Chapter 32 Shopping
Before even reaching the bottom of the stairs, Jiang Xingman couldn’t help but exclaim to Mu Hongtao and Mu Jingchen, who were sitting on the sofa, “You wouldn’t believe how amazing our Wanwan is!”
Her voice was filled with uncontrollable excitement and pride, and she walked briskly towards the sofa, detailing the acupuncture process Mu Xiwan had performed on her and her current physical condition.
After listening, Mu Hongtao and Mu Jingchen’s eyes also lit up with surprise and admiration. They looked at Mu Xiwan, showering her with a barrage of praise. This made Mu Xiwan feel a little embarrassed, because in her opinion, the acupuncture she performed on Jiang Xingman was just the simplest and most basic technique she had learned.
After chatting for a while, Mu Hongtao checked the time and said to Jiang Xingman and Mu Xiwan, “While you were upstairs, I already called Manxianglou and made a reservation. Let’s head over now.”
“Mom, Wanwan, let’s go. We can only eat at Manxianglou today because of Dad’s influence. Usually, it’s very difficult to book a table,” Mu Jingchen said as he grabbed the car keys from the coffee table.
“Okay, let’s go now. Wanwan, you must be hungry. You were sweating during the acupuncture,” Jiang Xingman said with concern, remembering the scene of Mu Xiwan treating her. She gently took Mu Xiwan’s hand, her eyes full of care and affection.
“I’m okay,” Mu Xiwan smiled, looking at Jiang Xingman’s worried gaze. Her smile was like a warm spring sun, warm and bright.

After that, the four of them got in the car and headed towards Manxianglou.
When they arrived at Manxianglou, Mu Hongtao ordered a few of their signature dishes and then asked Jiang Xingman and Mu Xiwan to order a few dishes they liked.
The four of them enjoyed their meal. Jiang Xingman gently put down her chopsticks, a hint of regret in her eyes. She slowly said, “It’s just that Jingyu isn’t here. Husband, call Jingyu later and tell him to come back soon.”
After giving instructions to Mu Hongtao, Jiang Xingman turned to Mu Xiwan and said, “Wanwan, Jingyu is your second brother. He’s a celebrity, always either on set or running around for promotional events. Your dad and I barely see him a few times a year.”
Although Jiang Xingman complained, Mu Xiwan could tell that she didn’t dislike her second brother’s profession.
It seemed like her biological parents were really open-minded and easy-going. Mu Xiwan, probably because of the delicious lunch, was in a very happy mood.
At this moment, Mu Hongtao received a phone call. After hanging up, he apologized to the three of them and said, “I have to go to the company, but it won’t be long. How about you guys go home and wait for me? I’ll come back after I’m done, and then we’ll go to the old house together.”
Jiang Xingman nodded in agreement, “Okay, we’ll wait for you at the old house. You go to the company first. I’ll let Jingchen take us to the mall. I want to go shopping with Wanwan.”
Since marrying Mu Hongtao, Jiang Xingman had always wanted a daughter. However, her first two children were sons. So when she found out that her third child was a girl, she spent her days thinking about how she would dress up her soft and cuddly daughter after she was born.
But fate had other plans, and she had to wait eighteen years for this wish to come true. Thankfully, Jiang Xingman now wanted to make up for all the lost motherly love in those eighteen years.
After parting ways with Mu Hongtao, Jiang Xingman and Mu Jingchen began to pick out clothes for Mu Xiwan. No matter how Mu Xiwan refused, they would ask the sales assistant to wrap up anything that looked good and fit her.
Mu Xiwan was stunned by her mother and brother’s generosity. These clothes were too expensive, and she didn’t care much about clothing. As long as they were comfortable, that was enough.
Seeing Jiang Xingman and Mu Jingchen still picking out clothes, Mu Xiwan quickly stepped forward to stop them again, “Mom, Big Brother, you’ve picked out too many clothes. How can I possibly wear them all?”
“Wanwan, how can this be too many? Listen, don’t worry about anything today. Just leave everything to Mom and me,” Mu Jingchen said.
As soon as Mu Jingchen finished speaking, Jiang Xingman smiled and said, “Wanwan, are you tired? If you are, just sit down and rest for a while. We’ll be quick.”
And by “quick,” Jiang Xingman probably meant the selection of clothes. After buying clothes for Mu Xiwan, they moved on to shoes, hats, and evening gowns.
Jiang Xingman thought that since her daughter had returned, she should not only hold a welcome banquet for her but also take Wanwan to various banquets and gatherings in the future. Evening gowns were essential for such occasions.
So, Jiang Xingman decided to have a few custom-made for her daughter first, and then when she had time, she would personally design some gowns for her.
——-
The three of them stayed at the mall until Mu Hongtao called. Jiang Xingman and Mu Jingchen were still helping Mu Xiwan choose clothes.
It was convenient not to go home, so they discussed it and decided to go directly back to the old house from the mall. Jiang Xingman asked the staff at the mall to deliver the clothes they had chosen to the old house.
After all, the old man wanted Mu Xiwan to move back to the old house, and Jiang Xingman also wanted to live with her daughter, so they discussed it with Mu Xiwan and decided to move back to the old house. After all, every country has its laws, and every family has its rules. The Mu family hadn’t split up, so it was only natural to live in the old house.
Mu Xiwan had no objections. She didn’t know how the other members of the Mu family would treat her, but she was bound to them by blood, a fact she couldn’t escape.
If they were good to her, she would be good to them in return. If they were not, then she wouldn’t be a pushover. So, she felt that she could live anywhere.
———
Before Mu Hongtao and the others arrived at the old house, the clothes they had chosen for Mu Xiwan were delivered one after another.
The younger generation of the Mu family, who were returning home from school, were surprised to see all the clothes.
“Why are there so many clothes? They’re all for girls. Did someone buy them for Xixi?” Mu Jinghan said, without even putting down his schoolbag.
“Did Second Brother or Third Brother buy them for Xixi? Or did Grandma buy them while she was traveling?” Mu Jinghao guessed.
“Fifth Brother, these are bags from Tianmao Department Store in Beijing. It’s the best department store in Beijing. Grandma is traveling, so how could she buy these in Beijing? It must be Second Brother and Third Brother,” Mu Jinghan analyzed the goods and said.
Chu Yunxi, seeing the gifts piled up in the living room, was also puzzled. Who would buy these for her? A glimmer of expectation flashed in her eyes.
Moreover, her walk-in closet was already full. Where would she put these clothes? After all, every season, she would discard her old clothes, and then her walk-in closet would be filled with new clothes again.
She would give some of the clothes she didn’t wear to her sycophantic friends, and some she would send to the Chu family, provoking envy from her cousins.
