Chapter 33
Ke Xin and Yang Yang were shocked that Wen Tang was going to the hospital. It was clear that there would be many reporters there. If the reporters caught her, it would be a disaster!
They were already at the door, and Ke Xin stepped in front of Wen Tang.
“But… Tang Tang, are we really going?” Ke Xin’s face was filled with concern. “There are so many reporters at the door. Getting out is difficult enough, let alone the hospital where there are even more reporters waiting.”
Yang Yang said, “Yes, it’s not our fault the accident happened, we’re just caught in the middle. Why wade through this mess? If we’re spotted by reporters, it’ll only confirm all the online speculation.”
No matter how one looked at it, the risks outweigh the benefits.
Ke Xin and Yang Yang thought it best for Wen Tang to stay home quietly, wait for the company to handle things, and only go out after the storm had passed. But their thoughts couldn’t stop Wen Tang from making her own decisions.
Ke Xin’s courage lasted only two seconds. Wen Tang remained silent but exuded a strong sense of pressure. After two seconds, Ke Xin opened the door on her own.
However, there was a surprise.
To their astonishment, Wen Tang’s handsome neighbor was standing right outside, at his own door. It was clear he had just stepped out.
Ke Xin’s eyes lit up immediately, shining with excitement.
“Mr. Zhou, hello!”
At this point, Ke Xin already knew from Wen Tang that the neighbor’s surname was Zhou and his full name was Zhou Jingyu. What a lovely name that suited him perfectly! However, since Zhou Jingyu wasn’t in the entertainment industry, Kexin hadn’t heard of him and didn’t know he was the renowned president of Shengling Group.
Even without knowing he was an important figure, Ke Xin addressed him with respect.
Zhou Jingyu was dressed in a dark, custom-made suit. Upon seeing Ke Xin, he gave a slight nod and then shifted his gaze to Wen Tang, who had just walked out.
Last night, Wen Tang had enjoyed dinner cooked by Zhou Jingyu himself, and this morning, she had eaten the buns he had lined up to buy.
One is soft-hearted when fed.
“Such a coincidence.”
This time, Wen Tang took the initiative to greet Zhou Jingyu.
Zhou Jingyu’s lips were slightly pursed, reserved and restrained. “Hmm.”
Zhou Jingyu was indeed excessively aloof in public.
However, Wen Tang was not affected by his cold demeanor.
The two walked side by side towards the elevator, Wen Tang and Zhou Jingyu in front, with Ke Xin and Yang Yang behind.
“Thank you for the breakfast,” Wen Tang said to Zhou Jingyu.
“You’re welcome.”
Zhou Jingyu’s gaze lingered on Wen Tang. Despite the uproar from the previous day and the ongoing drama, Wen Tang showed no signs of negative emotions. She was wrapped in a trench coat and wore light makeup, looking vibrant and unaffected by the rumors.
“Ms. Wen, are you going out?” Zhou Jingyu asked.
Wen Tang responded with a brief “Hmm.”
As they reached the elevator, everyone suddenly remembered something. The day before, Wen Tang had used the crowded elevator as an excuse to leave Zhou Jingyu outside.
Would she do the same today?
Ke Xin and Yang Yang watched Wen Tang’s expression nervously, afraid of repeating yesterday’s awkwardness.
Especially Ke Xin, who had been obsessively shipping Wen Tang and Zhou Jingyu as a couple since this morning. With both of them possessing such divine looks, their pairing seemed perfect. Even if they didn’t speak, just seeing them together felt sweet through Ke Xin’s rose-tinted glasses!
They couldn’t hear what Wen Tang and Zhou Jingyu were talking about in front of them. Ke Xin was particularly worried that Wen Tang might make Zhou Jingyu uncomfortable again, as she often acted unpredictably.
So, she followed behind them, both anxious and delighted, enjoying the bittersweet sensation of picking up sugar from shards of glass.
But this time, her worries were somewhat unnecessary.
Wen Tang wasn’t indiscriminate. She wouldn’t act like she did yesterday.
She knew she had been a bit harsh the previous day, but that was provoked by Zhou Jingyu. Apologies were not forthcoming. But since she had accepted his food, she couldn’t be as harsh as before.
When the elevator arrived, Wen Tang voluntarily stepped aside slightly.
“Please go ahead.”
This was her greatest concession.
If Zhou Jingyu were tactless and insisted on bringing up yesterday’s incident, he would only have himself to blame.
That’s just how celebrities, pampered for too long, could be—so unreasonable.
Zhou Jingyu was perceptive.
He let go of the matter from yesterday.
As if forgetting it entirely, Wen Tang asked him to go first, and he stepped into the elevator.
After Zhou Jingyu entered, Wen Tang, Ke Xin, and Yang Yang followed.
The elevator descended. Wen Tang, preoccupied with her own thoughts, had no mood for small talk with Zhou Jingyu. Watching the elevator numbers change slowly, she fell silent.
Zhou Jingyu stood quietly beside Wen Tang, also silent.
With them being so, Ke Xin and Yang Yang had nothing more to say.
Ke Xin, who had been fervently shipping the CP just moments ago, began to doubt herself.
…They were standing together without much to talk about; was this really okay?
But regardless, the combination of handsome man and beautiful woman looked so perfect together!!
