Chapter 15

After we finished setting up the camp, we had a freetime at night. I continued my talk about magic to the magician girl and the priest girl. 

“Everything that is happening in this world is caused by magic.”

“Huh? Is that so?”

“Yes.”

Everything in this world was different compared to my previous world, the earth. For example, let’s talk about lightning. On earth, the reason why lightning occurred was because the speck of ice floating high toward the sky and the speck of ice floating from the sky to the ground collided. This collision caused static electricity. More and more electricity accumulated in the cloud and then when the cloud couldn’t hold the accumulated electricity anymore, the electricity was diverted toward the ground, causing lightning to happen. That was the scientific explanation about lightning. 

But in this world, they had unscientific explanations about lightning. Lightning was caused by magic power and this unscientific explanation was deemed as more credible compared to the scientific explanation. In this world, lightning could appear even when there was no cloud in the sky. Even though there was no electricity accumulation, lightning could appear out of the blue in this world. 

The law of nature in this world was entirely different compared to the earth. As expected from isekai. 

“This world is filled with a lot of magic power. We call the magic power in this world by a simple term, the world’s magic. This world’s magic power is the one that causes things like rain and lightning.”

“I see.”

“And so, with the magic power that we have, we can intervene with the world’s magic power to bring forth magic. Everything in this world is caused by magic power. Therefore, you could also do anything with magic since the basic principle of magic was intervening with the world’s magic power. When I have something I want to be done in this world, I intervene with the world’s magic power and thus, conjure magic. Earlier, I used magic so that every monster that came in a 30 meters radius would die instantly.”

“I see.”

The two of them nodded in understanding. 

“Huh?”

And then, the magician girl immediately tilted her head to the side. 

“Then what about the chanting and magic circle?”

The magician questioned.

“Ah, that’s right. I will explain about magic circles first before they’re easier to explain. Magic circle is something that appears when you intervene with the world’s magic power with your own magic power.”

Well, in a way, it was like a program. I couldn’t use the term ‘program’ though since these girls wouldn’t be able to understand.

“And the next one is chanting. Chanting is essentially a simple and unnecessary thing too.”

“Huh?! Unnecessary?!”

“Yes. In fact, I never uttered a single chant, didn’t I?”

“Yes….”

“So what is chanting? Simply put, chanting is used to supplement the image. By using chanting, you can use other’s image, an image that doesn’t belong to you. By thinking of the past while chanting and using the same chant as the person that used it, you triggered the memory that was already engraved in the world’s magic power and thus, you’re able to conjure magic. That is chanting. Chanting magic.”
