Chapter 17 Mu Jingchen Investigates Su Xiwan
Teacher Zhang took the Health Talisman from Su Xiwan’s hand and looked at her with some doubt: “Xiwan, is my child… ?”
Su Xiwan was about to answer when the restaurant staff started serving their food. Su Xiwan leaned back and said:
“Teacher Zhang, after we finish eating, you should take your son to the hospital. Although I can’t tell what disease he has, I know that the sooner you go to the hospital, the better!”
Teacher Zhang, hearing Su Xiwan’s words, couldn’t help but feel a pang of worry in her heart. After all, as parents, they would always be more concerned and worried about anything related to their children.
Teacher Zhang forced herself to remain calm. She managed to squeeze out a smile and first persuaded Su Xiwan to eat quickly. Then, she put a mouthful of rice in her mouth. But the rice seemed to have lost its taste, and she couldn’t eat with an appetite. Teacher Zhang looked at Su Xiwan, her eyes filled with curiosity and doubt:
“Xiwan, you… when did you learn this skill?”
You know, this child always had good grades and never missed or was late for class. High school courses were so heavy, and she didn’t know how this child had time to learn anything else.
“Teacher Zhang, I learned it by chance from a master. Teacher, I gave you the Health Talisman just now. You should have your son carry it with him during the day and put it under his pillow at night.” Su Xiwan said earnestly, her eyes clear and firm.
Teacher Zhang nodded after hearing Su Xiwan’s words. You know, she was a teacher, and she had always adhered to scientific principles. But just now, Su Xiwan could tell that her child was uncomfortable just by looking at her face. And the flash of golden light when Su Xiwan was drawing the talisman just now.
All of this subverted her previous knowledge and worldview, but it also made her believe in Su Xiwan’s skills. Teacher Zhang ate her meal absentmindedly. Originally, she had invited Su Xiwan to dinner to celebrate her success. But now, her mind was full of her child’s condition. She didn’t have the mood to enjoy the food.
After eating hastily, Teacher Zhang felt guilty and said goodbye to Su Xiwan:
“Xiwan, I’ll take my son to the hospital for a check-up as soon as I get home. No matter what the results are, I’ll call you. Also, I invited you to dinner so hastily. When I have time, I’ll treat you to a good meal!”
Su Xiwan, hearing Teacher Zhang say this, smiled reassuringly at her and said:
“It’s okay, teacher. We can have dinner anytime. The important thing is for your brother to see a doctor. Teacher, you go ahead and get busy!”
Teacher Zhang apologized to Su Xiwan again before leaving in a hurry. Su Xiwan, watching Teacher Zhang’s departing figure, fell into deep thought.
Teacher Zhang was a good teacher, and students needed teachers like her. She hoped that Teacher Zhang’s child would really recover this time. After all, Teacher Zhang only had this one child, and she could only have this one child in her lifetime.

The next day, Mu Family’s Old Residence in Beijing
The Mu family was the second most powerful family among the four major families in Beijing. The Mu family’s patriarch had already retired. The Mu family’s old residence was very large, so besides the eldest son and his wife who lived outside, everyone else still lived in the old residence.
Although most of them lived in the old residence, the Mu family members all had their own jobs and studies, so they didn’t come back to the old residence every day. Only on weekends was the old residence the most crowded. Today was Saturday, and after everyone had breakfast, they chatted, played chess, or watched TV.
The Mu family patriarch, after breakfast every day, would invariably watch the local news in Beijing. Mu Jinghao, who was accompanying the patriarch to watch TV, couldn’t help but exclaim when he saw a piece of news:
“She actually got into Peking University!”
Mu Jinghao’s exclamation broke the silence in the living room and attracted the attention of others. Everyone turned their gaze to the TV screen and saw the news report about this year’s top scorer in the Beijing college entrance exam.
“I didn’t expect this year’s top scorer to be from No. 2 Middle School!” Mu Jinghao, seeing the title of the news report, couldn’t help but click his tongue. His tone was a mix of surprise and admiration!
“Everyone watching the TV saw Su Xiwan being interviewed. At first glance, everyone thought this girl was really beautiful, and at second glance, they felt a sense of familiarity.
Mu Jingchen, who was playing chess with his second uncle Mu Hongye, also looked up at the TV after hearing everyone’s exclamation. However, when he saw Su Xiwan’s appearance, he was somewhat stunned.
This… this girl looks so alike!!!! Shock and waves surged in his heart as he stared closely at the TV screen, as if wanting to engrave that image in his mind.
“Jingchen, what are you looking at, it’s your turn to play!”
Mu Hongye, sitting across from Mu Jingchen, looked up at his nephew who was in a daze and urged him. His voice pulled Mu Jingchen back to reality from his shock.
Mu Jingchen did not respond to his uncle’s words; he muttered:
“Uncle, does this girl on TV look a bit like my mom?” His voice was full of disbelief and joy.
Not only Mu Hongye but also the other members of the Mu family watching TV heard Mu Jingchen’s words.
Even the old master Mu, after seeing Su Xiwan’s appearance, said:
“I knew this child looked familiar; it turns out her face shape and mouth are similar to Xingman, and her eyes… hey, look, don’t her eyes resemble Hongtao.”
The Hongtao mentioned by the old master Mu is his eldest son, and Jiang Xingman is his eldest daughter-in-law. The couple has two sons and a daughter. The eldest son is Mu Jingchen, who was just playing chess with Mu Hongye and is currently a soldier. The second son is Mu Jingyu, who is now a famous star.
Mu Hongtao and Jiang Xingman have a daughter named Mu Yunyue. Mu Yunyue is the only girl in the entire Mu family and has been cherished like a jewel since birth, receiving endless love and care. However, when this child was just a few months old and being pushed out by the nanny, she was abducted by bad people.
The Mu family has been tirelessly searching for her over the years, but with the vastness of the country and the sea of people, after so many years, there has been no news at all.
After hearing the words of the old master Mu, everyone gathered around, approaching the TV carefully to scrutinize Su Xiwan’s face on the screen. They indeed felt that this girl seemed to embody all the advantages of Jiang Xingman and Mu Hongtao. While they were amazed, they also wondered in surprise, “Could it be this coincidental?”
Could they really find the child they had been searching for over a decade just by watching TV? At this moment, everyone felt incredulous.
After this news report ended, everyone remained somewhat silent. Mu Jingchen was the first to react. His hands trembling, he picked up his phone from the table, wanting to inform his parents about this news. However, he was afraid that it might disappoint his parents again. Since his younger sister went missing, his mother’s health had been deteriorating.
Thinking of this, Mu Jingchen took a deep breath, tried to calm himself down, and then dialed a number:
“Hello, can you help me investigate information about someone?”
Mu Jingchen spoke, providing the name and approximate information of Su Xiwan that he had just seen on TV. His voice carried urgency and anticipation, hoping to get detailed information about this girl as soon as possible.”
