Chapter 59
Tonight was about an hour later than the previous night.
Around three o’clock in Lake City, Zhou Jingyu received a call from Wen Tang saying she was almost at the hotel.
Zhou Jingyu went to the door to wait. Soon, a car pulled up and stopped in front of him. The door opened, and Wen Tang jumped out and directly into Zhou Jingyu’s arms.
Wen Tang smiled happily, “How long have you been waiting for me?”
Zhou Jingyu replied, “Just a little while after I got the call.”
As the car disappeared into the night, Zhou Jingyu held Wen Tang’s hand and led her into the hotel. Before entering, Zhou Jingyu placed a large-brimmed sun hat on Wen Tang’s head.
Once it was on, he carefully adjusted the brim lower.
Wen Tang was surprised he had prepared such a thing for her.
“What’s this for?” she didn’t try to take it off but was puzzled. “I can see the road clearly with the hat on, but I can’t see you. Why are you suddenly making me wear this?”
Zhou Jingyu guided her inside and said calmly, “With this hat on, even if someone sees us together, they won’t recognize you.”
Wen Tang responded with an “Oh” and, feeling a faint sense of unease at Zhou Jingyu’s words, she instinctively pulled the brim of the hat lower.
Zhou Jingyu glanced at her, and seeing her obedient appearance, a smile unconsciously appeared in his eyes, and his lips curved upward.
By three in the morning, even the hotel reception was starting to doze off.
With Zhou Jingyu leading the way, it didn’t take long for them to reach Zhou Jingyu’s suite. The lights were still on when they entered.
His suite was a luxurious one, large and spacious. At first, Wen Tang didn’t notice the person lying on the sofa. It wasn’t until she casually glanced in that direction upon entering that she was startled!
She tugged on Zhou Jingyu’s arm and, trying not to disturb the sleeping person, whispered, “Zhou Jingyu, who is that? Why are they lying here?”
She tilted her head up, intending to see Zhou Jingyu, but had forgotten to remove her hat, so she saw nothing.
At this point, Zhou Jingyu reached out, removed her hat, and then took off her mask.
The person lying on the sofa was, of course, Lu Yi, who had vowed to wait for Wen Tang to arrive.
However, he had overestimated himself.
After a morning of exercise and an afternoon of sightseeing, his energy was not endless. Young Master Lu had fallen asleep before midnight.
When Wen Tang arrived, he was already fast asleep.
Zhou Jingyu didn’t even look at Lu Yi, not even mentioning his name.
“Don’t worry about him.”
He said, pulling Wen Tang into the room.
Once inside, the longing of the day turned into a fierce force that overwhelmed Wen Tang.
In her dazed state, Wen Tang remembered there was a stranger in the living room and managed to regain a shred of rationality.
This wasn’t right; she felt a bit uneasy.
“Wait… wait a minute.”
She tried to resist with all her strength.
But her effort felt like nothing more than a child’s gentle tug to Zhou Jingyu.
Zhou Jingyu remained unmoved, as if he understood why Wen Tang was resisting. He buried his head in Wen Tang’s neck, kissing her continuously until Wen Tang was lost in the moment, barely understanding what time it was. Only then did Zhou Jingyu, in a hoarse voice, say, “He’s asleep. He can’t hear anything.”
In reality, the hotel was a high-end establishment with excellent soundproofing, but Wen Tang was just feeling self-conscious.
Then, Wen Tang could no longer control herself and drifted into a dreamlike state, unable to come down.
After hours of passion until four or five in the morning, she couldn’t get up the next day.
Zhou Jingyu, however, was different from Wen Tang. Before she arrived, he had taken a nap, and by eight in the morning, he was already awake.
As he came out of the bedroom and was pouring himself a glass of water, he heard a loud “thud” as Lu Yi fell from the sofa.
Accompanied by Lu Yi’s pained cry.
“Ouch!!”
Lu Yi, lying awkwardly on the floor, opened his eyes to see the outside already bright.
Lu Yi: “…!”
What did he miss???
He had come specifically to wait for Zhou Jingyu’s girlfriend, but how had he ended up falling asleep while waiting?
With a hand on his sore backside, he struggled to stand up. As he turned his head accidentally, he saw Zhou Jingyu standing not far away by the fridge, watching him.
Zhou Jingyu’s unmoved stance seemed to be enjoying his predicament.
……
Lu Yi was severely embarrassed.
After a while, he finally found his voice: “When did you come out? You’re really scary sneaking around like that, you know?”
The repeated “you” revealed his inner panic.
But embarrassment was not an option.
He had faced plenty of awkward situations in front of his friends. In the next moment, Lu Yi threw himself back onto the sofa.
He crossed his arms and propped his legs up, then asked Zhou Jingyu with a hint of defiance, “Where’s your girlfriend? Did she come last night?”
Even though he was sitting, his posture was defiant.
Zhou Jingyu looked at him and chuckled.
“She’s here, in the room,” he replied calmly.
Lu Yi immediately stood up from the sofa, excited.
Zhou Jingyu watched him and suddenly asked, “Do you want to go in and see her?”
The calm voice, however, carried an inexplicable danger.
Lu Yi felt like he had been doused with a bucket of ice water, and he instantly felt chilled.
…He wasn’t out of his mind.
How could he dare?
……
Lu Yi quickly shook his hands, “No, no, never mind!… Haha!”
Since the person was still here and wasn’t going anywhere, he didn’t mind waiting a bit longer.
Lu Yi was not at all embarrassed about possibly disturbing Zhou Jingyu’s girlfriend.
Zhou Jingyu chuckled again.
Though he said nothing more, Lu Yi felt that Zhou Jingyu was somewhat satisfied with his response. Relieved from the sense of danger, Lu Yi sighed in relief.
