Chapter 11 : Revenge
As the darkness completely swallowed the last bit of light on the horizon, Yanyue Villa was once again invaded by the night.
Inside the room, people watched as the thick darkness spread outside the door, feeling the unsettling presence in the shadows, and secretly became alert. Someone hesitantly asked, “Are we going outside?”
Last night, they had stumbled into this trap unprepared, becoming bewitched and nearly falling into the hands of the evil beings at Yanyue Villa.
Xu Xiuque, Chen Qingfeng, and Zuo Lingshuang had already made up their minds.
At this point, retreat was not an option. Even if they stayed inside, the lurking threat might not allow them to hide.
Indeed, a faint sound of gongs and drums could be heard from afar, drifting in the air. Everyone tensed, inevitably thinking of last night’s wedding. And someone moved to the window and looked outside, their pupils contracting slightly as they exclaimed, “Look, outside…”
Not just him, others had also noticed the change outside.
It seemed as if, in an instant, the darkness that had covered the villa had completely disapeared. The villa appeared to be back to normal, but it was also very abnormal.
The damp spring rain had vanished, revealing a bright spring night scene.
Red lanterns were hung high in the courtyard and corridors, with lights shimmering, creating a festive atmosphere throughout the villa, which was strikingly similar to last night’s scene. Yanyue Villa seemed to be celebrating something.
The group speculated, “Could it be another wedding?”
“Is everyone feeling okay? Are you all still clear-headed?”
“Clear-headed? We’re in the room, not turned into guests. We’re sitting here, prepared to watch the wedding.”
This reminded them of last night’s events.
If not for the wind blowing away the bride’s veil and breaking the illusion, they might not have awakened from their bewitchment. They later realized that the wind was caused by Ji Yu.
Ji Yu was the only one who had been awake at that moment.
This outcome was unexpected but not entirely surprising. Although people often considered her a useless person, as the heir of the Ji family, she must have qualities beyond the ordinary to hold her position.
Seeing the change in Yanyue Villa, and now that their senses were clear, the group hesitated.
Xu Xiuque asked softly, “Should we go outside?”
“It’s probably not an option to stay inside,” Zuo Lingshuang said solemnly. “Being inside doesn’t mean we’re safe.”
Chen Qingfeng’s expression was grave. “Master Zuo is right. With the darkness receded, and since we can see the villa’s current state from here, it means the villa is indeed not safe for us to hide.”
Ji Yu glanced at the three of them.
Among the demon hunters who had come to Yanyue Villa, they were the strongest, representing the next generation that the Chen family, Xu family, and the Demon Hunter Alliance had high expectations for.
These three had considerable prestige among their respective disciples, so the others were inclined to listen to them. However… The sound of gongs and drums was growing louder and seemed to be approaching their direction.
The group’s hearts raced, their eyes fixed on the door.
The deafening sound of the gongs and drums announced the arrival of a lively wedding procession. At the forefront was the young master of Yanyue Villa, Yue Shaohua, dressed in a groom’s attire. It was the groom himself who came to welcome the bride.
Seeing this, everyone felt a sense of inevitability.
It looked like there was going to be another wedding tonight.
The demon hunters present quickly grasped the situation and found it somewhat troublesome. “What should we do? Do we really have to attend the wedding?”
“If we don’t attend, those evil beings might attack us wildly. We need to stabilize the situation and uncover the real culprit.”
“Exactly. If we don’t identify the culprit, we won’t be able to solve the problem, and it might lead to more casualties.”
In such situations, experienced demon hunters would usually hold their positions, seek out the truth of Yanyue Villa, find the root of the chaos, and eliminate it to resolve the issue.
However, the current problem was…
“The young master Yue has come to welcome the bride. Who is the bride?”
As soon as this was mentioned, all the demon hunters instinctively looked towards the Chen family’s disciples, focusing on Chen Qingzhe.
Chen Qingzhe’s face was pale, and it was unclear whether it was due to injury or something else.
Seeing everyone’s gaze on him, his face alternated between green and red, and he exploded in anger, “Don’t even think about it!”
A disciple from the Demon Hunter Alliance standing next to Zuo Lingshuang advised, Fellow Daoist Chen, you were a bride yesterday, so what if you were a bride again today?”
“Yeah, yeah. Don’t worry, Daoist Chen, we’ll support you and won’t let you suffer.”
“With Lord Jiang here, you don’t have to worry about really being married.”
“…”
Despite everyone’s attempts to persuade him, Chen Qingzhe refused to comply.
It was precisely because Jiang Shiqiu was around that he was even more unwilling to agree. Jiang Shiqiu and Ji Yu were a couple, and he was worried that Jiang Shiqiu might seize the opportunity to take revenge on him.
Last night, Jiang Shiqiu had already done it. His injuries had not yet healed, and he had truly suffered.
Jiang Shiqiu watched the scene with a smiling face, tilting his head and whispering to Ji Yu, “Wife, who do you think would be a good choice for the bride?”
