Chapter 25.1
The trailing tone of his voice was filled with danger.
Ruan Mingfu shivered but was unable to move due to being restrained. The breath on her neck made her skin even more sensitive.
She swallowed hard.
“…If you have something to say, let’s discuss it properly. Please let me go first.”
Xie Yanzhao didn’t speak.
The atmosphere around them grew more ambiguous.
The heat from Xie Yanzhao’s body seemed to be melting her. Ruan Mingfu tried to shift her body, not realizing that such actions were only putting her in a more dangerous situation.
Xie Yanzhao’s gaze grew even deeper.
Ruan Mingfu felt like crying without tears, regretting why she had provoked him earlier.
The atmosphere became tense.
Xie Yanzhao held her waist firmly, like a hunter watching struggling prey.
He curved his lips into a faint smile and said, “What’s wrong? Am I still not interesting enough?”
“No, no… You’re amazing,” Ruan Mingfu said weakly, “Really.”
As if afraid he wouldn’t believe her, she turned to look directly into Xie Yanzhao’s eyes and nodded vigorously.
As if that would make him believe her.
But what Ruan Mingfu didn’t realize was that this was the most dangerous moment.
Especially with her innocent expression, which was even more captivating and likely to provoke his hidden destructive urges, even though Xie Yanzhao was a soldier with incredible self-control. He couldn’t escape it.
Though he didn’t really want to control himself.
Ruan Mingfu suddenly felt the light in front of her dim, followed by a warm sensation on her lips, and then her teeth were pried open.
…
After a long while, Ruan Mingfu covered her lips, which were as red as if washed with water, and shot a glare at Xie Yanzhao, her eyes sharp as daggers.
You dog!
No moral ethics!
Xie Yanzhao sat nearby, his long legs crossed, raising an eyebrow at her.
Ruan Mingfu was even angrier.
Bastard!
He had looked so fierce and crazy just now, as if he was going to devour her. Even thinking about it now made her heart race.
The dog man doesn’t like her but still treats her like this!
She glared at Xie Yanzhao again.
He saw this, and his usually cold eyes rarely showed a hint of amusement. “Are you angry? Come… bite me back.”
He extended his arm, indicating to her to do so.
Ruan Mingfu: “…”
Was she a dog?
Everything was for her to bite!
With his steel-like arm, she was afraid it would break her teeth if she bit him.
The dog man was clearly so serious before, why was he being so lecherous now? If she had known Xie would be so difficult, she definitely wouldn’t have chosen him back then.
Hmph!
After their earlier entanglement, both of them had some marks on their bodies.
Xie Yanzhao smoothed out the creases on his clothes caused by Ruan Mingfu’s grasp, returning to his immaculate appearance. Compared to him, Ruan Mingfu looked much more disheveled.
Her neatly arranged hair was now a mess.
Her eyes were glossy, her lips were bright, and her dress had some wrinkles. It was clear what had just happened. Ruan Mingfu, both embarrassed and angry, shot another scathing look at the dog man in the mirror.
She fixed her disheveled hair and, while turning her head, noticed a fresh bite mark on her neck, surrounded by red marks.
It looked extremely suggestive.
Ruan Mingfu remembered the scene from earlier… and the dog man’s passionate expression.
She raised her head and, inadvertently, met Xie Yanzhao’s gaze in the mirror. His eyes were like a wolf’s, the blackness in his pupils dense like an inky fog, almost suffocating.
Ruan Mingfu’s heart skipped a beat, and she turned away, avoiding his gaze.
She didn’t even know why she was avoiding his eyes. It should be him who felt guilty.
She took out the ointment for her neck.
The cold paste touched her warm skin suddenly, making Ruan Mingfu flinch. After adjusting, she carefully applied it to the bite mark in the mirror.
Xie Yanzhao’s gaze remained fixed on Ruan Mingfu.
Ruan Mingfu’s hand trembled, almost dropping the comb.
She quickly straightened her dress and said to him, “It’s done. Let’s go.”
But Xie Yanzhao remained still.
