Bound to the Monster Chapter 27

Chapter 27 : Come for You

The warm embrace pulled Ji Yu out of the terrifying and gloomy nightmare.

It felt as though she had returned to the warm and peaceful human world.

Her long, dense eyelashes trembled slightly, and Ji Yu finally saw the person who had pulled her out of the blood-red nightmare. In the dim, hazy light, with his red lips and dark hair, he looked extraordinarily enchanting.

His eyes had a strange, crimson pattern at the corners, spreading across his jade-white skin, exuding a menacing and unpredictable aura.

Ji Yu reached out and clung tightly to him.

Her body was still trembling slightly, as if she were grasping a lifeline. Jiang Shiqiu paused for a moment and then tightened his hold on her.

Although there was some pain, it was nothing compared to the suffering in the dream, which had nearly severed her sense of life. This pain made her feel more alive.

She had always known that she would die sooner or later.

Either from the outbreak of the corpse poison or from the curse of the Ji family.

One day, the demon that had placed the curse on her family would come to claim her life. That was her fate.

However, as she narrowly escaped death, she discovered that she still yearned to live.

She wanted to continue accompanying her grandmother, to see more of the world, to fulfill her unaccomplished wishes, and to… be with him.

“Jiang Shiqiu…” she sighed his name.

Jiang Shiqiu lowered his head and kissed her hair. His eyes closed slightly, hiding the twisted demon-like affection within, while his voice was exceedingly gentle.

“Wife, I’m here. I’m late, but I’m back.”

Ji Yu just shook her head, showing no signs of blaming him, and then asked, “Did you kill it?”

“No.” Jiang Shiqiu’s tone was cold, “It escaped too quickly. I only severely injured it. It won’t dare to come back for a while. You can sleep peacefully now.”

He snorted coldly, his demonic face showing fierce anger.

Just a mere corpse demon dared to covet his wife. If it hadn’t escaped so fast, he would have crushed it.

Hearing this, Ji Yu was finally sure that the hand which had crushed the blood-red eye in her dream was his.

Or rather, she had escaped the dream last night because he had returned and awakened her from it.

It seemed that even the demon in her dreams feared him. With him around, it didn’t dare to invade her dreams so easily.

Seeing her emotions stabilize and her body stop trembling, Jiang Shiqiu finally felt relieved.

Noticing that her clothes were soaked with cold sweat, he took clean clothes and changed her into them. Seeing her pale face with a hint of red and her discomfort, he felt more at ease.

“Wife, you’re too weak right now. It’s my duty to take care of you.” He spoke with a tender and considerate demeanor, though his gaze was still intensely heated.

The red patterns on his face had mostly faded, but a few residual lines remained, revealing his demonic side.

Ji Yu tried to appear composed and gently responded with an “Mm.”

Her body was still very weak. The ordeal she had gone through, even though it was in a dream, had a significant impact on her physical state.

Jiang Shiqiu poured a glass of water, took out the pills prepared by the Ji family, and carefully fed them to her.

She looked so fragile that he was almost afraid to use any force, fearing that he might inadvertently hurt her.

Ji Yu lay back on the bed, watching him busy himself with a smile.

It was late at night, and the sound of the waves outside the window added a rare touch of tenderness to the tranquil darkness.

Perhaps it wasn’t the waves that had become gentle, but the presence of a “person” beside her.

“Jiang Shiqiu,” she suddenly spoke up. When he looked over, she smiled and said, “Thank you. You saved me again.”

At the Yanyue Villa, he had saved many people, including her.

No matter why he came, it was undeniable that Jiang Shiqiu had saved her.

Jiang Shiqiu said, “You are my wife. It’s only right that I help you.”

Ji Yu smiled and asked him seriously, “Jiang Shiqiu, you know about the curse on me, right?”

Jiang Shiqiu, holding the water cup, paused for a moment before nodding. “Yes, I know.”

“Did you come here because of that?” Ji Yu asked again.

Jiang Shiqiu shook his head. He sat by the bed, bathed in the dim light, his face still marked by the crimson, eerie patterns, looking both demonic and magical.

He said, “I came for you!”

Ji Yu stared at him, a complex, indescribable emotion rising in her chest.

She wanted to ask why but had a vague sense that she didn’t need to.

Jiang Shiqiu took her hand, which had been resting on the bed, into his own, and with a devilish smile at the corner of his lips, said, “Wife, don’t be afraid. I’m here.”

