Chapter 24 Eldest Sister

“Miss, something’s not right!”

Qing He hurriedly entered the Qingzhu Courtyard.

“What nonsense are you talking about?” Mother Zhao was very cautious and reprimanded Qing He upon hearing those words.

“Is miss fine?” she worriedly asked mother Zhaio

“Miss is fine and will continue to be fine! You, little one, catch your breath before speaking.”

Qing He stopped, took a deep breath, and then replied, “Mother, I was wrong. Miss will be fine!”

“What’s the matter?” Shu Yuwan smiled.

Qing He wore a troubled expression and hesitantly said, “Miss, outside… outside… they’re all talking about how arrogant the Shu family is, elevating the legitimate daughter to a status higher than a royal princess! They even allowed the child born to the Shu family’s daughter to be recorded in the Shu family’s genealogy.”

Upon hearing this, Mother Zhao became slightly flustered and quickly looked at Shu Yuwan.

Shu Yuwan furrowed her brow, “It must be the Marquis’s Mansion.”

“Is there any other news?”

“Eldest Madam has returned to the mansion and is currently causing a scene with Madam!” Qing He cautiously reported.

“Elder sister?”

Qing He nodded.

Shu Yuwan sighed. She hadn’t expected her eldest sister to be the first to act.

Shu Ting Ting was the eldest child in the Shu family. By the time she was born, her mother hadn’t given birth to another child for several years. It wasn’t until eldest sister was four or five years old that her mother became pregnant with the eldest brother.

Eldest sister was the most favored child in the family. Even the elder and second brothers couldn’t compare to her.

When she was born, eldest sister was already ten years old. By the time she was five, eldest sister was married off to the Eldest Son of Anding Marquis Family. Now, she was the wife of the heir of the Anding Marquis Mansion.

In the previous life, when the Shu family fell on hard times, eldest sister cut ties with the Shu family.

She had tried to seek help from eldest sister several times, but she couldn’t reach her. Only the maid beside eldest sister’s mother-in-law came out and gave her some money, asking her to think about eldest sister.

She had always felt helpless when it came to eldest sister.

Now, it seemed things might not be the same!

“Now that eldest sister has returned, let’s go and see.”

Mother Zhao advised, “Miss, Eldest Madam has a strong personality. You might be treated unfairly if you go.”

“Avoiding it won’t solve anything. Let’s go.”

Mother Zhao and Qing He quickly followed.

Qing Dai stayed behind to watch over Wenyue.

“Mother! Do you know that now, in the Marquis Mansion, my sisters-in-law mock and ridicule me whenever they see me. Even attending a banquet outside, I have to listen to their gossip!”

“You’ve already caused trouble by bringing back my sister-in-law. Why would you add the daughter of the Marquis’s Mansion to our Shu family’s genealogy? Are you out of your mind?”

Shu Madam furrowed her brow and listened patiently.

“Mother.”

“Greetings, elder sister!”

Shu Yuwan didn’t let the maid report back and walked in herself.

Seeing her younger sister in a difficult situation, Shu Yuwan felt a bit embarrassed.

But she believed she was speaking the truth. It was her parents and younger sister who had acted wrongly, causing her this embarrassment! She couldn’t understand how the family elders had agreed to such a situation.

“Yuwan is here, please sit down.” Lady Shu pulled her youngest daughter to sit beside her.

“Younger sister, now that you’re here, let’s talk together.” Ting Ting said to Yuwan.

“You can’t control your husband’s heart, leading to a divorce, which has greatly damaged the reputation of our Shu family’s daughters…”

Lady Shu’s expression darkened.

But Shu Yuwan, being her mother’s favorite, wasn’t afraid of her and continued despite her mother’s expression, “Mother, you only care about younger sister. Have you forgotten about my situation?”

“You’ve been married to the Marquis Family for many years, have legitimate children, and your son has been appointed as the heir! Is your situation worse than your younger sister’s?”

“Am I supposed to endure being mocked and criticized without reason? Is that fair to me?”

“You tell her, younger sister! Do you know how much criticism I face because of you? You should remove your daughter’s lineage from the Shu family’s records and add it to the Marquis’s Mansion!”

Ms. Shu felt a chill in her heart after hearing her eldest daughter’s words.

Both daughters-in-law could understand the difficulties of the youngest daughter, but her eldest daughter, who was her blood relative, had such an attitude!

Shu Yuwan gently tried to reason with her eldest daughter.

After greeting her mother and elder sister, Shu Yuwan calmly sat down before responding to her elder sister, “Elder sister, Wenyue’s lineage is in the Shu family’s records. You’ve been in the Marquis Mansion for twelve years, so you shouldn’t be concerned about who is recorded in the Shu family’s records!”

Shu Yuwan suddenly tured her head, staring coldly at Shu Yuwan, “What do you mean, younger sister? Am I not supposed to manage the family affairs?”

Lady Shu also tugged at Shu Yuwan’s sleeve.

Shu Yuwan smiled reassuringly at her mother and continued, “I know this may sound harsh, but it’s the truth, elder sister! You think I shouldn’t have returned after the divorce. My daughter Wenyue belongs to the Marquis’s Mansion. Even if she is raised by her divorced mother, she should be recorded in the Marquis’s Mansion. So, shouldn’t you, as an un-divorced daughter-in-law of the Marquis Mansion, be considered part of the Anding Marquis Mansion?”

“Moreover, none of the Shu family’s many women have caused a stir like I have, not even those who are unmarried! Only you, elder sister, claim you can’t bear this situation! Are you the worst off among all the Shu family women, that any slight disturbance can make you feel like you’re in hell…”

“You…”Shu Yuwan seemed taken aback.

“Mother, listen to this!”

“…..”

“Shu Ting Ting!”

Lady Shu’s voice was stern, “As the eldest daughter in the family, you should protect your younger siblings! Instead of adding problems when others criticize us!”
