Chapter 115: So wild! So exciting!
“Old Wen, you’re too upright! Couldn’t you have asked the Seventh Prince to leave us some savings? You might not need it, but our son and mother still do. You’re so generous, donating everything—how are we supposed to live now?”
“Shut up! That money was never ours, to begin with. It belongs to the Heavenly Sacred Dynasty, and you have the nerve to complain.
Do you want the money, or do you want to keep your life? Make your choice,” Old Wen snapped.
He cursed himself for indulging Madam Xu too much over the years.
Madam Xu, now utterly terrified, dared not say another word, and just kept crying.
Her crying was driving Minister Wen mad.
He had the sinking feeling that something even worse was about to happen.
Minister Wen wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.
Surely the Seventh Di Ziand the Tenth Princess would leave now.
“Sigh,” Ah Bao suddenly sighed at Minister Wen.
Minister Wen: “…”
He was filled with dread.
Ah Bao waddled over to Madam Xu, her little legs carrying her swiftly, and said, “Hey.”
Ah Bao spoke, holding up a pair of red triangle briefs.
Di Zian: ?
His eyes widened instantly.
What on earth is that?
He quickly rushed over to Ah Bao, covering her eyes.
“Oh my goodness, don’t look, don’t look, it’s eye-burning.”
Is this something his little sister should be seeing?
The already distressed Minister Wen looked like his eyes were about to pop out.
Madam Xu’s sobbing stopped abruptly when she saw the red briefs waving in front of her eyes.
She let out a scream, “Ah!”
Forget crying.
Madam Xu snatched the red briefs away.
Ah Bao pushed Di Zian’s hand away, turned around, and pulled out a small floral-patterned eye mask from a little box behind her…
“Princess, Tenth Princess, please stop! My goodness!” Madam Xu watched Ah Bao’s actions in panic.
She was shaking uncontrollably.
The little black dog sat by the box, looking like a vigilant guard.
Ah Bao kept pulling things out one after another, and in no time, the floor was covered…
The maids and older servants were all stunned.
They couldn’t bear to look.
“Giggling,” Ah Bao laughed like a little wild cat and plopped down on the ground, starting to examine the small floral-patterned eye mask.
【Wow, Minister Wen and Madam Xu sure have some wild ideas! At their age, they’re even using eye masks.】
【How daring! Exciting!】
Di Zian: “…”
Is this something his little sister should understand?
“Minister Wen, Minister Wen, what have you gotten yourself into…” Di Zian shook his head in exasperation.
Minister Wen was horrified, his face turning even paler than when he discovered his wife’s embezzlement.
“No, no, no, Your Highness, Your Highness, please don’t misunderstand. This wasn’t my idea at all,” he stammered.
What was all this?
Why had he never seen any of it before?
“Madam, what is all this nonsense? Why were you hiding these things?”
“I…” Madam Xu bit her lip, “I wanted to give you another child.”
Minister Wen felt faint, almost collapsing from rage!
Madam Xu, suddenly feeling shy at the mention of such matters, blushed and transformed from her usual domineering self into a demure woman, softly saying, “Old Wen, I wanted to give the Wen family another heir. I’ve already prepared the medicine and gathered everything we need; I was just waiting for you tonight…”
She paused, then continued, “I’ve been planning this for a long time, preparing all these things as a surprise for you.”
“Well, it was certainly surprising, but not in a good way.”
He was almost sixty years old!
What was the point of having another child now?
Ah Bao blinked her large eyes, swaying the little pigtails on her head as she stood between Minister Wen and Madam Xu.
The little girl put her hands on her hips, her brows furrowing tightly into a ‘川’ shape, “No, no baby.”
【There’s no way Madam Xu is having another child!】
【She’s lucky if she even survives; how could she have another child?】
“What do you mean by that, Princess?” Madam Xu was infuriated. This little troublemaker of a princess never knew how to say something pleasant.
What did she mean by saying there would be no baby?
Ah Bao made a throat-slitting gesture, sticking out her tongue and rolling her eyes, mimicking someone being executed.
Madam Xu frowned deeply.
Minister Wen, however, was terrified.
“Princess, is someone in the Wen family going to be executed?”
Ah Bao nodded her little head.
【Minister Wen is quite sharp!】
Minister Wen, with a trembling smile, asked, “Princess, who in our family is going to die?”
Could it be Yuan’er?
He sighed.
Truthfully, he had been mentally prepared for this outcome for a long time.
After all, his son was involved in the imperial examination fraud case.
But did the princess know about this?
Ah Bao pointed with her tiny hand, “No… her.”
Minister Wen: ?
The princess pointed at herself, then at Madam Xu.
“This…? But regarding Madam’s embezzlement, His Highness the Seventh Prince has already provided a way out, so how could she still face death?”
Ah Bao raised her little eyebrows.
【Lying will lead to having your tongue pulled out in the afterlife.】
【Madam Xu is really bringing ruin upon the Wen family.】
Di Zian listened, feeling increasingly anxious.
“Madam, is there anything else you’re hiding from me? You better come clean quickly, or even the Seventh Di Ziand the Princess won’t be able to save you.” Minister Wen glared at Madam Xu.
Madam Xu, her eyes red from crying, said, “It’s just about having a child. You already know about these two things; what else could I possibly be hiding from you?”
She was utterly confused.
What kind of being was this Tenth Princess? How could she know so much about her private affairs?
Ah Bao toddled over to Madam Xu and patted her belly with her tiny hand, “Baby… baby.”
Minister Wen was dumbfounded, “Madam, you haven’t been unfaithful, have you?”
Madam Xu nearly jumped up, “I have not! Tenth Princess, don’t speak nonsense. What baby are you talking about? If you keep spouting such nonsense, I’ll throw you out!”
She was so furious that she momentarily forgot about Ah Bao’s status.
“How dare you!” Di Zian roared.
Only then did Madam Xu remember the outrageous words she had just uttered.
Ah Bao wasn’t afraid in the slightest.
She tugged on Minister Wen’s robe, “Three… three…”
Minister Wen was utterly confused, “Baby three? Three babies? Princess, you’re driving me crazy! I really don’t understand what you’re saying.”
Di Zian pondered for a moment. Could it be that his little sister was talking about—
“Third Brother?”
Ah Bao gave Di Zian a thumbs up.
【Yes, yes, yes, it’s about the Third Prince. Madam Xu swapped out the real prince, causing her own downfall and implicating the entire Wen family. Minister Wen was executed in the street because of it.】
Madam Xu was so frightened that she collapsed to the ground upon hearing the words “Third Brother.”
Ah Bao puffed out her chubby cheeks, “Hua… third baby, Hua baby.”
This is driving me crazy!
【Someone, please tell Minister Wen about Madam Xu’s secret plot with Concubine Hui to switch the Third Prince.】
【Swapping a royal child is a crime punishable by death.】
【Madam Xu still wants to have a child? It’s impossible!】
【She’s cursed; after switching another’s child, she’s lost all chance of conceiving again. No matter how many gods she prays to, it won’t work.】
【The Wen family will be destroyed because of her, and she will bring about the end of the family line.】
Di Zian finally understood.
His sister was revealing the true identity of the Third Prince.
So…
Madam Xu was involved in this, and Minister Wen was kept in the dark?
“Silence!” Madam Xu shot a cold glare.
Ah Bao put her hands on her hips, stuck out her tongue, and mimicked a throat-slitting motion, “Kah.”
Madam Xu, you’re about to meet your end!