He sighed inwardly. People were so fragile, he wondered if he should kill her and take her soul to the underworld, so he wouldn’t have to worry about her getting hurt again.

Ji Yu opened her mouth to say she wasn’t afraid but stopped when she saw his otherworldly face.

Then Jiang Shiqiu changed the damp bedding and lay down with her.

“Wife, does it still hurt?” he gently stroked her still-cool face, asking with concern.

It was late spring, and the weather had already warmed up. Most people had switched to light summer clothing, but she was still sensitive to the cold, her body feeling like ice at night.

Ji Yu’s voice was faint. “I’m much better.”

In truth, she wasn’t lying. After escaping the dream, she felt much better.

The room fell silent. Jiang Shiqiu said nothing, holding her in his arms as if in quiet contemplation.

Ji Yu’s body was still exhausted, and her consciousness began to drift. She heard him say, “Wife, would you like to go… to the city?”

What city?

She tried to listen closely, but her awareness sank, making it impossible to hear clearly.

Her consciousness became hazy again.

Ji Yu felt herself being led forward, stumbling and unclear about her destination.

Distant, ethereal voices came, like a chant or lament. Ghostly figures holding lanterns silently led the way.

“Wife…”

She looked up, dazed, at the man leading her. He wore a long red robe adorned with black patterns, both eerie and solemn.

He seemed to smile, holding her hand and pulling her into his embrace.

Along the way, many powerful and fearsome evil beings paid their respects to them.

Many voices echoed in her ears but were oddly unclear.

Ji Yu leaned against him, murmuring, “Husband…”

This was her husband, the one she had married. She instinctively trusted him, seeing only him in her eyes.

Ahead was an ancient, towering city standing in the endless darkness. It loomed between heaven and earth, like an ancient beast from the abyss, its evil, cold aura palpable.

Ji Yu’s steps faltered.

“Wife,” the man holding her said, pressing a kiss to her warm lips. “Don’t be afraid.”

She turned to look at him, her eyes vacant.

A grand and luxurious palanquin descended from the sky and landed before them.

The man embraced her waist, and together they soared into the palanquin. With the sound of bells, the palanquin flew towards the ancient city, entering its depths…

The next morning, Ji Yu woke up feeling an unprecedented sense of relief.

This sensation was very strange. According to past experiences, after such events as last night’s, she would usually be bedridden for ten days or more.

Yet now, she didn’t feel that weakness. It was as if she had taken some powerful tonic that replenished her body’s deficiencies.

Ji Yu silently assessed her physical condition and glanced at the man beside her, who was dressing.

“Wife, what’s wrong?” Jiang Shiqiu noticed her gaze and came over to lift her, who was sitting on the bed, into his arms. “Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?”

Ji Yu was wearing a large nightgown, her hair loose, looking delicate and frail.

Being held by him made her appear even more fragile, like a delicate porcelain doll.

Jiang Shiqiu grew even more careful and gentle, thinking to himself that his wife was so delicate that he needed to be cautious, unlike last night when he had been overly excited and didn’t control his strength well, causing her to cry out.

Although she looked lovely when she cried, which made him restless and excited all night.

Being lifted off the ground brought a natural sense of unease. Ji Yu instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck.

“I’m fine, much better,” she turned her head to look at him. “It’s just that it feels too good… Did you do something?”

She vaguely remembered him saying something about taking her somewhere, with her soul leaving her body, but her memory was obscured by a veil of fog, and she couldn’t recall more.

Jiang Shiqiu cleared his throat and avoided her gaze, saying vaguely, “Last night, you were really uncomfortable. I was very worried, so I took you to the underworld… I didn’t do much, just… had some intimate moments with you…”

Ji Yu: “…” Was she supposed to be harvesting yang to replenish yin?

No, he was an evil entity, and evil beings are inherently yin, there was no yang to harvest.

Seeing her expressionless look, Jiang Shiqiu felt even more uneasy. His eyes were fixed on the direction of the window, staring out at the sea.

“Intimate moments?” Ji Yu’s voice was very soft. “What kind of intimate moments?”

Jiang Shiqiu: “… Wife, you know.”

“I don’t know.”

Jiang Shiqiu placed her back on the bed and then squatted in front of her, slightly lower than her sitting position.

This posture made him appear somewhat vulnerable and pitiable, making it hard to look at him without feeling a sense of sympathy.

If Ji Yu hadn’t been aware that he wasn’t human, she might have been deceived by him.

