Chapter 21 Encounter
Here, at the entrance of the residential area where Su Xiwan lives, the crowd is bustling, and vehicles are constantly flowing. Because this residential area is very close to Jingshi No. 2 Middle School, the houses here are densely packed and small in space. There is no parking space inside the residential area, only a small parking lot outside the community.
Ji Hangyi drove his cool sports car and finally found a parking space in the parking lot. After parking the car, he got out of the car, adjusted his collar, and before he could catch his breath, he heard a familiar voice: “Hangyi?”
Ji Hangyi subconsciously turned his head and saw Mu Hongtao and Mu Jingchen. Ji Hangyi quickly smiled and greeted them warmly, “Uncle Mu, Brother Jingchen, what brings you here?”
Mu Hongtao also saw Ji Hangyi at this moment. He smiled and said to Ji Hangyi, “Hangyi, we are here for something, what about you? Are you here to see your classmates?”
“Ah? Hehe, Uncle Mu, sort of!” Ji Hangyi scratched the back of his head while speaking, looking a bit naive and mischievous.
As one of the four major families in Jingshi City, the Ji family is well-known. Ji Hangyi’s aunt is Mu Jingchen’s second aunt. With this relationship, Ji Hangyi often visits the Mu family and is very familiar with them, maintaining a good relationship.
Mu Jingchen parked the car and walked past Ji Hangyi with Mu Hongtao. He patted Ji Hangyi on the shoulder and said, “Let’s go in together!”
So, the three of them entered the residential area. Due to its age, the area looked a bit rundown. Mu Hongtao, looking at the environment, felt a surge of indescribable anger and dissatisfaction, silently blaming the Su family for their heartlessness and cruelty.
Regardless of whether Su Xiwan is their biological child, they have raised her for so many years. Even without a blood relationship, there should be some affection. Taking back their biological child and driving out the child they raised for so many years is truly chilling!
In fact, Mu Jingchen only did a simple investigation on Su Xiwan, as he just wanted to know if she was his sister, without delving deeper.
So they had no idea that Su Xiwan didn’t start living here after being driven out by the Su family; she has been living in this community since high school.
The three of them walked in the same direction, and Ji Hangyi also had some doubts in his mind. Why were Uncle Mu and Brother Mu always following him?
Could it be that they don’t trust me and want to make sure I reach my destination? Thinking of this, Ji Hangyi felt a bit embarrassed and awkwardly said to Mu Hongtao and Mu Jingchen, “Uncle Mu, Brother Jingchen, you don’t need to see me off. My friend lives in this community, see, that building over there!”
At this moment, Ji Hangyi saw the unit where Su Xiwan lived and pointed it out to Mu Hongtao and Mu Jingchen.
Mu Jingchen also glanced at his phone, confirmed the address on it, and slightly raised his mouth towards Ji Hangyi, saying, “Coincidentally, we are also going to that building!”
Upon hearing Mu Jingchen’s words, Ji Hangyi was also surprised and said, “Is it really that coincidental?” After all, in this community with so many buildings, it was quite improbable that the person they were looking for would be on the same floor.
The group continued walking and soon entered the building. As they entered the corridor, a damp smell hit them. To make matters worse, there was no elevator in the community, so the three of them had to climb the stairs. When they gasped their way to the fifth floor, Ji Hangyi suddenly realized that the person they were looking for must all be on the fifth floor, and they were even on the same floor?
Ji Hangyi looked at Mu Jingchen in surprise, and Mu Jingchen, also surprised, asked, “Hangyi, which unit are you looking for?”
After hearing Mu Jingchen’s question, Ji Hangyi found the message Su Xiwan had just sent him on his phone and confirmed, saying, “502!”
Upon hearing Ji Hangyi’s words, Mu Jingchen couldn’t help but find it too coincidental. He asked Ji Hangyi in surprise, “Are you looking for Su Xiwan?”
“Yes, Brother Jingchen, how did you know? Oh? Could it be this coincidental? Are you and Uncle Mu also here to see Master Su?”
“Master Su?” Mu Hongtao, who was a bit out of breath from climbing the stairs, couldn’t help but ask upon hearing Ji Hangyi’s words.
Seeing room 502 not far away, Mu Jingchen knew this wasn’t the best place for conversation. Regardless, they would meet Su Xiwan first. Any questions could be asked to Ji Hangyi later on.
“We’re also here to see Su Xiwan,” Mu Jingchen said to Ji Hangyi, seeing that Mu Hongtao had rested enough. “Let’s go together.”
Mu Jingchen slightly supported Mu Hongtao and walked towards room 502. Ji Hangyi, hearing Mu Jingchen’s words, was a bit stunned, but quickly reacted and followed them, thinking to himself: “This is too coincidental!”
The three of them arrived at the door of Su Xiwan’s rented apartment. Mu Jingchen politely knocked on the door twice. A clear female voice came from inside:
“Coming!”
Soon, they heard footsteps approaching from inside the room, followed by a creak as the door slowly opened, revealing a girl in simple clothes but radiating a dazzling glow.
Su Xiwan thought it was Ji Hangyi coming to deliver the jade, but she didn’t expect him to bring two other people. Su Xiwan wondered if these two were here to join in the fun with Ji Hangyi or to buy talismans or ask her to solve something.
Thinking of this, Su Xiwan habitually wanted to check Mu Hongtao and Mu Jingchen’s faces, but she couldn’t help but frown when she looked at them.
She couldn’t see their facial features, just like the boy she met at the restaurant. Moreover, Su Xiwan vaguely sensed a karmic connection with them that she couldn’t understand.
Could it be…? It couldn’t be that coincidental, could it? Su Xiwan thought with some doubt.
While Su Xiwan was pondering, Ji Hangyi saw that everyone was standing there dumbfounded, except for himself. The atmosphere became a bit awkward.
Ji Hangyi felt a bit confused and cautiously broke the silence:
“Uh, Master Su, I’m here to deliver the jade.”
Seeing Ji Hangyi’s respectful attitude towards Su Xiwan, Mu Hongtao and Mu Jingchen were both surprised. After all, Ji Hangyi was a notorious little tyrant in their circle. When had he ever been so respectful to someone? And to a teenage girl! Out of courtesy, they didn’t say anything, but they were filled with intense curiosity.
Hearing Ji Hangyi’s words, Su Xiwan quickly snapped out of her thoughts. She politely nodded to the three of them, stepped back, and let them come in. Su Xiwan’s rented apartment was small, but she still managed to move three stools for them to sit on.
Mu Hongtao and the others had always been accustomed to a luxurious life, but seeing the stools Su Xiwan had brought for them, they all politely thanked her, took the stools from Su Xiwan’s hands, and sat down in the available space in the rented apartment without a hint of disdain.
After sitting down, Mu Hongtao glanced around the cramped room. Thinking that Su Xiwan was very likely his daughter, he couldn’t help but feel a pang of heartache seeing her living in such an environment.
Su Xiwan, with her heightened senses, naturally noticed the fleeting pang of heartache in Mu Hongtao’s eyes. This further confirmed her guess and made her understand their purpose in coming here.
