Chapter 1 Finally Waited for This Day
With only one month left until the college entrance examination, it was quiet in Class 1 of Senior Three at Beijing No. 2 High School, and everyone was making the final sprint for the exam.
At this moment, Su Xiwan, who was reading a book, felt her phone vibrate. She put down the pen in her hand, gently opened the phone, and found a message from Su Mu Fang Qinghui.
【Come home for the weekend!】
After reading this short message, Su Xiwan closed her phone, then silently put it in her pocket, but there was a slight smile on her lips. In her heart, she couldn’t help but think, “Finally waited for this day!” The slightly upturned corners of her mouth seemed to reveal her inner anticipation.
After school on Friday afternoon, Su Xiwan packed her school bag briefly, walked out of the school gate, and took the subway back to the Su family.
Although the Su family was considered wealthy, compared to the four major families in Beijing, it was nothing. So, the Su family’s residence was just in a relatively decent villa area.
Upon arriving at the Su family, Su Xiwan found that Su Mu Fang Qinghui, who had sent her home, was not at home. Not only Su Mu, but even Su Fu Su Maoyu and others were also not there.
Su Xiwan calmly carried her school bag and went upstairs. She could feel the servants around her looking at her with strange eyes. Those eyes contained disdain, mockery, and even a hint of schadenfreude.
And there were even people deliberately speaking in a voice she could hear:
“Oh, I thought Madam really favored her son over her daughter, but now it seems not. Look, when our real young lady came back, the master, madam, and the two young masters are all busy buying jewelry and clothes for the young lady!”
“Yeah, tonight, the master and the madam are taking the just-returned young lady to a banquet. Unlike this fake one, I’ve been at the Su family for so long and have never seen the master and madam take her out!”
“That’s right, I’ve only been helping at the Su family for two months, but I’ve also noticed that our young lady rarely comes home and is not favored by the master and madam. It turns out she’s the wrong fake rich girl, no wonder she doesn’t fit in at the Su family!”
“Look at the fake rich girl, always dressed like a bookworm, not as good-looking as my daughter! The fake is always fake, still wanting to soar like a phoenix. Look, she hasn’t even flown up yet and she’s about to fall down!”
………..
These harsh words entered Su Xiwan’s ears word by word. Her eyes were slightly cold, as if covered with a layer of frost. Then she did not stop her steps, nor did she make any intense reactions.
She extended her fingers, which kept swaying, and with a flash of light between her fingers, Su Xiwan scattered the talismans she had drawn in the void towards the few people who had just spoken.
Since these people couldn’t control their tongues, let their tongues suffer a bit. This subtle movement went unnoticed, but those talismans, like invisible punishments, were about to descend on those unkind people.
Su Xiwan arrived on the third floor. The Su family villa had three floors in total, with the rooms of Su Fu, Su Mu, eldest brother Su Hexuan, and second brother Su Heming all on the second floor. Only her room was in a small bedroom on the third floor.
Although this room was not large in size and relatively simple in decoration, it was one of the few places in this house where she could feel a little peace.
After entering the room, Su Xiwan found her room relatively tidy, which warmed her heart a bit. She estimated that this was cleaned by the housekeeper Zhou Sao.
Zhou Sao had been a long-time employee of the Su family, and among all the servants, only Zhou Sao was relatively kind to her.
Just as Su Xiwan was thinking, she heard a knock on the door from outside the room. Upon hearing it, she went to open the door and saw Zhou Sao standing outside with some food.
“Miss Wanwan, you haven’t had dinner yet, right? I made some food. Would you like to eat in your room or…?”
Looking at the simple Zhou Sao, Su Xiwan said gently:
“Give it to me, Aunt Zhou. I’ll have it myself!”
Saying this, Su Xiwan took the tray from Zhou Sao and placed it on her desk. Although the food on the tray was simple, it exuded the taste of home.