“… Wife, you shouldn’t be like this,” Jiang Shiqiu said seriously. “We’re married, and it’s normal for couples to have intimacy.”

Ji Yu’s face turned bright red instantly. She quickly covered his mouth with her hand.

At first, he blinked and didn’t avoid her touch, staring at her intently.

Feeling the moisture in her palm, Ji Yu immediately withdrew her hand, pulling it behind her, feeling as if she might burst into flames.

He actually kissed her palm!

This person was truly…

Seeing her a bit embarrassed and annoyed, Jiang Shiqiu looked even more pitiable. “Wife, I only wanted to kiss you… Is that not allowed?”

Ji Yu: “Of course it’s allowed…”

He soon started to smile again, looking very innocent.

Great, it seemed that this evil being knew how to put out the fire, and Ji Yu couldn’t stay angry. Instead, she found the situation a bit amusing and helpless.

“I’m not angry,” she made an effort to look calm. “I just wanted to ask about what happened last night…”

Jiang Shiqiu’s eyes lit up. “Wife, do you want to discuss the intimacy we had in the underworld…”

“Besides that!” Ji Yu quickly interrupted him. “What else? Why does my body feel more relaxed today than ever before?”

Hearing this, Jiang Shiqiu felt disappointed. He had wanted to discuss the matter of marital intimacy with his wife.

Her body was too weak, and he dared not do much. The only thing he could do was take some benefits during their visit to the underworld.

Jiang Shiqiu said, “Wife, you were born in the yin year, yin month, yin day, and yin hour, with an excess of yin energy in your body, making it easy to attract evil spirit entities. So, I took you to the underworld last night… and also covered your fate.”

Ji Yu stared at him, thinking she must have heard wrong.

Fate is inherent to a person, and even the current national teacher couldn’t completely obscure it. How was this different from obscuring heavenly secrets?

But he had done it.

Ji Yu thought for a moment and asked, “Will it affect you in any way?”

Jiang Shiqiu was momentarily taken aback, then his face broke into a pleased smile as he held her slightly cool hand. “Of course not!”

“Really?”

Ji Yu observed him closely but found nothing amiss. She said seriously, “Jiang Shiqiu, thank you!”

No wonder he wanted to take her to the underworld last night, it was a place where the living shouldn’t go.

Since childhood, she had easily attracted non-human entities, related to her constitution, which was why her grandmother rarely allowed her to go out for training. Ji Yu knew her own physical condition well and tried not to trouble others, so as not to put those around her at risk while protecting her.

Seeing that she wasn’t angry, Jiang Shiqiu’s mood instantly brightened, and he appeared even more radiant.

“Wife,” he asked with a beaming smile, “Aren’t you angry?”

Ji Yu: “…”

After a moment of silence, she calmly said, “I’m not angry.”

There was really nothing to be angry about. They were married now, and between spouses, there would always be…

Her body was weak, so he didn’t dare overstep, but since they had separated their souls from their bodies, there was no physical constraint, and doing a few things was acceptable. There was no reason to be angry.

Jiang Shiqiu happily lifted her up and spun her around with delight.

Ji Yu, feeling helpless, held onto his shoulders to steady herself, and then was kissed all over by him like a playful puppy.

Jiang Shiqiu had no intention of leaving the house today. After breakfast, he stayed by her side.

Ji Yu asked in confusion, “Aren’t you going out today?”

“Not going,” Jiang Shiqiu snorted. “They’re all a bunch of useless people. If they don’t do well, they can go home and eat themselves. What’s the point of being a demon-slayer?”

Ji Yu wisely said nothing.

It seemed that although Qin Du’s “memories” were altered, his true nature remained unchanged. Sometimes he could be very pushy. Even if he didn’t know Jiang Shiqiu’s true identity, he instinctively pushed the role of “commander” to the extreme.

This was very much in line with how people perceived him.

Ji Buhuan and Hongxiao also noticed that Ji Yu looked much better today. Though her complexion still seemed pale, it lacked the fragility of being on the verge of breaking.

Hongxiao asked happily, “Young Master, are you feeling better?”

Ji Yu smiled and said, “Yes, I think it’s because I’ve rested well these past couple of days.”

Upon hearing this, they didn’t think much of it, assuming that the fatigue from the journey had made her tired earlier, and that the good rest in the guest courtyard had significantly improved her condition.

Both were very pleased.