The breath brushed past her ear, and her pale ears turned slightly red.
Ji Yu, feeling a bit uncomfortable, shifted her body slightly to the side and cautiously said, “It depends on which one Yue Shaohua wants to marry.”
Jiang Shiqiu stared at her pink ears, finding them incredibly cute. He chuckled and said, “What do you think about this fellow being the bride?”
He pointed at Chen Qingzhe.
Ji Yu responded, “… That sounds good.”
Seeing her approval, Jiang Shiqiu’s eyes were filled with amusement. “My dear, you truly have a telepathic connection with me. Then let’s have this fellow be the bride tonight.”
He looked quite interested, with a teasing expression, exuding a sense of playful mischief.
The demon hunters nearby, overhearing the conversation between the couple, were left speechless.
Is this really not deliberate revenge?
Chen Qingzhe, on the other hand, looked like a respectable man forced into a compromising situation, his pretty face flushed with anger. Unfortunately, despite his reluctance, everyone present supported the decision, and even the Chen family disciples couldn’t object.
After all, Chen Qingzhe had been chosen as the bride last night, so it seemed that the demon was satisfied with him. Since one guest was already deemed suitable, it made sense for him to be the bride again.
Chen Qingfeng glanced at the smiling Jiang Shiqiu and said, “Qingzhe, just agree.”
“I refuse! I absolutely refuse to marry a male ghost. I’m a man, how can I be a bride!” Chen Qingzhe shouted in embarrassment and anger.
The other Chen family disciples also chimed in, “What’s the big deal? You’re beautiful, and the young master of Yue likes beautiful people. We aren’t as good-looking as you, so we can’t help even if we wanted to.”
Their words sounded somewhat insincere, and they were secretly relieved that they weren’t deemed pretty enough to attract the demons’ attention.
Chen Qingzhe, furious, pointed at Ji Yu and said, “She’s even more—”
Before he could finish, Chen Qingfeng clamped a hand over his mouth and pushed him into the room to change clothes.
The other Chen family disciples were also sweating and feeling speechless.
Saying that his wife is more beautiful in front of Jiang Shiqiu, suggesting that his wife should be the bride and marry someone else, would provoke even the most composed person. Jiang Shiqiu’s temperament was not particularly gentle, and he would be enraged if it involved his wife.
This was a deep-seated “impression” everyone had, Jiang Shiqiu was infatuated with the Young Mistress Ji, even willing to join the Ji family by marriage. His wife, Ji Yu, was his forbidden zone.
Seeing Chen Qingzhe being dragged off to change into bridal attire, Jiang Shiqiu’s gaze turned cold. He said to Ji Yu, “Wife, I don’t like him. Can I kill him?”
Ji Yu: “…”
Ji Yu stared at him in shock, not knowing what to say.
Jiang Shiqiu suddenly laughed and said, “I was just joking, did I scare you?” His tone was gentle, and he caressed her face as if truly apologetic for having frightened her.
Ji Yu’s expression was strained because, for that moment, she had genuinely felt his chilling murderous intent. The more charming his smile, the heavier the murderous aura.
This was a capricious demon, with moods as unpredictable as the weather.
Soon, Chen Qingzhe, now dressed in bridal attire, was pulled out again.
Seeing Chen Qingzhe dressed as a bride, even though everyone knew his true gender, many men’s faces flushed red, and their gazes subtly shifted towards Ji Yu.
The siblings did resemble each other closely. They had inherited the beauty of the once renowned Yunjing’s most handsome man, Shang Yunxiao. However, Chen Qingzhe was a man, and no matter how beautiful he looked, he was still a man.
But Ji Yu was not.
If the one dressed as a bride was Young Master Ji…
Before their imaginations could run wild, the wedding procession had already arrived. Leading the procession was Yue Shaohua, who looked eagerly at his bride.
Chen Qingzhe, the bride, was filled with shame and anger. He had been silenced by a spell and couldn’t speak, his face reddening with frustration.
However, from Yue Shaohua’s perspective, this reddening of the face seemed like the shyness of a newlywed bride, which pleased him greatly.
“Wife, I…”
Chen Qingzhe: “…” Ahhhh!!! I want to kill… I want to kill a demon!
Reluctantly, Chen Qingzhe climbed into the bridal sedan.
The others quickly followed.
Jiang Shiqiu and Ji Yu walk behind slowly.
Jiang Shiqiu held her hand and spoke tenderly, “Wife, that fellow doesn’t compare to you in beauty… No, no, no, he’s not even worthy of carrying your shoes! In my heart, you are unique. No one in this world can compare to you…”
As Ji Yu listened to his sweet talk, she felt extremely distressed.
Was it because she had too little experience? Or had demons started using sweet words to win hearts before killing? Did they have to talk about romance and seduction before committing murder?
What a tactic, to kill first and then destroy the heart.
