Yu Sen’s words silenced the three of them instantly.
In fact, this was also their biggest concern. The stage for the Red Shoes woman’s performance seemed to have a mesmerizing effect, making the audience fall into a trance-like state. If they fell under its spell and sat in the front row, looking like they were challenging her, who else would she target?
Si Xuanyang had thought about hiding something sharp on his body. Maybe if he felt a prickling sensation, he wouldn’t be so easily hypnotized.
But there was always a risk with such measures. If the prickling on the skin didn’t work, or if their spirits left their bodies right at the start, it would be fatal.
And from what they had observed recently, while Yu Sen’s physical strength had weakened, his sensitivity to certain dangers seemed to have increased, even more so than theirs. So the best option was to have him sit in the front row with them.
But Si Xuanyang still refused. “It’s too dangerous. I don’t think it’s a good idea…”
“A man shouldn’t say he can’t do it!” Yu Sen glared at him, shaking his head with a smile. “I’ve regained some strength now, and I don’t feel as dizzy. Plus, my only job will be to keep you guys from passing out. As for charging into battle or doing anything risky, that’s your job. I’m perfectly safe, so don’t worry! It’s settled!”
He covered Si Xuanyang’s mouth with his hand, not letting him say a word, and laughed as he leaned in, pressing his forehead against Si Xuanyang’s, kissing the back of his own hand with a crescent-moon smile. “Listen to me, okay?”
Unable to argue with him, Si Xuanyang reluctantly agreed, repeatedly ordering him not to do anything dangerous.
Two hours later, the performance began.
Yu Sen sat in the front row with Si Xuanyang and the others. He leaned slightly against Si Xuanyang’s shoulder, dozing off in the dim light to recharge his energy.
After resting for a while, he straightened up again, fearing that any lurking ghost in the dark might see him as an easy target and make him the first victim.
He remembered the person who died under the rose yesterday. The more he thought about it, the stranger it seemed. That person should have been killed while distracted during the Red Shoes dancer’s performance. But at that time, the Red Shoes dancer was clearly on stage, and the red shoes were on her feet. How could she have killed him?
Could it be that she just targeted him with a glance from afar and killed him? That was unlikely.
Moreover, according to the program content and the prop given by the clock, the red rose was supposed to be the thing that killed the Red Shoes dancer. She should be terrified of it. How could she use it to kill someone?
Unless… there was someone else who used the red rose to kill.
Could it be that woman without the scar, Ruan Xin? Yu Sen rubbed his chin, pondering. Usually, such a special character is connected to the final mission.
Ruan Xin and the Red Shoes dancer looked exactly the same, but Ruan Xin didn’t have the scar on her face, though she had a leg injury. Every time the Red Shoes dancer performed on stage, she used thick stage makeup to cover the scar on her face, but this kind of makeup couldn’t be worn offstage in real life…
It was hard not to think of the idea of a double: the older sister couldn’t dance anymore due to a leg injury, so the younger sister stepped in, but because of her appearance, she could only use her sister’s name. The younger sister’s dancing skills were outstanding, and she gained fame, but all the glory and love offstage were attributed to the sister. When the stage lights went out, the younger sister had nothing. Perhaps, due to the scar, she was even ridiculed. Over time, resentment would surely build up.
But if that’s the case, there should be a rift between the Red Shoes dancer and Ruan Xin. Maybe it’s because of this resentment that the Red Shoes dancer killed everyone in the theater.
In that case, Ruan Xin should be happy that they want to kill the Red Shoes dancer. Why was she killing them one by one instead?
Women are so hard to understand!
Yu Sen massaged his temples with some frustration and sighed. His right hand still lacked strength. This body was so weak that even thinking a little bit made him tired, let alone jumping across a few buildings like in the first zombie world.
…
The sequence of the show was still the same as on the program card, without any changes. After a few performances, when it was time for the normal dinner, Yu Sen felt his stomach start to act up again.
But he couldn’t be bothered to deal with it. The pain had become a habit. In fact, if you were to say that his nerves were sensitive, it was probably because of the torment from this stomach pain. If his stomach didn’t hurt, he might have died on the first night he came here.
From the beginning of the show, he had been playing with Si Xuanyang’s fingers, but now his grip had changed slightly. Si Xuanyang naturally guessed what was going on and leaned over to whisper in his ear, “Your stomach hurts again?”
“Yeah, I want some yam and pork rib soup…” Yu Sen replied listlessly.
“When this ends tonight, you can have some tomorrow,” Si Xuanyang said, holding his hand and slowly pressing the acupoint between his thumb and index finger to ease his pain.
Yu Sen smiled slightly and glanced at Si Nan and Luo Yu beside him. By now, Luo Yu had probably met Si Nan’s and Si Xuanyang’s parents. Once this is over, should he go there too and scare them a little?
Just thinking about it made him a bit excited!
…
As the performance neared its end, Si Xuanyang and the others also sat up straight, getting ready. The final act, “The Red Shoes: A Mourning Love,” began with the music.
Yu Sen’s nerves began to tense, his whole body tightened, causing sharp pains in his stomach. In no time, cold sweat started to break out on his body.
He sighed inwardly: With this kind of pain, it was unlikely that he would be mesmerized by the dance.
The first row was closest to the stage, giving them the clearest view of the eerie, frantic dance. However, the stage lights also exposed their bodies from the darkness.
The expression on the Red Shoes dancer’s face was cold, sinister, frenzied, and even evil. Yu Sen could see it all clearly, and a chill ran through his body.
Even the blood-red rose the dance shoes sketched out seemed to carry a real scent of blood, making him feel nauseous.
Feeling a bit dizzy, Yu Sen gritted his teeth and pressed hard on his stomach. The sharp pain, like a knife in the tide, instantly made his vision go dark, but it also stimulated his nerves to some extent. When he opened his eyes again, he clearly saw the Red Shoes dancer on stage smiling maliciously.
His heart tightened, and he grabbed Si Xuanyang’s hand. Just then, a dark shadow suddenly flashed across the stage light reflected on the floor in front of him.