At that moment, Pei Yang came to visit Ji Yu.

Seeing Jiang Shiqiu sitting with Ji Yu, Pei Yang’s eyes sparkled with surprise. “Cousin, is this your husband?”

The term “cousin’s husband” made Jiang Shiqiu feel quite pleased, and he generously gave the young girl a gift.

Although the gift was just a jade pendant he had casually picked up, it looked quite good. The jade was flawless and oily, making it valuable.

If sold on the market, it would fetch a high price.

However, for a demon-slayer, worldly wealth was not a concern. With capability, making money was easy.

For Jiang Shiqiu, giving a jade pendant seemed somewhat mundane.

Ji Buhuan and Hongxiao also thought it was an ordinary jade pendant, but Ji Yu glanced at Jiang Shiqiu.

Pei Yang happily accepted it and said cheerfully, “Thank you, cousin’s husband!”

Jiang Shiqiu accepted the title “cousin’s husband” with composure and turned to Ji Yu. “Wife, your cousin is quite pleasing.”

Unlike Chen Qingzhe, who made him want to strangle him.

Ji Yu smiled and replied, “Mm.”

Pei Yang came today to invite Ji Yu to go out and have some fun.

Tomorrow is the birthday of Old Master Chen from the Chen family, and they need to attend the celebration at the Chen residence. So they wanted to take advantage of today to go out and explore.

“Cousin, how is your health? Are you up for going out?” Pei Yang asked, and if Ji Yu wasn’t able to, she wouldn’t insist.

Ji Yu smiled and replied, “I’m fine.”

After Pei Yang confirmed that Ji Yu was indeed doing well, she joyfully jumped up.

Ji Yu had someone go to the guest courtyard where the Pei family was staying to inform them, and then she took Pei Yang out.

Jiang Shiqiu accompanied them as well.

Today, he was sticking by his wife’s side. Wherever his wife went, he followed.

Initially, Pei Yang was supposed to ride in the carriage with Ji Yu, but she quickly found it intolerable and chose to ride a horse with Hongxiao instead.

She whispered to Hongxiao, “Cousin and cousin-in-law are so… affectionate, all sticky and sweet. It’s really hard to handle! Are they always like this?”

Hongxiao suppressed a laugh and said with a serious expression, “You’ll get used to it.”

Pei Yang was speechless for a moment, then she too started to smile.

Soon after the carriage left the Chen residence, they entered a bustling street.

In the past half month, Qingyu City had been lively due to Old Master Chen’s birthday. The streets and alleys were crowded, with many places holding temple fairs and food festivals, greatly enriching the lives of the people.

Although Ji Yu was accompanying Pei Yang to explore, she wasn’t fond of crowds. She chose a restaurant to sit and rest while drinking tea, letting Hongxiao accompany Pei Yang to shop and buy whatever she wanted. The costs would be covered by Ji Yu.

Sitting by the window, Ji Yu could see the bustling street outside and the nearby lake with its lush willows.

The sunlight was perfect, and the lake sparkled. Exquisite and luxurious pleasure boats glided across the water.

“Ji Yu, have some chestnuts.”

Jiang Shiqiu placed a small plate of peeled candied chestnuts in front of her, thoughtfully using a silver fork to skewer them. They were ready to eat, one at a time, without the worry of choking.

These chestnuts were bought on the way. He enjoyed buying small snacks for her and found it amusing to watch her eat slowly.

Ji Yu ate the peeled chestnuts while enjoying the breeze from the lake, feeling exceptionally content.

The chestnuts were sweet and delicious.

However, this tranquility was soon interrupted by the sound of horses’ hooves clattering below.

She turned to see a group of riders in crimson attire, riding with great urgency. They moved so fast that, without their excellent equestrian skills, they might have collided with pedestrians.

Seeing the riders, the passersby hurriedly made way without needing any reminders.

The leading riders were indeed from the Demon Division, including Qin Du.

Ji Yu watched as the group rode swiftly towards the city gates, realizing something must have happened, as the Demon-Slaying Division wouldn’t be leaving the city so urgently otherwise.

Once the riders disappeared into the distance, Ji Yu turned back to look at Jiang Shiqiu, who was still peeling chestnuts at a leisurely pace.

His movements were unhurried and pleasant to watch. He was handsome and poised, making even the simplest actions look attractive.

Noticing her gaze, he asked with a smile, “What’s wrong? Did the tea go cold?”

