Chapter 35: I Could Buy a Computer Now
Three hours of travel, not too long, not too short.
After getting off the bus, Li Mu directly stretched his back.
They had just had a military training performance in the morning, and after taking a shower at noon, he didn’t have time to rest. Even though he had slept for seven hours, he still felt drowsy.
Just now on the bus, he had taken a short nap, and he didn’t know if he had snored.
No matter how thick-skinned he was, the thought of snoring in a crowded bus still made him feel socially dead.
Here, it must be mentioned that there are many benefits to sitting with acquaintances; if he snored, his friends sitting nearby would definitely wake him up.
“Right, Lu Xiaoxi?”
“What do you mean?” Lu Xiaoxi’s big eyes were filled with confusion. This guy had fallen asleep with his mouth open on the bus, and suddenly said something strange after getting off.
“Nothing, where’s your dad’s car?”
“It seems it hasn’t arrived yet. Let’s wait at the bus stop in front.”
“Okay.”
The small county still retained the business of carrying people on motorcycles and tricycles.
In a short distance of just a hundred meters, there were no less than twenty motorcycle uncles and tricycle aunties asking if they needed a ride.
Li Mu had taken such motorcycles before, ten yuan a ride, which was still considered cheap, but now with taxis being popular, this business had quickly declined.
Many vendors set up stalls in places with a lot of foot traffic. It was only seven o’clock now, not the most active time for vendors, and only a few small carts selling sweet drinks were trying to attract customers.
Soon, a black car came to pick them up.
Lu Xiaoxi’s parents had both arrived, and he and Lu Xiaoxi could only sit in the back seat, chatting happily among the four of them.
“Li Mu, do you want to come to Uncle Lu’s house for dinner?”
“Next time, my family is preparing a big meal tonight too.”
“Alright then, make sure to come play with Xiaoxi often.”
“Mom! Hurry up and go in!” Aunt Qin was pushed by Lu Xiaoxi into the house. Before closing the door, Lu Xiaoxi made a fierce face at Li Mu.
As soon as he got home, his mom enthusiastically pulled him to the dining table.
The dishes looked great, but Li Mu couldn’t praise the taste. He knew how his mom cooked, but her eagerly hopeful eyes made him eat two big bowls. Then he quickly took a shower and retreated to his room.
Hmm, it was the first day he missed Lu Xiaoxi’s cooking.
Tomorrow, he would shamelessly go to Lu Xiaoxi’s house to eat.
But…
With Lu Xiaoxi’s parents at home, he had to think of a perfect excuse to get a free meal.
He couldn’t just say that his mom’s cooking was too terrible. If he said that, Uncle Lu and Aunt Qin would only exchange knowing smiles, but Lu Xiaoxi would definitely tell her mom, and he would be in for a beating.
His dad might even take the opportunity to kick him a couple of times.
Lu Xiaoxi understood him the best.
Wait… why was his mind filled with thoughts of Lu Xiaoxi?
At school, they lived together, so it was normal to think of each other, but now at home, this was his territory. Why was he still thinking about Lu Xiaoxi?
He wasn’t like this before.
Li Mu quickly shook his head, trying to get rid of the thoughts of the innocent girl.
Suddenly, his phone lit up.
He received a WeChat message from [Little Pig Lu]–
[Little Pig Lu]: .
[Idiot Li]: Are you going to sleep?
[Little Pig Lu]: No, I just told my parents about buying a computer. They said they would directly help me pay for it, so I don’t need to tutor anymore.
[Idiot Li]: So you’re not tutoring anymore?
[Little Pig Lu]: Of course, it’s a part-time job, it won’t affect me. Later, teach me how to choose a computer.
[Idiot Li]: Didn’t you say buying a computer wasn’t urgent? (confused)
[Little Pig Lu]: Many computer brands are on sale for Mid-Autumn Festival, 699 and they even give away a keyboard, mouse, and computer bag. (grinning)
[Idiot Li]: Last time I asked you to send me the budget, you still haven’t sent it. (sweating)
After thinking for a moment, Li Mu retracted that message.
