Outside the window, densely packed things flew out of the sea and kept flying toward the yacht.
They kept hitting the windows heavily, their slender bodies with large wings like cicada stuck to the glass for several seconds before falling off.
Jiang Ning finally saw it clearly—they were flying fish!
As far as the eye could see, the sea surface was covered with them. As the morning light rose, they leaped out of the water, spread their wings, and soared into the air.
Jiang Ning had seen it on TV before; it was a visual feast that made people marvel at the ocean’s magic and power.
But experiencing it firsthand made her scalp tingle.
The two quickly got out of bed and rushed to the deck.
The door to the deck was closed, and the fierce dog kept scratching at it.
Doudou reacted quickly and appeared earlier than the two. She didn’t know the situation and held a gun in her hand, with a vigilant and serious expression.
“It’s a type of flying fish,” Huo Yishen explained to his sister.
Doudou, who had never seen such a sea spectacle, felt delighted at the mention of flying fish.
Coke suddenly opened the door and rushed out first. “Woof!”
The sound wasn’t right; they seemed frightened.
Jiang Ning and Huo Yishen came over a step later. Before they reached the door, they saw Doudou’s smiling face suddenly change. She raised her gun and fired…
The two of them jumped and ran over. Coke, who was always fearless and fought to the death, was so scared that he ran back with his tail between his legs.
“Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh…”
“Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh…”
Flying fish were jumping on the deck. There were actually more than a dozen flying in, spreading their wings and pouncing on Doudou and Coke.
Were they crazy? Or haunted?
Jiang Ning was shocked. Seeing one of the fish was about to bite Coke’s nose, she pulled out her Tang sword and rushed over to slash it.
The Tang knife was sharp and cut the flying fish in half.
The two halves of the body fell to the ground. The fish’s head, with sharp teeth, kept opening and closing its mouth. Its large, protruding eyes were colorful, and the wings continued to flap vigorously.
It was hideous enough to make anyone who saw it want to vomit.
Not only did the size increase several times, but their vitality was amazing. It was not an exaggeration to call it a fish zombie.
Jiang Ning, who had never flinched while killing people, felt her heart tremble at the sight of these fish zombie, especially seeing the deck outside was covered with fish.
It was densely packed, layer upon layer, struggling and flying frantically.
At that moment, Jiang Ning swore she never wanted to eat fish again in her life!
Flying fish fluttered around, and their vitality was extremely strong. It was not easy to hit them with bullets that were too small. Even if they hit the fish, they would not die instantly.
The guns were useless.
If Huo Yishen hadn’t rushed over to protect her, Doudou would have been bitten by the flying fish.
Jiang Ning threw out two baseball bats. “Coke, get out of the way!”
The dog retreated, and the three of them fought to kill the fish.
Just after killing several fish, many more fish flew in, jumping on the ground, flying in the air, and creating a mess.
Fighting and killing, before they knew it, there was a pile of fish corpses on the ground, and they couldn’t kill them all.
Huo Yishen smashed several fish in a row and took the opportunity to close the door.
Jiang Ning’s knife was very sharp, and she killed all the remaining dozen fish in the aisle.
Thump, thump, thump, bang, bang, bang!
Tens of thousands of flying fish passed by, flying and crashing everywhere. At least one or two thousand landed on the deck. Those unable to return to the sea showed their fury, jumping around and constantly hitting the door, as if they might break in at any moment.
The aisle was filled with blood, the air thick with the smell of fish.
For heaven’s sake, Jiang Ning didn’t expect that killing fish was much more difficult than killing people.
Jiang Ning, who was sweating all over and her adrenaline soaring, asked anxiously: “Doudou, Coke, are you okay?”
Both of them were covered in fish blood, so it was hard to tell if they were injured.
Doudou quickly checked herself, while the previously fearless dog, now shaken in confidence, turned and ran away.
Jiang Ning hurriedly chased after him and took a lot of effort to drag the frightened dog out from the corner of the bottom deck.