He leisurely stared at Ruan Mingfu, then extended his long hand and tapped her shoulder.
The girl was quite vain.
If someone saw that mark, she would surely blame him. It was better to remind her for the sake of his future.
Ruan Mingfu initially didn’t understand but then realized what he meant.
Her face turned red, and she shot an angry glare at Xie Yanzhao.
You dog man!
It’s all your fault!
The bite mark was in a very awkward place, right above the collar. There was no concealer to cover it, and she had no idea how to hide it.
Especially since she had to go out later. If someone saw it, she might as well not live.
Ruan Mingfu angrily glared at Xie Yanzhao, “…It’s all your fault!”
But Xie Yanzhao had no shame!
He looked completely unperturbed and very at ease. When Ruan Mingfu glared at him, he even gave her a smile.
Ruan Mingfu: “…”
She wished she could bite him to death.
Dog man!
She felt like the dog man had changed.
Though he used to be stern and direct with her, it was all quite normal. Now…
Seeing Ruan Mingfu anxiously pacing around the ward, a hint of helplessness flashed across Xie Yanzhao’s dark eyes.
He stood up and took out a light-colored silk scarf from the pile of things he had bought earlier.
Ruan Mingfu’s eyes brightened.
She held the scarf up to the mirror and adjusted it around her neck. “Oh no, this one is too plain. Get me another one.”
Xie Yanzhao took it back and retrieved another one from the pile. “How about this one?”
Ruan Mingfu didn’t even turn her head. She took it, glanced at it, and said, “This one has a better color.”
It was also a light-colored scarf, but not as plain as the previous one. It not only covered the mark on her neck but also made her dress look different.
It looked absolutely stunning.
The marks on her neck had mostly faded; though still vaguely visible, they were no longer as alarming as before.
Ruan Mingfu looked at her reflection in the mirror with satisfaction. “Shall we go?”
Xie Yanzhao’s eyes were filled with admiration.
He had always known that Ruan Mingfu was beautiful, but he was continually amazed by her.
Suppressing his emotions, he walked over to her.
In the mirror, their reflections appeared: the man was tall and the woman petite, and together they looked strikingly harmonious.
“Let’s go.”
…
Ruan Mingfu had expected Xie Yanzhao to take her out of the hospital, and she had even worn small shoes for the occasion. However, he didn’t go down the stairs but instead led her through a maze of corridors and finally stopped in front of a hospital room.
“Come here.”
Xie Yanzhao stood at the door, glancing at her.
Ruan Mingfu looked at him in confusion.
The man didn’t say anything.
After hesitating for a moment, she walked over.
It wasn’t worth saying much. Judging by the man’s demeanor, it seemed he wasn’t meeting anyone particularly important.
Just as Xie Yanzhao was about to knock, as if by mutual understanding, the door opened from the inside.
Ruan Mingfu looked through her pretty peach blossom eyes, curious.
Inside stood a woman in her forties or fifties, plump, wearing a slightly worn blue coat. Her hair was neatly done, suggesting she was someone who cared about appearances. She wore an apron around her waist and held a cloth, presumably a family maid.
Ruan Mingfu wasn’t naive.
In these times, hiring a maid was not something ordinary people could afford.
The man hadn’t even told her who these people were but brought her here. Was he planning to make her offend someone?
The woman’s face lit up with surprise upon seeing Xie Yanzhao. “Young Master has arrived! Come in quickly. The Chief and Madam are waiting for you. Hurry in!”
“This is Aunt Liu, and this is Comrade Ruan.”
Xie Yanzhao cleared his throat and started looking away.
Ruan Mingfu was taken aback.
What kind of family was this?
Calling someone “the Chief and Madam”?
Aunt Liu was clearly very close to Xie Yanzhao, like an elder who had watched him grow up.
Aunt Liu seemed surprised and then turned her gaze to Ruan Mingfu. Her smile widened. “Such a spirited young lady, come in… come in.”
“Aunt Liu,” Ruan Mingfu, still unsure of the situation, could only manage a polite smile.
Damn that man, she would make sure to deal with him when they got back!
