Chapter 194: The Hero and the Sword Saint
Outside the city, Selena looked at the enormous pit with a radius of ten kilometers that had appeared before her, slightly frowning.
“Your Highness, look over there.”
Following the guidance of the Holy Knights, Selena turned her gaze and immediately discovered the shattered corpse of Beruhak on the ground.
She rushed over to examine it, and just from the wounds, she could tell the extent of the attack he had suffered.
“Could it have been Leo?”
She felt some doubt, thinking it was impossible; if he could defeat an SSS-class demon king without external help, such strength would be comparable to that of the Sword Saint Rao, making him one of the top powerhouses in the empire.
How old was Leo now? It was almost impossible; she guessed it must have been his yet-to-be-born master who had appeared.
Thinking of this, Selena felt a hint of regret; if only Leo’s master could have appeared before Emperor Samuel’s death, the situation wouldn’t have become so complicated.
Selena returned to the church headquarters when suddenly a golden beam shot up into the sky, emanating a peaceful aura.
“What’s going on? That’s where the church stores the holy sword; we need to check it out.”
Just as one crisis was being resolved, another arose; they could not allow anything to happen to the holy sword, as it was the only weapon humanity had to fight against the demon king.
Selena immediately arranged for people to go over, and after a while, a priest whispered in her ear.
Selena went to the room where Dante was resting and found Locke, saying, “Come with me.”
She glanced at the knights, “You can come along too.”
The members of the knight order exchanged glances and decided to let only half of them follow Selena.
They were led to a room where a golden sword emitted a warm light like the sun, illuminating the small space; in front of the holy sword, darkness had nowhere to hide.
“The holy sword has been activated; could it be that the hero has appeared?” The knights looked on in astonishment.
As soon as the words were spoken, the golden light on the sword intensified, and a stream of golden energy shot from the blade towards the crowd. Everyone turned around and saw Locke enveloped in golden light.
At the same time, the sky was filled with radiant colors, and a golden beam pierced through the eaves, landing on Locke, transforming him into a shining golden figure.
Everyone’s expressions were filled with surprise as they watched; after the death of Emperor Samuel, a new hope had emerged.
Heroes had passed away, and a hero was born, allowing hope to continue.
Tears streamed down the faces of the knight order members, “Oh Emperor, the hero you awaited has finally appeared, but you fell just before the hero’s arrival.”
…
Rao pushed back the demon king in front of him with a sword, realizing he could no longer kill Yuris, the demon king immediately fled into the distance.
The Sword Saint did not pursue but stepped forward to check Yuris’s injuries, thankfully they were not fatal.
Suddenly, a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes, “You awakened?”
“Yes, it is the Sword Saint.”
Yuris spoke in a low tone, not as happy as one might imagine; his fists were tightly clenched, a strong sense of unwillingness gathering in his heart.
In his view, he felt that he was unworthy of the title of Sword Saint; if he was a Sword Saint, then what about Leo, who was even stronger than him? As long as he had not surpassed Leo, he felt he did not deserve the title of Sword Saint.
Rao grasped his shoulders, carefully examining his condition, and immediately frowned.
“Impossible! Why is it like this?”
As soon as he spoke, he realized his words were somewhat abrupt, so he added, “Forget it, congratulations.”
There was no hint of congratulations in Rao’s eyes; he remained as indifferent as ever.
Yuris felt a slight heaviness in his heart; his unhappiness was due to Leo, so why did Rao have such an expression? Was his becoming a Sword Saint such a surprise to him?
In his memory, Rao had always been so serious, and his teachings had been very strict.
Yuris himself had worked very hard, dedicating everything to the sword, striving not to disappoint Rao’s expectations; every time he achieved something, he would report to Rao, yet Rao had never praised him, only giving him a faint glance that felt both strange and cold.
When Yuris was young, he longed to be Rao’s pride, fantasizing about one day inheriting the title of Sword Saint, thinking that perhaps this would change Rao’s attitude towards him.
However, the result was always the same, and it even surprised Yuris; in his master’s heart, was he really so insignificant? Was there really someone more suited to be the Sword Saint than him and Leo? Without much disappointment, Yuris even felt a bit curious.
Now, he was no longer as naive as before; he no longer needed to work hard for Rao, he only needed to dedicate everything to the sword, as the only thing that could accompany him was the sword itself.
…
In the Demon King’s castle, Garfield paced back and forth, anxiously walking around the audience hall.
A disheveled figure entered the hall, bowing his head and kneeling on one knee, “Your Majesty, I have failed.”
“Only you? What about Beruhak?” the Demon King said in a deep voice.
“He is already dead.”
“Useless! You are all useless; you can’t even deal with a few humans who haven’t even grown yet. What use do I have for you?”
The Demon King was furious, and the four heavenly kings did not dare to breathe.
After a long time, once the Demon King had vented his anger, he waved his hand, “You may leave.”
The four heavenly kings hurriedly left, but before they had gone far, a violent force erupted from the hall, shaking the entire Demon King’s castle; he felt panic in his heart and immediately quickened his pace to leave.
“Why?” The Demon King’s eyes revealed bloodshot veins, filled with confusion, “Why, with me as the Demon King, is there still that legendary profession? Why?”
“I am the embodiment of destruction and evil, the destroyer of the world’s principles; I am the strongest profession, the ruler of the world, and even the gods cannot stop me! I will never allow anyone to have a profession that rivals mine.”
“After I take control of the world, one day, I will slay the gods; this feat can only be accomplished by me, the Demon King, and no one else can!”
The Demon King’s eyes were filled with intense anger; it was all that old man’s fault for causing him to die once. Otherwise, he would have already grown strong enough to control the world and would not have allowed such an accident to happen; any power that threatened him would have been crushed in advance.
“Right! War, I need war! Only in war can I grow quickly; I want to grow faster than anyone else, and no one can stop me.”
The Demon King calmed down and shouted, “Come back!”
The departing four heavenly kings returned, kneeling before the Demon King once more, their bodies trembling.
“War, give me an unprecedented and sensational war; I want to engulf the entire continent in flames of war. Any creature I encounter, whether human or beast, must be killed! Kill! Kill! Kill! Kill!”
Each “kill” burst forth from the Demon King’s teeth, the chilling killing intent filling the room, as if the space had frozen.
The four heavenly kings trembled as they spoke, “But, there is only one heavenly king left; I cannot command all the armies.”
“It doesn’t matter; you select some potential demons, and I will grant them power.”
“Yes!”
