Chapter 14 : Calling Husband
Ji Yu knew that her actions were very risky. If Jiang Shiqiu was truly a evil demon being and didn’t want to reveal his identity, she could die at any moment.
All the demon exterminators had their memories altered by him, except for her.
It wasn’t that he was sparing her, but rather the innate talent of the Ji family. She remained absolutely clear-headed, and no demon or evil spirit in the world could easily alter her memories or enchant her heart.
This was also why she could hold the position of the Ji family’s young master.
Ji Yu was also gambling, hoping he wouldn’t kill her for the time being.
As she had said earlier, if he wanted to kill her, he could do so at any time. Demons and evil spirits were cruel and inhumane, Even if they want to play tricks on people, why would they need to be so roundabout and keep playing the “husband and wife” game with her?
As expected, Jiang Shiqiu smiled. Every time he smiled, it was like the blazing flame of the abyss, both dazzling and terrifying. One was instinctively compelled to overlook his unparalleled beauty, feeling only awe.
The golden flame was suspended in the air, and beyond the golden flame was endless darkness. The two of them felt as if they were in the universe.
Jiang Shiqiu looked at her with a beaming smile and said, “I thought you wouldn’t ask, my wife.”
Ji Yu calmly replied, “Will you tell me then?”
“If you want to know, I am naturally willing to inform you,” he said with a gentle smile, “But before I tell you, I want you to know that I am sincere with you and have no intention of mocking you.”
His tone was so serious that her heart skipped a beat, and she felt a bit at a loss.
“I…”
She opened her mouth but didn’t know what to say.
Seeing her reaction, Jiang Shiqiu sighed, extended his hand, and the last golden flame fell again, turning into a golden bead.
He tied the golden bead with a red string and fastened it back onto her wrist, saying, “The Ji family’s Flame Devouring Golden Bead is extremely firm and Yang. I didn’t expect it to have already reached you…”
Ji Yu was taken aback, her usually calm and indifferent face showing a rare expression of astonishment.
“You know about the Flame Devouring Golden Bead?”
Jiang Shiqiu smiled gently, finding her dazed and silly appearance quite enWifeing, and said with a smile, “Yes, I know. I once had dealings with one of its previous owners, and our marriage was arranged at that time.”
“Marriage?”
Ji Yu felt as if she couldn’t think clearly and dumbly repeated his words.
“Yes, our marriage was planned a long time ago. We got married the night before yesterday. But my wife can’t remember the wedding, which really makes me sad…”
He sadly embraced her, resting his face on her slender neck, appearing as if genuinely hurt by her.
Ji Yu stood there, stiff and unmoving.
After the golden flame transformed back into the golden bead and returned to her hand, the surroundings plunged into complete darkness. She could sense the restless ghosts in the darkness, though they seemed to be held back by some fear, not daring to come closer.
There was no doubt that the fear they felt was directed at the man beside her.
Who exactly was he?
“Wife, I can’t tell you right now,” Jiang Shiqiu said. “But you can see for yourself.”
Ji Yu, still a bit at a loss for words, instinctively asked, “How can I see?”
As if waiting for her question, Jiang Shiqiu took her hand and said with enthusiasm, “If you really want to see, I can take you there right now.”
Ji Yu: …
Ji Yu’s words were cut off as the excited man led her into the endless darkness.
Initially, Ji Yu could still sense the terrified ghosts retreating in the darkness, but soon, the commotion faded, and the surroundings became extremely quiet. It seemed as if they were the only ones left in the world.
It was clearly the same darkness, but the darkness now was completely different from the evil and foul smell just now.
“Wife, don’t be afraid,” Jiang Shiqiu’s voice came, still tender and affectionate. “We’ll arrive soon.”
Ji Yu composed herself, trying to ignore the unsettling atmosphere in the darkness.
This was not a place where living beings should venture.
Gradually, her steps became slow and stiff, and her thoughts turned muddled.
Ji Yu heard Jiang Shiqiu’s faint voice calling her, but she couldn’t focus or respond to him.
Without her knowing, the green dress on her body gradually turned into a wedding gown. A blush appeared on her pale face, adding some color to it, making her extremely beautiful.
Seeing her obediently following him, Jiang Shiqiu led her along the edge of a ghostly river. Her bright eyes were vacant, reflecting his image, as if she had locked him in her heart, showing immense affection.
“Wife,” he embraced her, lowered his head to kiss her, and said with a soft laugh, “Indeed, it’s still not the right time. You can’t handle it.”
Although he wanted to bring her into his domain, she was still a living person. Whether in spirit or body, she couldn’t maintain absolute clarity.
The Ji family’s inherent clarity was still constrained in such a place.
Even so, Jiang Shiqiu still brought her there.
When they appeared in an ancient city standing amidst the vast darkness, countless monstrous subjects within the city looked up, bowing and kneeling in awe.
“Master!”
“Master!”
“Master, you’re back!”
………
Countless voices rang out, along with those terrifying auras that were so powerful that they were terrifying. Any one of them could bring disaster to the world.
Ji Yu’s confused mind seemed to become more clear, and the blood color on his face disappeared completely.
She instinctively felt fear.
“Wife, don’t be afraid.”
The voice, laced with a smile, came as her body was enveloped in a cold embrace. Despite the chilling nature, it made her feel genuinely relaxed, and she instinctively snuggled closer to him.
