Chapter 68 Wen Yi Banquet

As the days passed by, soon it was time for Yi’s banquet.

From early in the morning, the mansion became lively.

Although Mrs. Shu only invited relatives and friends, there were still many uninvited guests who came to share the joy.

On such a joyous day, Mrs. Shu couldn’t bring herself to turn people away. Fortunately, there were slightly more preparations in terms of food and seating, so there was no chaos.

Shu Yuting had returned to the Shu Mansion early to help Mrs. Shu with the preparations.

Mrs. Shu was very relieved, mainly because she had been busy lately. Yuwans was about to get married in just over two months, she still had to take care of Wen Yi, Zhou  was expected to give birth in another month or so, and Tang  was still in confinement. There were a lot of things to do, but there was no one to help.

Shu Yuting’s eyes sparkled, “Mother, there are so many people in the mansion today.”

Originally, when she married into the Yongchang Marquis’s mansion, both her sisters-in-law came from better backgrounds, and she was not one to bow her head. Her mother-in-law was a serious person, and over the years, her life had been okay, but not as good as it seemed.

But now, things were different. Look at all the people who came to the Shu today, many of them had higher status than her in-laws, and her maternal family had changed a lot.

From now on, she could hold her head high and live proudly in the Yongchang Marquis’s mansion.

Mrs. Shu frowned, “Yuwans is about to get married, and I didn’t want to have this  banquet originally, for fear of causing trouble. But I also didn’t want to disappoint Wen Yi, and there are still your younger siblings behind, we can’t keep avoiding things like this, so let’s just go with the flow.”

“What’s the big deal? Sister marrying into the Palace was destined by Master Liao kong, it’s not a bad thing. Why can’t people see that?” Shu Yuting objected.

Mrs. Shu understood her daughter’s thoughts and reassured her, “You silly girl, even if Yuwans marries into the Palace, as long as we keep a low profile, others won’t look down on our family.”

Upon hearing her mother’s words, Shu Yuting found them reasonable.

Mrs. Shu couldn’t help but add, “Although Lady Zheng is a bit strict, she has a good heart, and Changping is also someone who knows when to advance and retreat. As for you, as long as you live honestly, keep a calm mindset, and live your life peacefully, there’s nothing difficult. You don’t have to compete with others for status. As long as the family is healthy, safe, and smooth, that’s enough.”

Listening to her mother’s advice again, Shu Yuting protested unhappily, “Mother~~”

Mrs. Shu chuckled, “Alright, alright, I won’t lecture you.”

“After all, as long as I’m alive, this will always be your home. You can come back whenever you want.”

Shu Yuting’s eyes were slightly red, holding back her tears, “Pfft, pfft, pfft, it’s Yi’s big day, why talk nonsense.”

Shu Yuwans finished preparing the morning meal with Wenyue before coming over.

Mrs. Shu saw her younger daughter also arrive, even more delighted. All of your siblings are here except this younger daughter.”

“Things are almost ready here, why don’t you all go see Wen Yi?” Mrs. Shu said.

Shu Yuting, Shu Yuwans, and wenyue went to Tang ‘s courtyard.

Tang was leaning on the bed, with a forehead band, looking very well cared for.

Zhou was also there.

When she saw the two, about to get up to greet them, Shu Yuwans quickly stopped her, “Sister-in-law, you’re heavy with child now, don’t be too polite, we’re all family.”

“Elder sister and younger sister are here.” Tang greeted the two, and the maid beside her brought them tea.

“Sisters, don’t rush, we’re just here to see Yi.” Shu Yuting said, taking out a pure gold longevity lock and placing it next to Yi’s cradle.

Shu Yuwans glanced at it, finely crafted and looking very expensive.

“Thank you, elder sister, for your generosity.” Tang politely thanked her.

Since Shu Yuwans married the Crown Prince, Shu Yuting had become more polite. Not only did she give gifts to her nephews and nieces, but this time she also brought out a valuable longevity lock, a treatment that Qing Ge had never received before.

Tang observed without showing excessive warmth towards Shu Yuting.

Zhou felt even more uncomfortable.

When she gave birth to her daughter, this elder sister-in-law only gave a pair of earrings, and her daughter was the eldest!

But she also knew that the elder sister-in-law was not interested in Yi, but rather in the wealth and status that Yuwans had acquired, and she was starting to care more about her maternal family.

Thinking about it, she stopped caring. After all, her child in her belly would also benefit from it in the future.

Qing was also there, amusing his sister.

“Second younger sister, the child in your belly must also be blessed.”

Shu Yuting had never been close to her two younger siblings, but now she suddenly became affectionate. Strangely, she’s betrothed to someone from Longxi, the Marquis’s ancestral home.”

Zhou  was surprised, “How could the legitimate daughter of the Xiangyang Marquis’s mansion be betrothed to such a remote place? Didn’t they say that the Marquis’s wife dotes on this daughter?”

Shu Yuting shook her head, “I don’t know the details, but I’m afraid something has happened.”

As they chatted, time quickly passed, and it was time for the banquet to begin. Shu Yuting and Shu Yuwans went to the front banquet hall.

Most of the guests had arrived, and the banquet began.

The Tang family’s lady, Yi’s grandmother, presented Yi with an outfit, a hat, a pure gold bracelet, anklets, and other items, while everyone congratulated her.

Midway through the banquet, a servant hurried in, “Madam, the Crown Prince has sent gifts.”

Upon hearing this, everyone turned to look at Shu Yuwans and Wenyue.

Mrs. Shu reacted quickly, “Please come in.”

The visitor was Ah Qing, “Congratulations to Mr. Shu, Mrs. Shu, Young Master Shu, and Young Madam, the Crown Prince heard that Young Master Shu daughter is celebrating her banguet, so he specially prepared a small gift to wish the little lady peace and prosperity.”

Mrs. Shu gestured for the maid next to Tang to receive the gift and politely said, “Thank you, sir, for your trouble in coming. Sit down and have a drink.”

Ah Qing declined, “Thank you for your kindness, Madam. The Crown Prince is waiting for me to deliver his message, so I won’t disturb you any longer.”

After speaking, he bowed towards Shu Yuwans before leaving.

Seeing this, Tang ‘s lady laughed teasingly, “This Ah Qing sir is a favorite of the Crown Prince. His attitude indicates the Crown Prince’s attitude. Look, he had to bow to the future mistress before leaving.”

Seeing this, everyone started joking around.

Around Shu Yuwans,  Wenyue, and Yi, the atmosphere was lively.

Shu Yuwans managed the situation, afraid of stealing Yi’s spotlight, so she quickly found an excuse and took  Wenyue to leave.

In the crowd, a figure saw Shu Yuwans leave and quietly followed suit.
