Chapter 32 Meeting
As soon as Shu Yuyang left the Palace, he went to Shu Yuwan’s small courtyard.
“Yuwan, the Crown Prince wants to see you.”
“See me?”
Shu Yuyang nodded and explained everything that happened in the Palace.
After listening, Shu Yuwan realized that the Crown Prince probably wanted to know the specific details.
She instantly felt overwhelmed.
She had deduced everything based on her memories from her past life and the current situation, all to warn her brother about being cautious around the Fifth Prince.
“Is it appropriate for the Crown Prince to see me?”
“The Crown Prince said it would be discreet and not alert anyone.”
“Did he mention a specific time?”
“Tonight.”
Shu Yuwan looked surprised at Shu Yuyang.
Shu Yuyang nodded helplessly, “I didn’t expect the Crown Prince to suddenly have this idea. If I had known, I wouldn’t have mentioned you.”
Shu Yuwan shook her head.
Well.
Meeting the Crown Prince might not necessarily be a bad thing. Even if he talks nonsense, it could raise suspicions in the Crown Prince about the Fifth Prince.
“In that case, let Big Brother make the arrangements.”
…
At night, Shu Yuyang came to Shu Yuwan’s small courtyard again, this time with a servant boy following behind him.
Shu Yuwan had already sent away the maids and servants.
“Greetings, Your Highness!”
Shu Yuwan bowed respectfully.
The Crown Prince walked out from behind Shu Yuyang, “No need for formalities.”
“Visiting late at night is indeed impolite. I apologize for disturbing Miss Shu.”
Upon hearing the address “Miss Shu,” Shu Yuwan felt relieved.
But she still smiled, “Then why did Your Highness come? Could it be that you also suspect the Fifth Prince and wanted to confirm it?”
The Crown Prince was taken aback for a moment, then shook his head and patiently explained, “I have never doubted Fifth Brother. Yuyang is my study companion, different from my feelings for him. Besides, Lady Shu is my mother’s senior sister, and I trust that the Shu family has no reason to deceive me. Dealing with the Fifth Prince wouldn’t benefit you either.”
“Over the years, I have always believed that Fifth Brother’s feelings towards me are genuine, so I really want to know what’s going on.”
Shu Yuwan nodded, understanding now.
But was the Crown Prince too eager to know the answer that very night?
Was he valuing his brother, the Fifth Prince, so much?
Shu Yuwan pondered and said, “Your Highness you can investigate where the Zhao family’s money is going. Over the years, the Zhao family has gradually become one of the top merchants in the capital. Although the Zhao family has various innovative ideas, there must be someone supporting them behind the scenes. Who is supporting the Zhao family?”
“Furthermore, Zhao Qing Qing is about to marry into the Anding Marquis’s Family. Although the Anding Marquis’s residence is not as prominent as before, it originally rose from military origins and still holds some military power. While this military power may not be close to the capital and may seem useless, with the protection of the Zhao family’s merchant convoy, slowly building up in the capital, it could be a useful tool when needed!”
“Your Highness also deeply trusts the Fifth Prince. If he wants to do something to you, it might be easier than for others.”
The Crown Prince listened to Shu Yuwan’s analysis without any change in expression.
The next day.
The Fifth Prince came to the Palace as usual.
“Crown Prince, you promised to teach me archery!”
The Fifth Prince pouted innocently.
The Crown Prince paused for a moment upon seeing this innocent face, then smiled, “A promise is a promise.”
He then earnestly began teaching the Fifth Prince archery.
However, the Fifth Prince couldn’t stay focused for long and began to lose interest.
The Crown Prince made the Fifth Prince shoot fifty arrows as a punishment before leaving.
“The Fifth Prince is quite childish,” Ah Qing chuckled.
The Crown Prince glanced at Ah Qing but remained silent.
Internally, he sighed. Despite his father’s affection for him, he still needed to take a step back. What about his Fifth Brother?
As for being childish?
Shu Yuyang was right. At eleven years old, he was indeed not so young anymore! Especially growing up in the complex environment of the palace.
When his Fifth Brother first entered his sight, he was only six years old, and he always thought he was still too young.
Having lost his mother from a young age, even with his father’s protection, he had faced many hardships.
His Fifth Brother had almost no father or mother’s favor.
It was this shared experience that made him always look out for this younger brother.
He hoped that the brotherly affection he felt for his Fifth Brother wouldn’t turn into a weapon used against him…