“Husband…” she murmured.
Jiang Shiqiu lowered his head to kiss the corner of her lips, saying “Good girl,” and added contentedly, “If you could be this obedient when you’re clear-headed…”
Though he said this, he was exceptionally pleased, finding joy in her dazed gaze and the affectionate look she gave him. It made him adore her even more.
He held her close, gently lowering his head.
“Wife…”
……
Ji Yu abruptly opened her eyes and realized she was leaning against the man’s embrace. Her body tensed suddenly.
The man holding her noticed her stiffness and showed a look of regret, but he played the victim first “Wife, it was you who leaned in, and I couldn’t bear to push you away.”
Ji Yu: …
Ji Yu felt somewhat embarrassed. Although her memories were hazy, like they were covered by a veil, she still recalled some details.
She vaguely remembered that he had brought her to a ghostly, silent place, where many terrifying beings existed, causing her instinctive resistance. Only being near him felt safe.
“What was that place?” she asked softly. “I think I heard them… calling you Master?”
Moon Shaohua and the others also referred to the entity in the sarcophagus on the altar as Master.
At that moment, she even wondered if the evil being in the sarcophagus was him or if he had set it up to deceive the demon hunter.
Jiang Shiqiu’s gentle smile stiffened slightly.
“Wife,” he said through gritted teeth, “not all beings called Master are the same.”
Such a dirty and disgusting thing, and the lady actually thought it could be herself?
“Wife, you’ve spoken so harshly, and it hurts my feelings!” Jiang Shiqiu feigned hurt, looking quite aggrieved.
Ji Yu felt embarrassed.
“Sorry,” she apologized sincerely. “I shouldn’t have doubted you.”
A true gentleman can admit his mistakes, and Ji Yu was composed in acknowledging hers.
Knowing that he was extraordinary, even though she still couldn’t fully understand his identity, at least she knew now that he wouldn’t harm her.
In fact, he truly considered her his wife.
This realization made her cheeks flush slightly, and her fingers curled up a bit, losing her usual composure and calmness.
Jiang Shiqiu loved her pretending to be calm, and said generously: “My lady, I forgive you.”
Ji Yu paused and abruptly changed the subject, asking, “Do you know what happened at Yanyue Villa?”
“Yes,” he replied calmly, showing no remorse for his actions.
He knew full well what had happened at Yanyue Villa, but watched the demon hunters as they searched for the truth, observing their fear and anxiety with the detachment of someone who finds amusement in the suffering of others.
It was truly… despicable.
Ji Yu had begun to grasp his character. Though he appeared powerful, gentle, refined, and courteous, he was actually indifferent and ruthless, like a god aloof from the world, seeing all living beings as mere ants.
This Master’s nature was capricious, evil spirit, and disdainful of the world.
All the negative descriptions could apply to him.
But this was to be expected and even unavoidable.
After all, he was not human but a born demon, and expecting him to adhere to human virtues of etiquette, morality, and beauty was simply unrealistic.
That was indeed unrealistic.
Ji Yu didn’t know where he had taken her, but she was certain it was not a place from the human world.
If it wasn’t from the human world, then it must be… the Netherworld.
No wonder her senses were so muddled, living beings could not enter the Netherworld. Once there, one’s memories could be erased, and one’s mind could become unclear.
Ji Yu’s expression became somewhat complex.
“Wife, don’t look at me like that,” Jiang Shiqiu said, his face showing a hint of frustration.
At his words, Ji Yu controlled her expression and returned to her usual calm demeanor, tentatively asking, “Can you deal with it?”
“Of course!” Jiang Shiqiu said readily. “I’ve long found that disgusting thing unbearable and have wanted to crush it for a long time.”
Ji Yu’s heart skipped a beat, and she looked at him earnestly. “Jiang Shiqiu, could you please get rid of it?”
Jiang Shiqiu fixed his gaze on her.
Ji Yu did not avoid his gaze, maintaining a sincere expression.
With their current abilities, the demon hunter could not handle the entity in the sarcophagus. The only one who could resolve the issue was Jiang Shiqiu.
If Jiang Shiqiu didn’t take action, they would all die here.
Ji Yu had her own principles, and although she was accustomed to life and death, she didn’t wish to witness more death. Since she couldn’t solve it herself, it was better to have someone who could handle it. There was no shame in asking for help.
As long as peace was restored and innocent lives were spared, other concerns were secondary.
Jiang Shiqiu suddenly smiled, his smile still tender and affectionate. He said softly, “My wife, if you ask someone for help, you can’t ask for nothing in return, right?”
Ji Yu nodded. She understood that one must offer compensation when asking for help. She couldn’t take advantage of him just because he was a demon and not a human.
So she asked straightforwardly, “What kind of compensation do you want? We will give you whatever we can.”
The “we” she referred to included the demon hunters, as if Jiang Shiqiu intervened, he would be saving their lives as well. They couldn’t just ignore it.
Jiang Shiqiu’s gaze became focused, his expression full of anticipation. “I only want the compensation from you, Wife.”
Ji Yu: “… What kind of compensation?”
She felt a surge of anxiety, fearing she might not be able to meet his demand.
Jiang Shiqiu moved closer to her, his dark eyes tinged with a hint of red, becoming even more intense. “I want you to call me husband…”
