Chapter 18: Healing Achieved
Michelle remained silent. The props indeed came from Ruden, but they certainly did not exhibit the defensive effects shown. She could not provide a convincing explanation to the public.
She had just been promoted to a candidate saintess, and her qualifications were still too shallow.
Leo sighed inwardly and decided to lend her a hand.
He leaped over the crowd and jumped onto the high platform.
His appearance immediately captured everyone’s attention.
“That armor is indeed impressive, but I don’t quite believe it. Can we conduct another experiment?”
Yuris was still lying on the ground, and Leo ignored him, looking at the merchant controlled by the holy knights.
“No problem, we can do it several times.”
The merchant was secretly pleased; he was sure he would win.
“Alright, I need four people to help. Who’s willing to come up?”
“I, I, I!”
Heles raised her hand, but Leo ignored her.
“I will!”
Soon, four adventurers that Leo did not know stepped forward, maintaining a skeptical attitude towards the armor.
“Great! Since you believe in your armor so much, you don’t mind conducting the experiment yourself, right?”
Leo revealed a devilish smile, and the merchant felt uneasy, cold sweat pouring down his face. “What are you going to do?”
“Put it on him!”
Under the manipulation of several people, the merchant donned the armor.
Leo took out a small knife, removed the gloves and shoes of the armor, exposing the merchant’s hands and feet.
“You four, hold his hands and feet, and don’t let him move.”
“What are you doing? That’s not how armor is used! Stop it!” the merchant shouted in panic.
“Whether that’s how it’s used or not is not for you to decide. It can’t be that just because the armor is missing a few pieces, it loses its effectiveness. Master Ruden’s work is not that useless.”
“Hmph! Do as you wish,” the merchant pretended to be tough.
“Alright! I’m going to make my move. I will cut off your limbs, starting with half. If you can still move after that, I will cut off all your limbs. Of course, this process will be very slow, and you will gradually feel your limbs leaving your body. Don’t be afraid; trust your armor. It will definitely restore you.”
Leo wore a friendly smile. “Of course, if your limbs really get cut off, don’t blame me. It’s your armor that’s the problem. If it can restore you, I will finally cut off your neck. I believe you will still live well under my sword, right?”
A demon! This guy must be a demon!
The merchant seemed to see Leo with demon wings and horns, holding a knife and fork, ready to feast on him.
Leo took out a sword and lightly touched the armor, causing a crack to appear.
Hiss!
Soon, a tearing sensation spread through the merchant’s leg.
Leo’s smile gradually turned mocking.
This guy really meant what he said, and fear appeared on the merchant’s face.
“Stop! Stop! My leg is going to break!”
“It’s fine; even if it breaks, it can be restored. I will reattach it for you later.”
“It won’t restore.”
“It will! It definitely will! You have to believe me, no, believe in your armor,” Leo comforted seriously.
“I’m sorry, I was wrong! I was lying! I am willing to accept any punishment! Stop him! Stop him!”
Tears streamed down the merchant’s face, his chubby face wrinkled, and a pungent smell filled the air.
“How stinky!”
Leo immediately distanced himself from the merchant.
“This is really a scam!”
Some were disappointed, looking at the merchant’s appearance, while others were quite pleased.
“Deserved!”
“Quick, return our gold coins.”
The merchant’s fate was sealed, and the gold coins he had scammed were returned to everyone by Michelle.
The crowd had almost dispersed, and all the adventurers who assisted the merchant, except for Sang, had been controlled.
Facing an S-rank holy knight, Sang could not hold out for long.
“Quite impressive!”
Nathan and the others seemed to see Leo in a new light. He looked like an ordinary boy, yet his methods were so… how should one say, impressive.
It felt like anyone who offended him would regret it.
As the matter came to a close, the holy knights took the merchant and his group away, teleported by Michelle.
“Thank you, Leo. Thanks to you, everything was resolved satisfactorily.”
After the holy knights left, Michelle returned to her original demeanor, her expression becoming gentle and approachable.
“No need to thank me; it was just a small effort.”
“I am still too immature. If it were another candidate saintess, she would have handled this matter more appropriately. But having your help was truly wonderful.”
A heartfelt smile blossomed on Michelle’s face.
Leo was momentarily stunned, as if he saw a holy white light radiating from Michelle, feeling healed.
…
After finishing lunch and resting for a while, Leo and the others headed straight to the mission location.
“I’ll accompany you to the mission location. I won’t help you complete the mission, but I will step in if unexpected situations arise.”
The other members of the team stayed in the village, with only Jin following along.
He held a map in his hand. “The location that Heles mentioned should be inside that canyon. Be careful; besides the wind wolf pack, there are other monsters lurking around.”
After crossing a mountain, they had already entered the territory of the wind wolf pack, and the mission location was in sight.
“Awoo!”
A wolf howl came from the distant hillside, revealing two wind wolves.
“It’s the guards of the wind wolves; we’ve been spotted.”
Seeing the guards, they were not far from the wolf den.
Leo took out a cheap wooden bow and arrow from his storage bag, which was no different from the bows used by hunters. He nocked an arrow, aimed, and with a whoosh, the arrow flew out, hitting one of the wind wolves in the head. With a whimper, the wind wolf fell.
“I didn’t expect your archery to be quite good.”
Jin praised him.
“Just practice.”
Leo often hunted out of necessity; if he didn’t hit his prey, he would go hungry for the day.
“Another one got away.”
The other wind wolf cleverly hid on the other side of the mountainside.
“It won’t escape.”
Leo closed his eyes, and the surrounding environment clearly appeared in his vision.
Using Sword Heart Clarity, a 360-degree view of the surroundings appeared in his mind, and the running wind wolf was captured by Leo.
He drew the bow, aimed at the sky, and the arrow flew in a parabolic arc. With a cry of anguish, the other wind wolf also fell.
“Leo, have you reached a master level in archery?”
Jin was stunned by this feat. The distance to the wind wolf was three to four hundred meters, and he couldn’t see the wind wolf’s position. Yet, Leo hit it with one shot, using such a poor-quality bow and arrow. Judging the prey’s position based on the wind and grass movements was something only a master archer could do. Even Heles might not be able to hit it with one arrow.
“No, it’s relying on the assistance of other skills.”
Leo put away the bow and arrow; the wolf pack would probably be coming soon.
“Awoo!”
As expected, howls of wolves echoed from afar.
Soon, a large group of wind wolves appeared ahead, running to the sides, trying to surround them.
There were many wolves, probably over a hundred, forming a tightening encirclement.
“Next, it’s up to you. If there’s danger, I will step in.”
Jin summoned a giant snake, which swallowed him whole and then burrowed into the ground.
Isn’t that disgusting? Leo certainly couldn’t stand it.
Michelle and Yuris also looked at Jin’s actions with strange expressions.
Only the three of them remained on the scene, and the encirclement of the wolf pack was getting smaller. On the hillside, the lead wolf appeared, howling, and the wolf pack received the command to attack immediately.
Leo and the others stood back to back, ready to face the wind wolves attacking from all directions.
