Chapter 64: It’s good, but my heart might not be able to take it.
After finishing the first batch of roasted meat, Leo was about seven-tenths full.
There was still a whole pig in the oven.
They took it out and placed it on the clean, large leaves stacked up, and then the two began to eat.
“I’m full.”
Leo only ate a small portion of the whole pig, while Michelle was still eating.
The roasted meat gradually decreased, slowly revealing the white skeleton.
In the end, the entire pig was completely eaten clean.
“I’m full too, I’m a bit stuffed.”
Michelle patted her small belly, which was slightly bulging.
Suddenly, she noticed Leo’s wide eyes, looking at her in disbelief.
“What’s wrong?”
“With so much meat, it seems to have disappeared into your stomach. Is your stomach a bottomless pit?”
That whole pig was an adult sprinting pig, weighing several hundred kilograms, and Michelle had managed to finish it, only feeling a bit stuffed.
Leo had a whole new understanding of Michelle’s gluttonous nature.
“Do you eat this much every meal?”
“Of course not!”
Michelle immediately retorted, “Although it’s fine to eat a little less usually, it does make me feel hungry.”
“Alright, alright! I admit I can eat a lot.”
The saintess curled up her body, burying her face in her knees, revealing her two round, shiny big eyes as she secretly observed him, nervously asking, “Would you hate me for being like this?”
So cute!
After spending time together, the saintess no longer treated him as an outsider, revealing more sides of herself that he had never seen before.
It’s good, but my heart might not be able to take it.
“Of course not, but…”
Leo showed a mysterious smile, “Saintess, you wouldn’t want others to know that you’re a glutton, right?”
Michelle was momentarily stunned by his words; although she didn’t understand his meaning, she felt it wasn’t something good.
She took out her staff, wanting to wake Leo up, but the two were a bit too far apart, and she couldn’t reach him, waving in the air a few times.
Alright, the saintess gave up.
After finishing their meal and resting for a while, the two continued on their journey.
Surrounded by wilderness, they walked for a long time from morning till evening, and the sun gradually set.
With no other choice, they had to find another place to rest.
Michelle opened up a cave again and took out a tent to set up.
“Since you’ve fully recovered, you can sleep outside tonight.”
Michelle walked into the tent, smiling slightly, leaving Leo outside.
“It hurts so much. I don’t know why my heart hurts so much. Did I accidentally injure my heart during the battle with the S-class mage?”
Leo clutched his chest, showing a painful expression.
The saintess poked her little head out of the tent.
“I know, just come in.”
Her face was flushed, and aside from her two shy, watery eyes peeking out, the rest was hidden beneath the tent fabric.
Leo walked in; after all, they had already slept together before. Once there was a first time, there would be a second, so he felt much more relaxed.
Of course, he wouldn’t really do anything.
The two traveled for three or four days and finally emerged from the desolate mountains, seeing roads ahead.
Their spirits lifted, the fatigue accumulated over the past few days seemed to vanish.
“Let’s go to the nearest village with people.”
Michelle said.
However, the nearby area was still sparsely populated; they didn’t see a single merchant, but they did encounter quite a few monsters.
After walking for another day, they had to camp out again at night.
“Don’t be discouraged; we’ve already left that forest. As long as we keep going forward, we’ll soon find a town with people.”
Seeing Michelle looking a bit worried, Leo comforted her.
The longer they delayed, the greater the chance that those cultists would leave; they had already wasted several days.
“Yeah, I know.”
The next day, the two continued on their journey.
Finally, in the afternoon, they saw a small village.
“Leo, look, there are people.”
Michelle’s face broke into a joyful smile.
After days of living like wildlings, they finally found a village with people.
Although this village was small, they could learn the way to the big town from the villagers.
They crossed hills and rivers and arrived outside the village.
This village was quite simple, with only a few dozen households, and there were few people walking around outside.
Most of the houses were thatched cottages, lacking a sense of vitality.
When Leo and Michelle appeared, the villagers looked at them with caution.
The children playing in the village stopped, their gazes filled with fear.
Michelle was unclear about the situation and wanted to step forward to talk, but didn’t know how to start.
“Where is your village chief?” Leo stepped forward and asked.
An old man leaning on a cane was helped over by a middle-aged woman.
Upon seeing Michelle’s attire, he was immediately astonished and lowered his posture, “Oh, it’s the esteemed saintess of the church. I apologize for the rudeness earlier. I didn’t know you had come to our village. Is there something you need?”
“I would like to ask, where is this place? Is it within the territory of the Satilon Empire?”
“This is the southern border of the Satilon Empire. Beyond that forest is the territory of other vassal states.”
The village chief pointed in a direction, which was indeed the way Leo and Michelle had come from.
It really was the border; no wonder Michelle couldn’t sense the location of the imperial capital.
“Do you know where the nearest big town is? We have important matters to attend to.”
Michelle asked again.
“Well…”
The village chief looked a bit troubled, “Robbers are rampant nearby, and the merchants passing through have all been robbed. Almost no merchants come to this area anymore. It would be quite difficult to reach the town.”
“That’s alright; just tell us how to get there.”
“Absolutely not! The robbers nearby are very powerful; they don’t care if you’re a saintess or not.”
“Don’t worry, we’re very strong.”
“Well then,” the village chief pointed to a road, “Follow this road, and after about a round, you’ll arrive. If you take a merchant’s cart, you can reach it in two or three days.”
“It’s getting late now. If you don’t mind, you can stay in the village for the night.”
Upon hearing this, Michelle looked at the sky; the sun was about to set, and even if they insisted on traveling now, they wouldn’t get far.
She hadn’t slept in a comfortable bed for a long time, even though the rooms in the village might not be comfortable.
She looked at Leo, seeking his opinion.
“Then let’s stay for a night.”
Leo looked at the village chief, “Do you have any spare rooms? If not, just arrange for us to stay in one room.”
Michelle was momentarily stunned, blinking her big eyes in surprise.
Then she discreetly placed her hand on Leo’s waist.
Hiss!
“Don’t mess around, Saintess. Didn’t you notice that the villagers are looking at us strangely? This village might have secrets; it’s best if we don’t separate.”
Leo conveyed this to her with a serious expression.
Although Michelle felt something was off, she thought it shouldn’t be a problem; perhaps they just didn’t welcome strangers into the village.
“Right, I’m sorry.”
She lowered her head and softly communicated with him.
“What? I can’t hear you.”
Leo pretended to be angry, not taking her words seriously.
“Alright, tonight I’ll make it up to you.” Michelle’s face turned slightly red.
The saintess’s compensation?
Leo felt a bit excited at her words.
I can’t wait!
