught off guard by the pillow and fell back onto the sofa.
But he didn’t get angry, instead, he looked at Su Jiang awkwardly and said, “Cough… Su Jiang, don’t mind her. Our Rou Rou has a bit of a temper, just be patient with her.”
“This girl, she’s never liked being around boys since she was little. Her mother and I both thought she wasn’t interested in the opposite sex, and it worried us for a long time.”
“Not long ago, Jie told me that Rou Rou had found someone, and we didn’t believe it. We thought Rou Rou had found a girlfriend.”
“Now, knowing that Rou Rou likes boys, we’re relieved.”
An Xingchang said with tears in his eyes, you wouldn’t know if he was the one who was wronged.
Su Jiang listened with a blank expression, glanced at An Rou, and sure enough, she was about to explode.
So Su Jiang quickly interrupted An Xingchang and changed the subject, saying:
“Uh… well, Uncle, you came back this time to…”
“Don’t mention it. That stinky boy An Mingjie, the other day…”
“He called me in the middle of the night and asked me to bring some people back, saying he was going to do something big.”
An Xingchang took out a cigarette and was about to light it, but An Rou glared at him and he put it away again, continuing:
“I didn’t even get back yet, and he went straight to that Isolated Island Battlefield. You tell me, what’s this all about?”
As soon as An Rou heard the words “Isolated Island Battlefield,” she immediately stood up and said, “Then you have to take people in to save my brother!”
“No.” An Xingchang shook his head immediately.
“Why?” An Rou didn’t understand.
An Xingchang took a deep breath and pointed at himself, “Because your great father was banned from entering the Isolated Island Battlefield by all the major families five years ago.”
“Huh?”
Su Jiang and An Rou both looked confused. An Xingchang stretched, leaned back on the sofa, and gazed at the ceiling, as if reminiscing about the past.
“Back then, I was with your Uncle Cao… you probably don’t remember old Cao, you were still young then and didn’t recognize people.”
“Anyway, I went to help your Uncle Cao fight, also on the Isolated Island Battlefield.”
“Then, I accidentally, quite by chance, made a little mistake…”
An Xingchang stretched out his hand and gestured, indicating it was truly a small mistake.
Su Jiang felt an ominous premonition upon hearing this.
“You made that small mistake, and then what?”
“Then, half of the Isolated Island Battlefield was blown up by me.”
An Xingchang sighed, “And then, I was banned from entering the Isolated Island Battlefield.”
Wow!
Su Jiang’s eyes lit up, and he looked at An Xingchang with admiration, “You’re a badass!”
“How careless do you have to be to blow up half an island?”
Su Jiang was intrigued. He even felt like grabbing a small stool and sitting next to An Xingchang to hear about his heroic deeds back then.
An Xingchang felt Su Jiang’s admiring gaze and couldn’t help but smile with pride.
“It’s a pity though, that explosion back then also affected old Cao, and he hasn’t forgiven me to this day. He holds a grudge…”
“Dad!”
An Rou couldn’t take it anymore and interrupted An Xingchang angrily. She even glared at Su Jiang.
What time is it?
You two are still chatting away?
The two were startled by An Rou’s shout. An Xingchang sighed helplessly, “Even if you’re anxious, I can’t do anything about it. I can’t go in.”
“What about my brother?”
“It depends on whether he’s lucky. But he should be fine, I’ve prayed for him.”
“You!”
An Rou was furious. She knew her father was unreliable, but she didn’t expect him to be this unreliable.
Su Jiang’s eyes flickered, and he quickly said to An Xingchang, “Uncle, I’d like to discuss something with you.”
“Don’t call me uncle, it’s too formal.”
“Uh… then what should I call you?”
“If you don’t mind, just call me Dad, it’s only a matter of time anyway.”
“Bang!” An Rou threw another cushion at him.
I don’t know where she got so many cushions.
Su Jiang twitched his lips, too lazy to care about the address. He said directly, “It’s like this, Lin Hui is going to target An Rou now, I plan to go to the Isolated Island Battlefield to help An Mingjie.”
“Lin Hui?” An Xingchang frowned, thinking for a moment, “You mean Lin Jianfei’s insidious son? The one who doesn’t look like a good person at first glance?”
“Uh… probably.”
Su Jiang didn’t know who Lin Jianfei was, but since he was called insidious, it probably referred to Lin Hui.
“That little brat is itching for a fight? Where did he get the guts to target my daughter?”
“Uh… that’s not important.” Su Jiang quickly said, “What matters is, can you, Uncle, hold off Lin Hui’s people?”
“I can, do you want them dead or alive?”
“Huh?”
Su Jiang was stunned, wondering if he hadn’t made himself clear.
I asked if you could hold them off, you’re directly sentencing Lin Hui to death?
I have to say, An Xingchang’s words gave Su Jiang a lot of confidence.
Su Jiang took a deep breath and said solemnly, “Since that’s the case, then I’ll leave An Rou to you, Uncle. I’ll go to the Isolated Island Battlefield to save An Mingjie.”
“I can, I can, but can you please stop calling me Uncle, it makes me feel old.”
An Xingchang’s face turned unpleasant, “If you really don’t want to call me Dad, then call me brother. It makes me look younger.”
“Bang!” An Rou’s pillow came flying.
But this time, An Xingchang dodged it.
An Rou clenched her fists and glared at Su Jiang, who was about to speak but hesitated.
You dare try calling him that?
Want to be disrespectful to your elders?
You don’t know who’s the big boss here, do you?
