Chapter 260: They Are Already Begging in the Streets
He forgot about going to Yue City.
Di Hongluan entered the room unceremoniously and saw the Prince Yanling.
She paused at the door, as the Prince Yanling before her did not match the character she had known.
In the book, the Prince Yanling of the Fire Kingdom was exceptionally noble, the sole prince of the Fire Kingdom, and was a beloved child with thick brows, large eyes, and a spiritual aura.
Yet, the one before her was dark and grim…
“I’m here not with any other intention, but to assist Master Yang and Your Highness.”
“Who are you exactly? What assistance are you offering us?”
“I foresaw that His Highness was destined for a calamity, so I came specially to help.”
Yang Lei thought about the Prince Yanling’s dire situation today and saw it as a life-threatening disaster.
“How can we resolve it?”
“Holy Water from the Earth Kingdom.”
Yang Lei’s eyes lit up. How had he not thought of that!
“Considering the relationship between the Fire Kingdom and the Earth Kingdom, it shouldn’t be difficult for Master Yang to obtain the Holy Water from the Earth Kingdom.”
“Thanks for the reminder.”
Di Hongluan’s words were a timely solution to Yang Lei’s urgent problem and saved the Prince Yanling’s life.
“The message has been delivered, and further discussion is unnecessary. We shall part ways here.” Di Hongluan said with ease and left.
“May I know your name?”
“Hongluan.” With that, Di Hongluan left lightly.
After tonight, she had effortlessly established a relationship with the Fire Kingdom’s prince, laying the foundation for her future ambitions.
The Fire Kingdom was the top nation in the Four Nations.
Even among the Seven Nations, the Fire Kingdom was ranked fourth.
Furthermore, with the old emperor’s imminent death, once the Prince Yanling ascended the throne, she would be a distinguished guest of the Fire Kingdom’s royalty.
Di Hongluan left quickly and was unaware that Di Jiaoyang was also in Crescent Village.
As she mounted her horse outside the village, a voice of evil from within her body echoed, “You really can’t be trusted.”
Di Hongluan felt great and responded, “None of your business!”
“Tsk, what a disaster!” The evil voice was gleeful.
Di Hongluan frowned, wondering if she had inadvertently brought misfortune to the Little Yanling and Yang Lei.
Just then, a ‘thud’ sounded from behind, and she saw the courtyard she had just left collapse.
Di Hongluan was startled and relieved she had left quickly.
Her horse, perhaps startled by the sound, neighed and bolted. Di Hongluan wasn’t prepared, and the horse galloped away, throwing her off.
She landed on a stake in the farmland, feeling a sharp pain and nearly vomiting blood. “Get out, get out of my body, ugh—”
She coughed up a mouthful of old blood, her vision went dark, and she fainted.
—
Meanwhile, the Prince Yanling had his leg crushed by a falling beam.
With his feet and thighs already trapped by mouse traps, having his leg broken was just adding insult to injury.
The Prince Yanling passed out from the pain.
Yang Lei cried out in despair, feeling utterly helpless and cursing his bad luck!
The landlady came over and scolded them, calling them calamity bringers, saying that they had managed to collapse the house by staying there just one night.
Fearing that the landlady might escalate the situation and expose their identities, Yang Lei had to offer a large sum of money to apologize.
To Yang Lei’s surprise, the landlady didn’t want any money; she only wanted the house repaired.
The people outside avoided Crescent Village, and the landlady, being a woman, couldn’t manage the repairs on her own.
With many villagers either sick or dead, even though they had recovered somewhat, they hadn’t fully recuperated and couldn’t help with the repairs. She had to seek laborers from outside.
Nobody was willing to come to Crescent Village.
Yang Lei tried to reason with her, “Auntie, we are the victims here. Your house collapsed and broke my child’s leg. Who should we turn to for justice?”
Yang Lei felt that the landlady was trying to extort money and ended up saying some unkind things.
These villagers were the type to bully the weak and fear the strong; being polite only encouraged them to take advantage.
But Yang Lei was mistaken!
The landlady said, “Then report it to the authorities. Let the officials come and investigate. My house was perfectly fine before.”
Yang Lei was stunned, unable to believe that a mere woman would insist on reporting to the authorities!
Whether the authorities could investigate the matter or not, once it was reported, it would be impossible to keep their identities hidden.
“Auntie, please…”
“Whoever is right or wrong doesn’t matter to me. I’m too lazy to argue. Reporting to the authorities is the most fair. Report it!” The landlady was adamant.
Yang Lei found himself in a difficult position and ended up pleading with the landlady, “Alright, I’ll give you all my money. Please don’t report this. Let’s settle this privately.”
“Do you think I want your money? I don’t want silver. I want to report it!”
Yang Lei: “…”
Why was this person so unreasonable?
Yang Lei was so desperate he nearly kneeled to the landlady. Seeing Yang Lei’s predicament, the landlady reluctantly agreed.
Yang Lei dared not stay any longer, grabbing the unconscious little Yanling
and fleeing.
Not far away, on the rooftop, Ah Bao watched the scene from above, swaying her little pigtails, and smiled.
“Princess…” Feng Zhuo appeared.
Ah Bao grinned, got up, and patted her backside, “I’m off to find my sister.”
Feng Zhuo understood.
The little princess had seen Di Hongluan’s appearance earlier.
With no money or horses left, Yang Lei gave all his silver to the landlady. As he dragged the Prince Yanling out into the cold and desolate night, Yang Lei felt numb.
The Prince Yanling woke up from the cold, feeling both pain and chill.
“Uncle Yang, where are we?”
Yang Lei was reluctant to tell the Prince Yanling that during his unconsciousness, they had ended up on the streets.
The distinguished prince of the Fire Kingdom and the senior disciple of Taoist Tianlin had fallen to such a state without accomplishing their mission.
“Prince Yanling?” Hu Zuo hurried over, it was already late at night.
“Hu Zuo, what brings you here?” Yang Lei saw a glimmer of hope.
“Didn’t you send someone to inform me to come?”
Yang Lei was taken aback, realizing it might be… the mysterious girl in white from earlier, Hongluan?
“Did you bring the Holy Water from the Earth Kingdom?”
“Yes, but only a drop.”
Yang Lei stared, “Given the severity of the prince’s injuries, a single drop won’t be enough.”
“Our Earth Kingdom’s Holy Water is very effective; just one drop should be sufficient.” Hu Zuo clearly was unwilling to give more.
Yang Lei sighed, “Fine, let’s see it.”
Yang Lei administered the drop of Holy Water to the Prince Yanling.
“Ugh—”
The Prince Yanling immediately felt nauseous and vomited.
“Your Highness, how are you?”
“Ugh, don’t worry. Our Earth Kingdom’s Holy Water is very effective. One drop will cure the illness.”
“It tastes awful! What kind of Holy Water is this? It stinks; is this fecal water?” The Prince Yanling was so enraged he could speak.
“Your Highness, how can you disparage our Earth Kingdom’s Holy Water like that?” Hu Zuo was outraged!
He huffed, “Even if you are a prince, you shouldn’t speak so irresponsibly. Our Holy Water is a treasure to us. If something goes wrong, it must be because of your curse!”