[Little Pig Lu]: I saw it.
[Idiot Li]: Should I go to your house to find you? Or will you come to my house?
[Little Pig Lu]: Dream on, let’s chat later.
Li Mu still wanted to take this opportunity to visit Lu Xiaoxi’s house.
How long had it been since he last entered Lu Xiaoxi’s home?
He couldn’t remember. He hadn’t been there much this year, but Lu Xiaoxi had come to his house for dinner three months ago.
Later on.
Lu Xiaoxi knocked on the door.
Li Mu walked to the door in his slippers, crouching down to look through the peephole.
The girl had probably just finished showering, wearing a pink short-sleeve shirt and shorts, the shorts had a fuzzy hem, and her slender legs revealed a large expanse of snow-white skin. The girl was wearing a pair of mechanical cat slippers, with the toes pointing inward, looking cute and waiting quietly for someone to open the door.
“Who dares to disturb my peace? Who dares to disturb my peace… disturb… peace…” Li Mu deliberately spoke in a high-pitched voice, mimicking the rough tones of the deities in “Journey to the West.”
“Hurry up and come out.” Lu Xiaoxi was amused. Was this guy never going to grow up? He used to do this when they were kids, and he was still doing it now, really childish.
“I’m counting to three!”
“Three!”
“Two!”
“One!”
Lu Xiaoxi’s mouth twitched, and just as she was about to count to 0.9, the door opened.
Li Mu was also dressed casually, and for boys, casual wear was basically pajamas.
“What’s the rush? Can’t I even go to the bathroom?” Although Li Mu complained, he was smiling. If he didn’t make Lu Xiaoxi angry for a day, he wouldn’t feel comfortable.
They say that smiling can add five seconds to your life. When Lu Xiaoxi got angry, he wanted to laugh. If Lu Xiaoxi was always angry, wouldn’t he achieve immortality?
“Did you finish in three seconds?”
“No, I’m going now.”
“You guy!”
One minute later.
Li Mu came out of the bathroom feeling refreshed, and he grabbed two bottles of drinks from the fridge.
“Here.”
“Did you wash your hands?”
“I did, look, they’re still wet.”
“Gross…”
The two of them took the elevator down.
The advantage of living in an old community is that the neighbors all know each other.
Many elderly people sat chatting downstairs, forming a powerful intelligence network; they knew if a new blade of grass appeared in the community.
When they got off the elevator, they had to greet a group of elderly people.
Some old folks spoke bluntly, saying that the two of them were a good match. Li Mu and Lu Xiaoxi had to argue back, bringing up all sorts of things from their childhood to prove they weren’t compatible, which made several old people laugh heartily.
The basketball court was always lit up, and many middle-aged women liked to dance square dance there. Unlike other places, these aunties didn’t occupy the basketball court; they found a well-lit area to dance in groups. Aside from the loud noise, it wasn’t too bad.
They sat down in a small pavilion not far from the basketball court, and even from that distance, they could still hear the music from the aunties’ square dance.
“Isn’t that your parents?”
“Yeah, they came down to play badminton after dinner.” Although Lu Xiaoxi was a bit nearsighted, she didn’t have the habit of wearing glasses, so she squinted to look at the basketball court and took a while to spot two familiar figures playing badminton.
“Weren’t you buying a computer? Why not talk about it up there? Why come to a place like this, where there are so many mosquitoes?”
Lu Xiaoxi also wanted to know why.
Clearly, they lived under the same roof at school, seeing each other all the time, but entering Li Mu’s house still felt a bit nerve-wracking for her.
At school, she paid rent and lived there as a tenant, but here, what identity should she have when entering Li Mu’s home?
Neighbor? Classmate? Friend? Childhood sweethearts? Or some other kind of relationship…
In any case, she felt nervous. That was Li Mu’s home, completely belonging to him. If she went in, it would feel like their relationship was very close…
