Chapter 17: The Chicken Fight
“The game we’re playing today is—Chicken Fight.”
Jiang Mi blinked her beautiful eyes and instinctively lifted her left leg to rest it on her knee. “Is it the chicken fight I’m thinking of?”
“Yes, it’s exactly the one you’re thinking of. Mimi’s posture is spot on. If you don’t know how to do it, follow her example.”
Swish, swish, swish—dozens of eyes turned to look at her.
Jiang Mi: “……”
But soon, she smiled slightly, held her left ankle with both hands, and hopped twice on the spot. “Just like this. Got it?”
Cheng Lin immediately responded, “Got it. I used to play this all the time as a kid.”
Lu Yu also chirped, “Me too, I played it all day long when I was little.”
“The rules are simple: if you step out of bounds or stand on both feet, you’re out. Girls first, then the boys. Whoever wins in the end is the victor. Girls, you start.”
Soon, a staff member drew a square about five square meters in size on the grass, clearly marking the arena.
Jiang Mi, Lu Yu, and Chen Wanruo stepped into the square right away, but Bai Ruoruo hesitated, staying where she was. “I’m wearing a short skirt, what should I do?”
Shen Mingxuan immediately offered, “I’ll go back with you to change into pants.”
Bai Ruoruo looked pitifully at the other three male guests, “But that would waste everyone’s time.”
[Poor Ruoruo, the other three female guests must have planned this together, purposely not telling her so she’d be embarrassed.]
[Some fans are really brainless. Bai Ruoruo is a popular star, with tons of fans protecting her. Even if the show forgot about someone, they wouldn’t forget to remind her.]
[Truth revealed: she wore a short skirt to show off her legs and now she’s pretending to be modest. If you’re going to act like that, don’t try to be a saint.]
[When the director asked Jiang Mi to demonstrate the chicken fight earlier, I cringed for her, but she handled it gracefully. Bai Ruoruo should learn from her.]
The director frowned, glancing at an assistant for confirmation.
The assistant nodded seriously, indicating that Bai Ruoruo had indeed been reminded.
Since that was the case, she was clearly doing this on purpose.
Sure enough, after some more hesitation, Bai Ruoruo awkwardly held down her skirt and stepped into the square. The girls’ chicken fight began.
Jiang Mi lazily yawned. Honestly, she didn’t want to win because, with her villainous character setup, even if she won, she’d only be able to choose the male lead, Shen Mingxuan. It might be better to lose and wait for someone else to choose her.
But as soon as the whistle blew, a competitive fire ignited within her.
The word “lose” wasn’t in Jiang Mi’s dictionary!
The lazy, delicate mole at the corner of her eye suddenly turned sharp.
Lu Yu’s radar instantly went off, “Mimi!”
Jiang Mi blinked her beautiful eyes, “Little Taro, how do you want to exit?”
“Gracefully,” Lu Yu blurted out before realizing how weak that sounded. She cleared her throat, puffed out her chest, and raised her head. “Come on, Mimi, it’s time for the final battle.”
Jiang Mi chuckled, hopped on one leg toward Lu Yu, and when she got close, lifted her knee. Lu Yu immediately lost her balance and started to fall backward.
“Ah—”
Jiang Mi quickly reached out, catching Lu Yu by the waist, pulling her back into her arms before she could hit the ground.
[Haha, what a classic rom-com scene.]
[Sisters, let’s ship these two!]
[Jiang Mi is maxing out on girlfriend points, and Lu Yu is super soft and cute—they’re perfect together.]
[Mimi, watch out! Someone’s getting jealous!]
Lu Yu, still breathing heavily from the scare, thanked her, “Thanks, Mimi. Otherwise, I would’ve taken a big tumble.”
Jiang Mi raised an eyebrow, “I promised you’d exit gracefully.”
Lu Yu paused, then burst out laughing, “You really did.”
On the other side, Bai Ruoruo suddenly muttered under her breath, “It seems like Mimi broke the rules.”
Lu Yu’s ears twitched, and she immediately jumped up, defending her, “No, she didn’t!”
Bai Ruoruo’s eyes turned red as she weakly mumbled, “I don’t mean that Mimi broke the rules, but how could she have pulled you up with just one leg?”
[I hadn’t noticed until Bai Ruoruo pointed it out. How did Jiang Mi do that?]
[I tried it myself—it’s hard enough just to balance on one leg, let alone pull someone up. She must have cheated.]
[This time, I’m with Bai Ruoruo. Jiang Mi definitely broke the rules.]
Even some of the guests and staff at the scene started discussing the possibility of a rule violation, and Bai Ruoruo proudly lifted her chin, feeling she had finally won a round.
Lu Yu wanted to explain but had been so flustered earlier that she didn’t see clearly how Jiang Mi did it. She was so anxious that her face turned red.
Jiang Mi calmly smiled, still following the rules as she hopped over to Bai Ruoruo on one leg.
Bai Ruoruo’s eyes widened in panic, “W-What are you going to do?”
Jiang Mi smirked, “I’ll show you whether I broke the rules.”
With that, she lifted her knee, and Bai Ruoruo screamed, staggering backward in panic.
Jiang Mi caught her again mid-air with one hand.
However, Bai Ruoruo didn’t get the same treatment as Lu Yu.
Jiang Mi only made sure she was standing up straight before letting go.
Bai Ruoruo flailed like an octopus, and to avoid falling awkwardly, she had no choice but to land on both feet.
Jiang Mi clapped her hands, “Now you’re the one breaking the rules, not me.”
Bai Ruoruo bit her lip, her eyes filled with resentment.
Her plan to kick Jiang Mi out backfired, making her the one who got kicked out instead, and Jiang Mi ended up stealing the spotlight again.
[I’m stunned. Is Jiang Mi some kind of former special forces soldier? Her core strength is insane!]
[Jiang Mi mentioned she was out jogging earlier, and I didn’t believe her, thinking it was just for show. But now, it’s more than just exercising—I suspect she secretly learned martial arts or something.]
Bai Ruoruo forced a smile, “I must’ve seen it wrong.”
Jiang Mi squinted her eyes and smiled, “It’s okay, we’re best friends. I won’t get mad if you accuse me, but you shouldn’t wrongly accuse others so easily in the future.”
Bai Ruoruo’s smile nearly cracked, “I didn’t mean to.”
Jiang Mi smiled lightly.
Bai Ruoruo could no longer hold on and left with her head down and her face darkened.
Chen Wanruo, who was still in the arena, naturally wasn’t a match for Jiang Mi. She lost in one move.
“The winner of the girls’ round is Jiang Mi. Congratulations on earning the privilege of choosing a male guest for a date.”
Jiang Mi: “…….” Damn her competitive streak! She didn’t even want to win!
Soon, it was time for the boys’ round.
If the girls’ round was just Jiang Mi knocking people out one by one, the boys’ round was more like an all-out brawl.