Ji Yu shook her head and said, “I just saw Qin Du and the others leaving the city. Something must have happened.”

Jiang Shiqiu responded indifferently with a casual “Hmm,” and continued peeling his chestnuts.

Seeing this, Ji Yu didn’t press him further about whether he wanted to go check. Although he was now the commander of the Demon Division, he was still an entity of dark nature and couldn’t be expected to do too much.

When Pei Yang and Hongxiao returned, they all had a hearty lunch at the restaurant and then went shopping, buying many local specialties of Qingyu City to bring back as gifts.

By late afternoon, they finally returned with their arms full.

“Cousin, cousin-in-law, I’m leaving now. I’ll see you tomorrow for the birthday celebration.”

Back at the guest courtyard, Pei Yang waved goodbye to them.

The guest courtyard arranged by the Chen family for their visitors was quite large, occupying an entire hill. The guest courtyard where the Pei family’s disciples stayed was located quite far from here.

Ji Yu smiled and replied, “This is someone else’s home, so don’t wander around. Rest well when you get back.”

“Cousin, don’t worry. I’m not a child, I won’t just wander off.”

Pei Yang pouted in protest, but when Ji Yu reached out and patted her head, she quickly brightened up, happily waving goodbye to them.

As dusk fell and the sky darkened, the lanterns along the roadside began to light up.

Pei Yang saw the Chen family’s servants lighting lanterns by the roadside but didn’t pay much attention. She headed towards the guest courtyard where the Pei family’s disciples were staying.

After walking for a while, she scratched her head and realized she might have taken a wrong turn.

Pei Yang looked ahead and saw she was standing on a winding staircase, flanked by blooming flowering trees. At the end of the stairs was the guest courtyard for the Pei family’s disciples.

From her current position, she could see a corner of the eaves ahead, with a lantern hanging under it.

Confirming that she hadn’t made a mistake, she continued up the stairs.

Just as she was about to step down at the top, the jade pendant in her sleeve suddenly glowed.

Pei Yang didn’t notice the anomaly with the pendant. She blinked, realizing that the path she was on was wrong. Puzzled, she looked behind and saw that she had indeed taken a wrong turn, heading towards the cliff behind the guest courtyard, which overlooked the sea and had a steep cliff.

“This is strange. Is this path really so long?”

Pei Yang murmured, not thinking too much of it, and turned back towards the guest courtyard.

This was the Chen family, a family of demonhunter experts. Not only did they have treasures to protect the house, but there were also demon experts everywhere. No demons or dark entities could infiltrate, so there was no need to worry.

After spending the day out, Ji Yu felt a bit tired. After freshening up, she went to bed to rest.

However, lying in bed, she found herself unable to fall asleep immediately.

“Wife, aren’t you tired?” Jiang Shiqiu asked, turning to look at her.

Ji Yu was about to say “I’m fine” but, seeing his intense gaze, the words changed to “I’m just about to sleep.”

He looked somewhat disappointed and moved closer to her.

A gentle kiss fell on her lips, and after a moment of tender kissing, he restrained himself and held her tightly in his arms.

Ji Yu’s face reddened slightly, and she whispered, “Jiang Shiqiu, you’re so warm.”

So warm—he didn’t seem like a dark entity at all, but rather like a vigorous young man…

Jiang Shiqiu mumbled, “Wife, just let me hold you for a while…”

Ji Yu paused, then didn’t refuse. She found a comfortable position in his embrace and quickly fell into a deep sleep.

That night, Ji Yu slept very well and didn’t dream at all.

The next morning, she woke up feeling refreshed, her eyes bright and clear.

It was a good day, the sea was calm and the water was sparkling.

When she opened the window, she could see Qingluan birds continuously flying from the other side of the sea into the Chen family’s courtyard.

Hongxiao was surprised and said, “Could it be that these Qingluan birds know it’s Old Master Chen’s birthday today and have come to wish him well?”

Ji Buhuan agreed, saying that since all things have spirits, it wasn’t strange for the Qingluan birds to make such a gesture.

It was said that the Chen family’s ancestors had made a pact with a Qingluan bird. The bird gave the Chen family feathers as weapons to slay demons, and in return, the Chen family served the bird and received its power.

The Qingluan bird and the Chen family were inseparable.

Ji Yu gazed indifferently at the Qingluan birds flying over the sea, her eyes fixed on the scene for a long time.

Until Jiang Shiqiu came over and closed the window, disapprovingly saying, “Wife, why are you sitting here with the wind so strong?”

