Chapter 6 Posting Notices

On this day, Shu Yuwan was making clothes for Shaoyu at home when Qing He walked in with a face full of restrained anger.

“Madam, the Third Young Master actually wrote a notice about divorcing Miss, and it’s posted everywhere. It’s really outrageous! How will Madam face others in the future!”

After listening, Shu Yuwan’s eyes lit up and she asked, “Everywhere? What does the notice say?”

Qing He hesitated and still handed the paper to Shu Yuwan, saying, “I had Lanye tear one off for me.”

Shu Yuwan unfolded it, and the content was the same as the divorce letter sent by An Shaoyu the night before, except for the part about entrusting Shaoyu to her care, which Shu Yuwan didn’t mind as long as it didn’t affect her taking Shaoyu away.

Mother Zhao and Qing Dai came over, supporting Shu Yuwan from both sides. Mother Zhao said, “Madam, don’t get angry. You still have a little baby hin your belly. It’s not worth getting upset and harming the child.”

Seeing these three people looking at her nervously, Shu Yuwan couldn’t help but smile. She calmed down a bit and said solemnly, “I know you’re worried, but I’m not the same as before. I won’t be sad about this matter at all. Leaving the Anding Marquis Mansion might not be a bad thing.”

They was all surprised to hear this.

However, they thought Miss’s words were very reasonable and they listened to her.

“Qing Dai, bring pen and ink.”

Qing He carefully helped Shu Yuwan sit down, and Shu Yuwan organized her thoughts, then wrote a letter and handed it to Qing Dai, saying, “Hurry and send this to my Shu Family.”

“I’ll go right away.”

Mother Zhao comforted, “Madam, things may not necessarily come to this point. The people in the Anding Marquis Mansion won’t let the Third Young Master act recklessly, and our Shu Family is not insignificant either.”

Shu Yuwan said calmly, “Mother Zhao, I know that a woman who divorces will be criticized for a lifetime, but look, I’m afraid I’ll also be criticized for a lifetime now. What’s the difference?”

Mother Zhao sighed, feeling resentful towards the Third Young Master. Her young lady was as precious as a pearl, perfect in every way. How could the Third Young Master be so blind not to cherish her?

 Wei Shi looked at the notice in front of her, feeling dizzy with anger.

She immediately shouted, “Go, bring that troublemaker to me!”

Mother Zhao  cautiously said, “Madam, the Third Young Master has already been summoned by the Grandmother and is currently in the Fushou Hall.”

“Go to the Fushou Hall.”  Wei Shi didn’t finish her words before she rushed off like a gust of wind, with Mother Wei Shi and the maidservants quickly following.

In the Fushou Hall, An Shaoyu was kneeling in the middle of the room.

The Grandmother’s face was dark as she asked, “Shaoyu, tell me, did that Miss Zhao give you this idea?”

“No,” An Shaoyu quickly denied.

“Then who gave you this idea?”  Wei Shi entered without even greeting the Grandmother, and asked.

“It was Yuwan.” An Shaoyu hesitated for a moment, but still confessed honestly. He was afraid his grandmother would blame Qing Qing.

 Wei Shi was taken aback and then said, “You troublemaker, are you trying to kill me! Yuwan did say those words, but she didn’t give you the idea. You took it seriously and actually posted the notice. Are you happy only when you disgrace the Anding Mansion?”

 Wei Shi was truly heartbroken. This was her youngest son, whom she had pampered since childhood.

The eldest son had to bear the rise and fall of the Anding Mansion, so she had to be strict. But when it came to the youngest son, her motherly heart couldn’t control itself anymore. She never expected to raise her youngest son into the irresponsible person he was now.

“Shaoyu, was it really Yuwan who gave you this idea?” The Grandmother sat at the head, staring closely at An Shaoyu’s eyes, and asked sternly.

“Yes!”

“What was her intention?”

An Shaoyu lowered his head, unsure of how to answer.

“Speak!”

The Grandmother shouted loudly.

An Shaoyu felt flustered and a hint of guilt crept up within him.

“She said she would rather go on a hunger strike than divorce me. The days after the divorce would probably be similar to being divorced. It’s better to fulfill her wish.”

Upon hearing this response, Wei Shi closed her eyes. She thought, how could it be Yuwan’s idea? What woman would suggest divorcing her husband to herself? Perhaps her third daughter-in-law was heartbroken, which led her to say such things. Little did she know that her son would take it as a good idea.

The Grandmother was also somewhat disappointed. She had hoped to shift some of the blame onto Shu Yuwan to deal with the Shu Family’s inquiries.

“Grandmother, what should we do now?”  Wei Shi was also at a loss for a moment.

“Shaoyu, what do you suggest we do next?” The Grandmother didn’t respond to Wei Shi but asked An Shaoyu instead.

“I want a divorce.”

“Divorce. What kind of spell did that merchant’s daughter cast on you! Let me tell you, even if we divorce, I will never agree to let that merchant’s daughter into this house!”  Wei Shi scolded angrily.

“Lock up the Third Young Master, have a few servants watch over him. Whoever dares to let the Third Young Master escape, be prepared to be sold off.” The Grandmother sat upright, calmly giving orders.

“Grandmother!” An Shaoyu objected, but no one paid attention to him.

 Wei Shi then arranged for it to be done.

“Prepare a carriage, you will come with me to the Shu Family.” The Grandmother said.

“Grandmother, what should we say when we get there?”  Wei Shi asked worriedly.

“Do you expect the Shu Family to come to us for answers?”

“Ah…”

 Wei Shi was scolded, too preoccupied to have any emotions, feeling nothing but helplessness.

She then went to the storeroom, selected some valuable gifts, and brought them along. After everything was arranged, she invited the Grandmother, and the two of them, mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, went to the Shu Family.

At the Shu Family.

Madam Shu had just finished reading her daughter’s letter and was filled with anger.

Earlier, her daughter had written back saying that her son-in-law was willing to divorce his pregnant wife for a merchant’s daughter. She had thought of going to the Anding Marquis Mansion to get some clarity, but she held back to avoid making things difficult for her daughter in her husband’s family. Now, An Shaoyu had completely disregarded her daughter’s dignity, plastering notices all over the capital. Since her daughter wanted a divorce, as a mother, she had to support her daughter no matter what.

At this moment, when the gatekeeper reported that the Grandmother and Madam of the Anding Marquis Mansion had arrived, she immediately went to meet them.

Madam Shu paid her respects to the Grandmother and said, “Grandmother, please be at ease.”

She then greetedWei Shi with a hint of sarcasm, “What wind blew the two of you here?”

Madam Shu was extremely impolite.

 Wei Shi felt displeased but refrained from reacting. After all, their side was in the wrong in this matter, so they had prepared themselves to not be well-received when they arrived. Today, she was with her mother-in-law, and she didn’t even know if Madam Shu would see her alone.

Thinking about it,Wei Shi let go of her anger.

The Grandmother spoke, “Xiangya, we are here today to apologize and make amends!”