Ke Xin’s inner excitement was palpable, while the elevator’s atmosphere was unexpectedly quiet, the sound of a pin dropping could be heard.
After a while, Zhou Jingyu broke the silence.
He suddenly turned to Wen Tang and said, “This morning, when I left, I saw many reporters waiting outside. They must be waiting for you.”
Ke Xin’s attention was entirely on them. She swore she couldn’t be mistaken—the tenderness in Zhou Jingyu’s gaze towards Wen Tang was almost deadly!
But Wen Tang remained completely unaware, nodding calmly. “Hmm.”
Wen Tang had already heard about the reporters from Ke Xin and Yang Yang this morning.
She was accustomed to reporters swarming around during any incident and didn’t find it particularly troubling.
As they discussed the matter, Yang Yang, who had been quiet, suddenly exclaimed in frustration, “Those reporters are insane. They not only know which car is ours but also recognize me and Yangyang. This morning, we were blocked outside and almost couldn’t get in!”
Yang Yang added, “My clothes almost got ruined today!”
Yang Yang’s point was clearly in the latter part of the statement, but Zhou Jingyu focused on only one thing.
Still looking at Wen Tang, he frowned and asked, “They recognize your car?”
Ke Xin chimed in, “Yes! It’s usually fine, but this morning it was really hard for us to get in. And we have to go out later, so we’re definitely going to be blocked!”
She wasn’t complaining, just expressing her concern.
The scene at the entrance was already daunting to think about!
With reporters everywhere, if they drove out, they would be surrounded, let alone going anywhere. The license plate was not a secret in the industry; celebrities had almost no privacy, especially someone at Wen Tang’s level, whose every move was exposed to the media.
Wen Tang didn’t want to showcase her troubles to too many people, especially Zhou Jingyu, which made her feel awkward and embarrassed.
She was displeased, “Be quiet.”
Ke Xin and Yang Yang immediately stood still, closing their mouths.
But Zhou Jingyu had already understood.
When the elevator reached the basement, everyone exited.
After Wen Tang led Ke Xin and Yangyang a few steps forward, Zhou Jingyu suddenly spoke, calling out to her, “Ms. Wen.”
His voice was clear and pleasant, sounding even more distinct in the basement.
Wen Tang stopped and turned, “?”
Zhou Jingyu stood there, both tall and gentle, “I’m also heading out. How about you take my car?”
Take his car?
Why was he offering to help? They weren’t familiar!
Wen Tang’s first reaction was to refuse, but when she looked up and met Zhou Jingyu’s deep, foggy eyes, her heart skipped a beat.
Actually, taking his car wasn’t impossible.
After all, he had personally cooked dinner for her the night before.
On a whim, Wen Tang responded with an “Oh,” but immediately realized she was unintentionally swayed by Zhou Jingyu’s attractiveness.
She couldn’t lose her composure!
With a slightly lifted chin and a proud tone, Wen Tang replied, “Since you’re insisting, I’ll have to reluctantly accept.”
Zhou Jingyu smiled.
“Thank you, Ms. Wen, for your graciousness.”
He cooperated.
……
Whether it was Wen Tang, Ke Xin, or Yang Yang, the reporters at the entrance all recognized them.
Thus, the three were seated in the back seat of Zhou Jingyu’s car, with Zhou Jingyu driving and the front passenger seat left empty.
“Where to?” After everyone was seated and buckled up, Zhou Jingyu turned and asked.
Ke Xin and Yang Yang looked at Wen Tang and didn’t speak.
First, they didn’t dare to speak out of turn if Wen Tang didn’t, and second, they really didn’t want to go to the hospital!
Why walk into danger knowingly?
They didn’t understand!
Wen Tang sat diagonally behind Zhou Jingyu. Her original destination was the People’s Hospital, where the two victims injured by Wen Anle were now in the ICU.
She wanted to see how they were doing, especially since her grandmother, who had been injured by Wen Anle, had passed away without even making it to the ICU.
But now, when Zhou Jingyu asked, and seeing his clear eyes through the rearview mirror, she suddenly felt less determined about going.
What good would it do to visit them?
Though they were also victims, they weren’t her grandmother.
Her grandmother was already dead, harmed by Wen Haifeng, and had lost her life in the accident, never to return.
“Go to Dingli Building,” Wen Tang changed her mind.
Wen Tang’s management company was located there.
Ke Xin and Yang Yang were both surprised and pleased that Wen Tang decided not to go to the hospital.
Though they weren’t sure what Wen Tang would do at the company, it was certainly better than going to the hospital!
Yang Yang anKe Xind Kexin said in unison, “Yes, let’s go to our company!”
In Zhou Jingyu’s car, traffic was smooth and unimpeded.
Zhou Jingyu drove steadily. As Wen Tang looked at the streets passing by, she said, “At this time, if you drop us off at the company, won’t you be late?”
It was an irrelevant comment, but everyone in the car knew who Wen Tang was addressing.
Zhou Jingyu replied leisurely while driving, “As the boss, I have the privilege of being late.”
He glanced at the rearview mirror and added, “So Ms. Wen needn’t worry about me.”
Wen Tang was momentarily speechless.
A misunderstanding.
Who would worry about you?
Capitalists are like vampires. Her concern was indeed unnecessary!
