Chapter 36: The Competition
Jiang Mi glanced over at Bai Ruoruo.
She was teary-eyed, trying to put on a strong, hardworking, and professional demeanor as she mounted her horse. However, the black horse was uncooperative, constantly shifting as if reluctant to let Bai Ruoruo ride it.
Suddenly, Bai Ruoruo’s gaze met Jiang Mi’s. She smiled softly, but there was a coldness in her eyes.
Jiang Mi raised an eyebrow and smirked.
At that moment, Gu Chuan reached out to pat the white horse’s head and then reassured Jiang Mi, “Don’t worry.”
“With you here, what do I have to worry about?” Jiang Mi responded lightly as she swiftly mounted the horse, then turned back to look at him.
The warm golden sunlight evenly bathed her, casting a soft glow over her entire figure. Her beautiful, rosy cheeks were slightly blurred by the light, making her even more alluring.
Gu Chuan’s gaze darkened, and with a strong, agile motion, he propped his muscular arm on the horse’s back and jumped up, pulling Jiang Mi into his embrace.
Jiang Mi said nothing, simply enjoying this brief moment of warmth.
But soon, the warmth gave way to intense competition.
The horse-riding competition began.
To make the competition more interesting, there were three rounds of teamwork challenges and two obstacle courses.
The four pairs of contestants took their positions at the starting line.
The director raised a small loudspeaker. “Ready!”
Everyone tightened their reins, preparing themselves.
“First, we’ll hand out the question boards!”
Cheng Lin, in his excitement, tugged on the reins, and his red horse carried him and Chen Wanruo forward in a wide circle before returning, leaving him exasperated. “Director, you did that on purpose!”
The director smiled. “This is a dating show, not a competitive sport. We’re just lightening the mood.”
Cheng Lin glanced at the other three pairs, who hadn’t moved from the starting line, and sighed, realizing he had made a fool of himself.
The director’s tactics were too deep—he wanted to go back to the castle!
[Haha, the director did that on purpose! After all that hype, and now they have to answer questions first.]
[Only our adorable husky CEO fell for it; the others didn’t move an inch.]
“Everyone, write the correct answer on your boards. Those who answer correctly can start. The first question is: What is your partner’s favorite fruit?” The director added, “Don’t even think about asking now; we’re watching you.”
Jiang Mi raised her hand and asked, “But director, only we ourselves know the correct answer.”
She could write down anything, and as long as Gu Chuan said he liked it, that would be the correct answer.
This question wasn’t very challenging.
Her comment made everyone look at her with a bit of confusion.
Jiang Mi also found it strange. Was there something wrong with her logic?
At that moment, the director cheerfully announced, “On the first night of filming, we conducted initial impression interviews, where we asked some personal questions.”
Jiang Mi was momentarily stunned, vaguely recalling that.
However, she had been distracted by some issues at the time, and the interview had been quite casual. Now that she thought about it, there were many annoying questions, like ideal type, and the male contestant she found most appealing…
Jiang Mi bit her lip, her expression slightly guilty.
[Wow, I can already smell the tension.]
[According to the usual dating show script, those initial interviews will probably be aired later in the show.]
[By then, the couples will be more stable and lovey-dovey. Suddenly, the initial impressions pop up, like asking about an ex in the middle of an intimate moment.]
[That example is too extreme—it’s a total mood killer.]