It wasn’t just talk. Zhou Jingyu was someone who seemed indifferent most of the time, but if he seriously got involved, you wouldn’t even know how you’d end up. It was quite terrifying!
Lu Yi knew how to keep things in check. Though he sometimes loved to provoke, he was smart enough to know when to stop, never crossing Zhou Jingyu’s boundaries or truly pushing his limits.
Otherwise, their friendship might be over.
In Lu Yi’s view, Zhou Jingyu was never a kind person; he was a cold-blooded creature in disguise, emotionless. A truly ruthless guy!
The two of them were talking in the living room.
No one noticed as the bedroom door was quietly opened.
The noise in the living room was too loud for Wen Tang to ignore.
She was sound asleep but was jolted awake by the commotion.
Even though she had just woken up, she still wanted to sleep more. However, thinking about the person who had been sleeping on the sofa last night, Wen Tang figured that since Zhou Jingyu had allowed him to sleep on the sofa in the middle of the night, their relationship must be quite significant.
In the room, she could vaguely hear the voices of the people outside.
After tossing and turning in bed a couple of times, Wen Tang decided to get up.
Zhou Jingyu only had today left in Lake City, and she felt it would be a waste to sleep through the whole day.
Thinking of Zhou Jingyu having friends over, Wen Tang put on her clothes properly before leaving the bedroom.
She deliberately lowered her voice when opening the door, so the two people in the living room did not hear her until she walked out.
Zhou Jingyu, more focused on the direction of the bedroom, was the first to see her.
“Why are you awake?” He walked over to her and stood in front of her. “Why not sleep a bit more?”
He kissed Wen Tang’s forehead in a casual manner.
Wen Tang, not as bold as him, was mindful of the other person in the room. As Zhou Jingyu kissed her forehead, she instinctively shrank back.
Noticing Wen Tang’s reaction, Zhou Jingyu stopped trying to kiss her and turned his head.
He frowned slightly, with a hint of disdain in his voice, and began to usher his guest out. “You’ve seen her now, why are you still here?”
He addressed Lu Yi.
Lu Yi, at this point, was stunned.
He couldn’t understand how Wen Tang had suddenly appeared in Zhou Jingyu’s living room!
Seeing Zhou Jingyu move in to kiss Wen Tang, Lu Yi’s mouth hung open in shock.
Zhou Jingyu’s gaze grew sharper as he stared at him, and it took Lu Yi a moment to react.
“Oh… oh!”
“I’m leaving, I’m leaving right now!!”
Still in shock, Lu Yi stumbled over the coffee table, nearly falling flat on his face but managed to catch himself with his hands.
He struggled to his feet and awkwardly made his way to the door.
Only after Lu Yi had left did Wen Tang turn her gaze back to Zhou Jingyu.
Her eyes were filled with confusion.
Pointing in the direction Lu Yi had gone, Wen Tang asked, “Is he… okay?”
Why does he seem so clueless?
Zhou Jingyu replied with his usual detached tone, “Don’t worry about him.”
Then he pulled Wen Tang into an embrace and gave her a good morning kiss.
This time, the kiss was not on her forehead but on her lips.
…..
After Lu Yi left and the door closed, he stood there for a few seconds before reacting.
Damn!
Why did he obey so readily?
Zhou Jingyu told him to leave, and he just left. He only got a glimpse of Zhou Jingyu’s girlfriend! His view was completely blocked by Zhou Jingyu!
But… no matter how hard he thought, he never expected Zhou Jingyu’s girlfriend to be Wen Tang!
No wonder Zhou Jingyu was so secretive about it!
How did these two even know each other? Zhou Jingyu couldn’t imagine how two people who seemed galaxies apart suddenly became a couple?
And it’s Wen Tang!
He had previously told Zhou Jingyu that Wen Tang was impressive and he was afraid to pursue her because she was too much for him to handle!
What was Zhou Jingyu’s reaction at the time?
Lu Yi tried to recall, but couldn’t remember. It had been over six months, after all.
But, did Zhou Jingyu already know Wen Tang back then?
Zhou Jingyu announced he had a girlfriend almost five months ago. They couldn’t have started dating immediately; not even rockets move that fast!
This means they must have known each other back then!
Lu Yi couldn’t help but break out in a cold sweat, recalling his risky behavior back then.
Memories flooded back, connecting many things at once.
Including the time Wen Tang was in trouble, and Zhou Jingyu intervened, gathering evidence to clear her name and even posting it online.
At the time, he thought Zhou Jingyu was just a fan of Wen Tang. But no, it turned out he wasn’t just a fan—he had become her boyfriend!
Lu Yi deeply sighed.
Zhou Jingyu had really kept it well hidden!
Lu Yi didn’t think of himself as slow-witted; anyone would be clueless about this.
Once he accepted the reality, new concerns arose.
Wen Tang was a major star in the entertainment industry, and her personal life had been messy, with boyfriends coming and going and a poor reputation.
Lu Yi had just been badly hurt by another major star in the industry.
He furrowed his brows deeply.
Is there really no problem with Zhou Jingyu dating Wen Tang?
He was genuinely frightened by Jiang Qianya.
He was afraid Zhou Jingyu might end up in the same unfortunate situation as him.
That would be truly disastrous! Lu Yi had experienced it and hadn’t fully recovered! He felt like he had lost the ability to love and only wanted to wander through the flower beds, becoming a heartless playboy. During the worst times, he even wanted to take revenge on society and all of humanity!
Wen Tang, no matter how you looked at her, seemed unreliable. There was no record of her being in a relationship for more than six months. The entertainment industry is full of temptations, and everyone knows Wen Tang’s background. Like Jiang Qianya, she had no powerful connections, but she had risen to a higher position.
Could she really be clean?
It’s impossible!
There are no good women in the entertainment industry!