The dog was thoroughly checked all over, again and again.
Fortunately, it gave in in time and no wounds were found on its body. Otherwise, with the sharp wings and teeth of the flying fish, it would have been easy to leave marks on the dog. What if the wound got infected and caused a virus?
Although it’s unlikely, they couldn’t afford to be careless.
The dog wasn’t injured, but its heart was shattered like glass. Jiang Ning quickly comforted it, “My Coke is smart. This kind of fish is poisonous and cannot be touched. If you touch it, you will die. If you see them in the future, stay away from them, understand?”
The dog fell to the ground and covered his face with his paws.
Doudou was also unharmed, and the three of them, along with the dog, had a fright for nothing.
As for the fish on the deck, let them be. Anyway, they will die sooner or later if they leave the water, so let them be arrogant for a while.
Admitting defeat isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
They locked all the doors and windows, regardless of whether it was a storm or heavy rain outside.
Although they were not injured, they were stained with a lot of fish blood and sea smell. They quickly disinfected from head to toe and then rinsed with hot water.
After cleaning, they disinfected again and soaked all their clothes in disinfectants.
By the time they finished cleaning up the fish corpses and bloodstains in the aisle, three hours had passed, and the sun was high in the sky. The fish on the deck were all dead.
The dog behaved well, while the three of them put on protective suits and cleaned the yacht, sweeping all the fish corpses into the sea.
Don’t underestimate the fish corpses; they are everywhere, even in the corners, and they had to be repeatedly cleaned. The disinfectant water was wiped and mopped twice.
The three of them did not slack off, but it still took a whole day to clean it up, and they were so tired that their waists were almost broken.
They quickly took out a six-figure massage chair to rejuvenate themselves.
Exhaustion aside, the billion-dollar yacht was damaged just because of the passing flying fish.
The teeth and wings of the mutant flying fish are very sharp, and they actually made a lot of scratches on the deck, handrails, doors, glass, etc.
If it were before the end of the world, the repair and maintenance costs alone would be astronomical.
Ugh, this damn flying fish, what a pain!
Jiang Ning was lying on the massage chair, puzzled: “Last time when we were in the submarine, we saw many marine creatures that had not mutated. Why do they all seem to have mutated now?”
Whether it is the yellow croaker or the flying fish, they are not large or aggressive species.
But now, they seemed like they had escaped from a mental institution.
Not being an expert, Huo Yishen couldn’t explain it either. “Maybe last time we were in the inland sea, so there weren’t as many mutated creatures.”
They could only think of it that way. But Jiang Ning still had concerns, “Coke’s self-esteem took a hit. As its trainer, you need to guide it properly, so it doesn’t develop issues.”
Coke was about 10 years old now.
The dog’s age weighed heavily on Jiang Ning’s mind. According to the normal lifespan of dogs, Coke was already in its middle to senior years.
But from Huo Yishen’s examination, Coke’s body was still at its peak, so it shouldn’t age too quickly.
It is probably related to the mutation caused by natural disasters.
Jiang Ning dreamt of having Coke by her side forever, but mutation is a weird thing. Although he is in good health now, who knows if he might suddenly age rapidly one day?
Whenever she thought about it, her heart ached.
So, she made sure to ask Huo Yishen to check on Coke every once in a while and spoil him wholeheartedly.
Honestly, she felt that if she ever had kids, she wouldn’t spoil them as much as she did to Coke.
Sure enough, the trainer worked wonders, and the dog became lively again.
Before going to bed at night, all the doors and windows were checked to make sure they were safe before turning off the lights.
Fortunately, there were no more attacks the next day, but the shaking of the yacht was increasing.
It was another sunny day, but the wind had picked up…

Please bear with me if I didn’t update right away 😅. I was either buried in work 💼… or buried in rereading the book 📖. (P.S. Most of the time I’m rereading it 🤭—so you know just how good the story is! 🌟)
