Chapter 2 Zhou Sao Avoids Disaster
After getting off work, Zhou Sao rode her electric scooter home, her heart filled with excitement. Her little daughter was also a senior this year. High school studies were intense, and her daughter hadn’t come home for over a month.
Thinking about being able to see her daughter, whom she hadn’t seen in a long time, Zhou Sao was full of anticipation for their reunion. She thought about making her daughter a delicious dinner, a good reward for the hard-working student!
Zhou Sao’s daughter was the same age as Su Xiwan, so when Zhou Sao saw Su Xiwan’s situation at the Su family, she felt a lot of sympathy for her. Zhou Sao knew that at this age, children should be growing up in the warmth and love of their families. However, Su Xiwan was neglected and treated unfairly at the Su family.
Whenever she saw Su Xiwan’s forlorn look and strong back, Zhou Sao’s heart would be filled with affection.
But she was just a servant, and there wasn’t much she could do to help Su Xiwan. She could only take care of her within her own capabilities.
Zhou Sao left the neighborhood where the Su family lived and arrived at the first crossroad. In the past, to save time waiting for traffic lights, Zhou Sao always turned right and took the shortcut home.
But just as she was about to turn right out of habit, she remembered what Su Xiwan had said to her. She stopped her scooter, looked at the red light that was about to turn green, and thought, “Anyway, it won’t take long to take the main road, so I might as well take the main road today.”
Just as the red light was about to turn green, Zhou Sao suddenly heard a scream coming from the right. She quickly turned her head to the right.
She saw that on the right side of the road, a tanker truck was going too fast and had directly overturned onto the sidewalk. And at this time… Zhou Sao roughly calculated that this was exactly the time she would have been riding her scooter to the place where the tanker truck had overturned.
Thinking about this, Zhou Sao suddenly broke out in a cold sweat. Her heart beat rapidly, as if it was about to jump out of her throat. If she hadn’t listened to Miss Wanwan today, wouldn’t she have been under that truck?
———-
The next day, Su Xiwan got up before the sun rose. She had a habit of exercising in the morning. It was the weekend, and the Su family was still asleep when Su Xiwan went downstairs.
When Su Xiwan reached the second floor, the conversation between Su Fu Su Maoyu and Su Mu Fang Qinghui entered her ears.
Su Maoyu: “Letting Su Xiwan leave, isn’t that good? After all, we raised her for so long!” Su Maoyu’s words carried a hint of hesitation and reluctance, as if he still had doubts about this decision.
“What’s wrong with that? Since she was little, I haven’t liked her. Now I finally know why. I get annoyed just looking at her!
And our real daughter has just returned. Do you want her to see the person who occupied her life for eighteen years still living in the house?” When Fang Qinghui heard Su Maoyu disagreeing with letting Su Xiwan leave, her voice became sharp. Her tone was full of disgust and urgency, as if she didn’t want Su Xiwan to stay in this house for a single moment.
“But Su Xiwan looks good. When she gets into a good university, she’ll be worth more. We can use her for a marriage alliance.”
Hearing Su Maoyu’s plan, Fang Qinghui thought about Su Xiwan’s appearance. Although Su Xiwan had always followed her instructions and covered her forehead with thick bangs, she wasn’t nearsighted, but she still wore glasses as she was told.
But she clearly remembered Su Xiwan’s appearance when she was little. This girl had been beautiful since she was young, but so what? She was still under her control and couldn’t turn the tables.
However, what she hadn’t expected was that her own daughter had suffered for eighteen years in her place. She had never dreamed that her own daughter had grown up in an orphanage.
Her Miaowen had suffered so much in the orphanage, how could Su Xiwan still marry into a wealthy family? Hmph, she would make Su Xiwan taste the experience of being an orphan. Without the protection of the Su family, she would see how Su Xiwan would survive.
Thinking about this, Fang Qinghui looked at Su Maoyu and said, “Husband, do you remember what the Feng Shui master said when I was pregnant with Miaowen?”
“You mean… ?” Su Maoyu said hesitantly.
“The Feng Shui master said that our future daughter would be a lucky star, and our Su family would take a step further because of this daughter.” Fang Qinghui said this, but in her heart, she didn’t really believe in Feng Shui. Otherwise…
“That’s true, but ever since Xiwan came to our house, our Su family has been thriving and doing very well.”
Su Maoyu was telling the truth. It seemed that since his wife gave birth and brought Su Xiwan home from the hospital, his company had been doing exceptionally well.
In just a few decades, their company had grown from a small company with a dozen employees to a large company with hundreds of employees. And during this time, all sorts of cooperation contracts had been signed very smoothly.
Fang Qinghui was unhappy when she heard Su Maoyu say this. No matter how much she didn’t believe in Feng Shui, she didn’t want to hear her husband say a good word about Su Xiwan. Hearing Su Maoyu attribute the Su family’s success to Su Xiwan, she said impatiently, “How could it be because of Su Xiwan that our family has been doing well these past years? Look at her, always with a gloomy face. I find her annoying! I think it’s because of Miaowen. Now that Miaowen is back, our Su family’s business will be even better!”
Su Maoyu didn’t say anything after hearing Fang Qinghui’s words. He didn’t really believe in Feng Shui either. He had just mentioned the changes in the Su family over the past decade because Fang Qinghui mentioned the Feng Shui master.
As for Su Xiwan, perhaps because this child had never been liked by the family since she was little, not only did his wife dislike her, but he also often ignored her existence.
Seeing that Su Maoyu didn’t say anything, Fang Qinghui emphasized again, “Now that Miaowen is back, if we let Su Xiwan stay in the house, won’t that be causing trouble for our precious daughter?
And look at Zhixun. Miaowen has only been back for a few days, and Zhixun has been circling around Miaowen all day. In my opinion, if we want a good marriage alliance, we still have to rely on our Miaowen!” Fang Qinghui became more and more excited, as if she could already see a bright future beckoning them.
After hearing Fang Qinghui’s words, Su Maoyu pondered for a moment. It was true that the Gu family and the Su family had arranged a childhood engagement. It’s just that Su Xiwan and Gu Zhixun hadn’t interacted much.
He had previously suggested to his wife that Su Xiwan shouldn’t live in the dormitory and that Fang Qinghui should take her to more wealthy banquets. But every time, his wife would stop him with various excuses.
And Su Xiwan’s bookworm look really made the Su family look bad. So, after suggesting it a few times without success, Su Maoyu stopped mentioning it.
However, he was now grateful that he hadn’t let Su Xiwan and Gu Zhixun interact more, otherwise, it would have been difficult to deal with after his own daughter came back.
Thinking about this, Su Maoyu said, “Then you handle it. Now that Miaowen is back, our family should get back on track.”
Su Maoyu and Fang Qinghui didn’t know that their conversation was overheard by Su Xiwan, who was standing at the corner of the stairs.
A sarcastic smile slowly spread across Su Xiwan’s lips, a smile that contained disdain for the couple and mockery of her own fate.
Su Xiwan didn’t stay any longer and continued to walk upstairs. She was going upstairs to pack some things and prepare to leave the Su family.