After Su Xiwan took the tray from Zhou Sao, the latter did not leave. She looked hesitant and looked at Su Xiwan. When Su Xiwan looked at her with some confusion, Zhou Sao seemed to have made up her mind and said:
“Miss Wanwan, a few days ago, the master and madam brought back a girl from outside, saying that girl is the real young lady of the Su family. I thought you might not know yet, so I wanted to tell you in advance.”
There was a hint of concern in Zhou Sao’s tone, fearing that this news would bring too much impact to Su Xiwan.
Su Xiwan looked at Zhou Sao, warmth in her eyes. In this home, the only warmth she felt was from this Aunt Zhou.
She smiled and said, “I know, Aunt Zhou. You don’t have to worry about me. By the way, Aunt Zhou, aren’t you taking a day off to go home today?”
Zhou Sao had been worried about Su Xiwan, and hearing her question, she asked with some confusion, “Yes, Miss. You just came back, how did you know?” Her eyes were full of bewilderment.
Su Xiwan didn’t answer Zhou Sao’s question. She just said, “Aunt Zhou, when you walk past the first crossroad on your way home, don’t turn. Walk straight down the main road. Don’t take the shortcut today.”
Zhou Sao looked at Su Xiwan with some confusion. “Miss, why are you saying this?”
“Aunt Zhou, just listen to me today. After all, the main road isn’t much farther than the shortcut you usually take.”
Seeing Su Xiwan say this, Zhou Sao was too embarrassed to ask further. Seeing that it was almost time for her to get off work, and thinking about her little daughter who would also be home for the weekend, she said goodbye to Su Xiwan and went to pack her things for her trip home.
Looking at Zhou Sao leaving, Su Xiwan couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. She hoped Zhou Sao would listen to her.
She didn’t want to expose her knowledge of mystic arts. She was afraid that the Su family couple would learn about her abilities and become reluctant to let her leave. In this home, she had been carefully guarding this secret, because she knew that once it was discovered, it might bring her more trouble and constraints.
Thinking about this, Su Xiwan couldn’t help but touch the plum blossom mark on her wrist. This peach blossom mark had been there since she could remember. When she was little, she was very curious why other people’s birthmarks were darker than their skin, but hers was pink.
However, the birthmark didn’t hurt or itch, and it didn’t affect her daily life, so Su Xiwan didn’t pay much attention to it.
It was only when she was in junior high school that she accidentally scratched her arm, and the blood flowed onto the peach blossom birthmark. From then on, it was as if she had gained a space, like the ones in novels.
But this space was very small, only about ten square meters. At that time, the space was empty, with only a few books.
Su Xiwan opened those books. The content was somewhat profound and difficult to understand, but Su Xiwan could still tell that the books were about the mystic arts.
With a curious heart, Su Xiwan began to study those books. Although the books were somewhat obscure and difficult to understand, Su Xiwan had an extraordinary memory. With her outstanding memory and intelligence, she gradually explored this mysterious field.
Those books contained the five arts of the mystic arts: mountain, medicine, fate, appearance, and divination. Su Xiwan was still very relaxed in her studies. When she first entered junior high school, Su Fu and Su Mu paid for her living expenses for a semester, so Su Xiwan didn’t have to work to earn money, so she had a lot of free time.
When she had nothing to do, she would study the books in the space. Over the past six years, she had almost finished learning those books, but she didn’t know how much she had learned about these mystic arts.
Because when she had achieved some success in learning these mystic arts, she discovered that Su Fu and Su Mu were not related to her by blood. From then on, she also understood why Su Fu and Su Mu treated her differently from her two brothers.
From then on, Su Xiwan wanted to leave the Su family. She was no longer the little Su Xiwan who longed for the love of her parents and the care of her family. Her heart had become firm and strong, and she had always longed to escape this family full of hypocrisy and coldness.
However, the books said that after learning the mystic arts, she should start to pay attention to karma. No matter how bad Su Fu and Su Mu were to her, they had raised her after all. So, for this karma, she couldn’t leave on her own. She had to wait for Su Fu and Su Mu to speak up.
So, she had waited for this day for a long time, and now it seemed she was finally about to wait for it! Her eyes sparkled with anticipation and determination, as if she was about to welcome the dawn of a new life.