Although the weather was warm now, she could still easily catch a cold.

Ji Yu smiled at him and said, “I just wanted to enjoy the breeze to refresh myself.”

Jiang Shiqiu, thinking she might not have slept well last night, asked if she was feeling unwell.

“I’m fine,” Ji Yu said, pulling his hand to stop him from calling a doctor. “I slept very well last night with you here. I just wanted to enjoy the breeze.”

Jiang Shiqiu’s lips curled slightly, but he quickly suppressed his smile upon seeing Hongxiao and Ji Buhuan.

He said formally, “If you like my company, I’ll stay with you from now on.”

Ji Yu smiled and agreed.

Hongxiao and Ji Buhuan exchanged glances, their expressions turning dark.

Their young master was indeed a very good-tempered girl. Seeing Lord Jiang’s opportunistic demeanor, pretending to be so pleased when he was obviously thrilled, only the young master could tolerate such behavior. If it were anyone else, they would have retorted to put him in his place and prevent him from getting too smug.

As it was almost time, Ji Yu and Jiang Shiqiu went to give their best wishes to Old Master Chen.

Before leaving, Ji Yu glanced at the adjacent area, where the Chen family had arranged accommodation for the members of the Demon Division.

It had been quiet there last night, indicating that Qin Du and his team hadn’t returned.

Had they encountered some trouble?

A thoughtful expression crossed Ji Yu’s face. Perhaps the trouble was so significant that even Qin Du couldn’t return in time for Old Master Chen’s birthday celebration.

They arrived at the main hall of the Chen family’s front courtyard, which was already bustling with many people who had come to offer their congratulations. Gifts were being delivered in a continuous stream.

Old Master Chen sat in the highest position, surrounded by numerous Chen family members, all of whom were esteemed disciples of the Chen family, including Chen Qingzhe.

Chen Qingzhe was greatly favored by Old Master Chen and was kept close by his side.

Although Old Master Chen was already seventy, he looked quite youthful due to his profession as a demon slayer. He appeared to be in his early forties, with black hair and a robust build. The only signs of aging were the fine lines around his eyes.

When Ji Yu and Jiang Shiqiu arrived, the lively hall suddenly quieted down.

Countless eyes were focused on the pair walking in together, filled with curiosity and scrutiny, especially on Jiang Shiqiu, the new commander of the Demon Division. Although he had taken the position not long ago, and many rumors surrounded him, few had seen his true appearance.

Jiang Shiqiu remained composed, holding Ji Yu’s hand, and respectfully extended his congratulations to Old Master Chen.

Old Master Chen was delighted and said with a hearty laugh, “It is an honor to have Lord Jiang in attendance. If there are any shortcomings in my hospitality, please forgive me.”

After offering their congratulations, the Chen family head personally guided them to the flower hall for seating.

Many people were already seated here, including disciples from the four major families, the Demon  Divison, and Bixin Pavilion. Further out were demon hunters from other factions.

After the congratulations, the lively banquet began.

From day to evening, the Chen family was bustling with activity.

As night fell, the Chen family prepared a grand performance of a hundred operas and a fireworks display.

The garden in the front courtyard was adorned with lanterns, and fireworks lit up the sky, creating a dazzling spectacle that decorated the night.

Guests streamed out from the house to enjoy the magnificent fireworks with their companions.

Qingluan birds, flying from somewhere, fluttered across the night sky, their green tail feathers streaking through the darkness like fleeting shooting stars, dreamlike and enchanting.

Ji Yu was also pulled outside by Jiang Shiqiu to watch the fireworks.

Such grand fireworks were rare in the human world, and tonight’s Chen family display was elaborate. It was said to be a celebration shared with the common people, with bursts of fireworks rising one after another, capturing the eye.

Standing under the sky filled with fireworks made one feel that time was tranquil and serene.

Suddenly, Ji Yu felt a jolt of panic in her chest and, in a daze, seemed to hear the sound of the sea.

The sound made her instinctively uncomfortable, and she frowned slightly.

Before she could turn to investigate, strong arms enveloped her in a warm embrace and covered her ears.

In the next moment, a deafening roar shook the world.

Countless screams erupted, along with the shrill cries of Qingluan birds. Beneath the bright fireworks, the sea water surged, and towering waves, a hundred feet high, surged towards the Chen family.

The night sky was stained with blood, and a blood moon slowly rose.
