Chapter 9 Shu Mansion Visitors

“Grandmother, Minister Shu and Madam Shu have arrived with the two young masters from the Marquis Mansion!” Mother Zhao walked in beside the Grandmother, carefully reporting.

The Grandmother furrowed her brows and asked, “How is the matter with Shaoyu’s notice being handled?”

“Everyone outside now knows it was done by that merchant’s daughter. Although there are still some doubts and discussions, it’s hard to avoid.”

“That’s good. And how is Shaoyu?”

“The Third Young Master has been normal recently. The Master is already accompanying Minister Shu and Madam Shu.”

“Alright, bring me a change of clothes, I’ll go see them.”

The Grandmother hurried to the main hall, where Mr. Shu, Madam Shu, and the two young masters from the Shu Mansion paid their respects to the Grandmother. Madam Shu said, “We should be the ones to pay respects to the Grandmother!”

After all, the Grandmother’s seniority was there.

The Grandmother greeted warmly, “No need for formalities. I’m happy to see you all. Come and have a look. The two young masters are truly talented, much better than our unruly boy at home.”

“Grandmother, you flatter us!”

“Since the Grandmother is here, let’s be direct. Our family has thought it over for a long time. Since Shaoyu doesn’t want to be with Yuwan anymore, let them divorce!” Minister Shu spoke directly.

“Mr. Shu, this matter must not happen! The issue with the notice has been clarified as the scheme of that merchant’s daughter, not Shaoyu’s intention,” the Master hurriedly interjected.

“Yes, Mr. Shu, Yuwan is currently pregnant with Shaoyu’s child. It’s not appropriate to ask them to divorce at this time!”  Wei Shi said nervously.

“Even if Yuwan wasn’t pregnant, our Anding Marquis Mansion only recognizes Yuwan as the daughter-in-law. Mr. Shu, no matter how Shaoyu misbehaves, our Anding Marquis Mansion will not act recklessly. In this mansion, it’s not yet Shaoyu’s turn to make decisions. Mr. Shu, rest assured, Yuwan’s position canno’t be replace,” the Grandmother assured.

Minister Shu remained unmoved, still looking concerned.

He replied, “Naturally, I believe in the mansion. However, I heard that Shaoyu has already given the divorce letter to Yuwan, and it’s similar to the content on the notice. It shows his determination. Although the mansion is currently pressuring him, once Shaoyu can take charge himself, Yuwan may have no place in the house! Yuwan, naive and inexperienced in the ways of the world, needs us to plan for her future.”

The An Shaoyud his wife, along with the Grandmother, were greatly surprised. They had no idea that Shaoyu had written a divorce letter, and they hadn’t received any information about it.

“Where did Mr. Shu get this information? Is there a misunderstanding?”

“I have indeed seen this divorce letter!”

The Master knew in his heart that it was probably true! This disobedient son!

“If you don’t believe it, you can ask Shaoyu to come over.”

The Master also wanted to ask, but he couldn’t do it in front of Mr. Shu, as it wouldn’t end well.

“No need for that. Even if this rascal wrote it, it doesn’t count,” the Master said.

“Mr. Master, once it’s written, it can’t just be disregarded. If the Anding Mansion can’t guarantee Yuwan’s future, we’re not comfortable letting her stay at the mansion!” Madam Shu’s tone turned colder.

“Xiangya, it may not be good for a woman to return to her family after a divorce,” the Grandmother advised.

“Grandmother, I don’t think Yuwan is necessarily better off at the mansion than after a divorce,” Madam Shu mother of Yuwan retorted.

The Grandmother was very displeased but remained patient, saying, “Then, Xiangya, what do you think would guarantee Yuwan’s

“From now on, Shaoyu cannot take concubines, whether outside or within the family. Only children born to Yuwan are allowed, no other illegitimate children. This matter requires a written guarantee from Shaoyu and the Master!” Madam Shu said, “Furthermore, after Yuwan gives birth to a son, the Anding Mansion needs to bypass Shaoyu and directly nurture Yuwan’s son. The family’s assets from this branch should also be handed directly to Yuwan’s child.”

“If the mansion agrees, we can overlook the recent events.” Mr. Shu continued from where Madam Shu left off.

The Grandmother glanced at the An Shaoyud  Wei Shi but remained silent.

 Wei Shi anxiously said, “Mother-in-law, if Yuwan doesn’t give birth to a son, won’t that be the end for Shaoyu’s line!”

“That’s how it’s meant to be!” Madam Shu said coldly, “Besides, how does the Master’s wife know that Yuwan can’t give birth to a son? As long as both Shaoyu and Yuwan are healthy, have a good relationship, and give birth to a son, it’s just a matter of time.”

“How can you say my son’s line is meant to end! I didn’t say Yuwan can’t give birth to a son, but there’s always a possibility in everything!”

“Then let them divorce!” Madam Shu said coldly.

 Wei Shi sighed, still feeling uneasy. However, given the current situation, she didn’t know what to say. She felt frustrated and anxious.

The An Shaoyud the Grandmother exchanged a glance and immediately understood each other’s opinions. They decided to prevent the divorce for now. As for the future, if Yuwan truly couldn’t give birth to a son, they would arrange for it to happen discreetly outside. The Shu Mansion couldn’t monitor every moment.

Madam Shu likely considered this point, which is why she requested the Anding Mansion to directly nurture Yuwan’s son, bypassing Shaoyu. However, Shaoyu was the youngest son, with two older brothers above him. There wasn’t much expectation for him to begin with, and the same applied to his son.

“Master!”  Wei Shi disagreed.

The Master ignored her and instructed the servant beside him, “Go and fetch the Third Young Master.” He then whispered some instructions to the servant.

“What!” After hearing the servant’s words, An Shaoyu couldn’t believe that his father would agree to such conditions, completely disregarding his dignity!

“Young Master, the Master said if you don’t agree, Miss Zhao has no reason to live!” The servant spoke cautiously, head bowed.

An Shaoyu’s face turned pale, speechless.

After a moment of silence, the servant had to urge carefully, “Young Master, the Master is waiting for you.”

“Let’s go.”

Since his father didn’t care about him at all, he didn’t need to worry too much. If he had to antagonize the Marquis Mansion, so be it. There was no good outcome for him either way.

Upon hearing that his parents and brothers had arrived, Shu Yuwan, who had been waiting, was informed by the maid keeping an eye on the situation that the Master’s servant had gone to fetch An Shaoyu. She knew the time had come.

Securing the small bag containing chicken blood tightly to her skirt, she adjusted her clothes and said, “Let’s go, let’s go and see.”

Accompanied by Qing Dai and Qing He, Shu Yuwan walked towards the Courtyard not far from the main hall, a path that led to the main hall. Yuwan said, “Let’s rest here for a while.”

“Madam must be tired,” Qing He expressed concern.

“Yes, I’m a bit tired.”

After sitting for a while, Shu Yuwan saw the servant leading An Shaoyu towards them!”

Shu Yuwan suddenly realized what will gonna happened when go together towards the courtyard. The scene that she see a blood in her thigh.
