From Cradle to Courtroom Chapter 78

Chapter 78 Familiar with the Palace

The next day.

Early in the morning, Shu Yuwans woke up, feeling sore all over, but she couldn’t afford to sleep in today~

Although the Empress Xiaoxian was no longer there, she didn’t have a formal mother-in-law to bow to, but she had to serve tea to the Emperor and visit various palaces~

The Crown Prince had already gotten up and asked Ah Qing to help Shu Yuwans get ready.

Shu Yuwans apologized, “Your Highness, I overslept~”

The Crown Prince smiled, “No blame me, It’s not your fault.”

At his words, Shu Yuwans blushed again~

“If you haven’t slept well, you can rest a bit more, it’s not a problem, Father won’t mind.”

Shu Yuwans shook her head, she couldn’t afford to sleep anymore~

“Breakfast is ready, so after you finish getting ready, we’ll have breakfast together and then go bow to Father.”

Shu Yuwans agreed, got up, and Qing Dai and Yimei came in to help her get ready.

The Crown Prince had a book in his hand, reading on the side while watching Shu Yuwans get ready.

“Why doesn’t Your Highness go to the study?” Shu Yuwans asked, as she still needed some time to get ready.

“I’ll just stay here.”

Yimei tried hard to hold back her laughter and didn’t dare to joke.

Qing Dai, on the other hand, remained calm as usual~

The Crown Prince kept staring at Shu Yuwans as he read, the book in his hand becoming more of a decoration~

Seeing Shu Yuwans tense up, he simply put down the book and started talking to her, “By the way, that Zhao Qing Qing, I’ve already caught her~”

Shu Yuwans was unaware, “Your Highness where did you find Zhao Qing Qing?”

The Crown Prince chuckled, “Upon receiving your information, I had people watch the Peng Mansion. This Zhao Qing Qing disguised herself as a maid and followed Mrs. Peng out, and the people I sent caught her~”

Shu Yuwans had many questions in her mind, but it wasn’t the right time to ask.

“After the morning court, Your Highness, take me to see Zhao Qing Qing. I have some questions and want to ask her in person~”

The Crown Prince thought it was about An Shaoyu’s matter. Although An Shaoyu was already dead, seeing Shu Yuwans still concerned, he found it a bit strange. But he still said, “Alright.”

Once Shu Yuwans finished getting ready.

The two of them went to have breakfast together.

The breakfast in the Palace was very sumptuous, and most of it was surprisingly what Shu Yuwans loved to eat, which made her a bit surprised, “How does Your Highness know my taste~”

“Of course, I consulted with Big Brother~” The Crown Prince looked pleased with himself~

Shu Yuwans didn’t expect the Crown Prince to have this side to him, and the emotions she had been holding back inadvertently eased a bit~

“Your Highness, thank you for your thoughtfulness.”

The Crown Prince was very pleased to hear that.

After they finished eating, they went to the Chengqian Palace together.

Hong Gonggong came out to greet them, smiling, “Your Highness, the Emperor invites you in.”

The two entered hand in hand.

The Emperor, seeing their affectionate appearance, couldn’t believe that by some twist of fate, Jin Er had actually married a Consort that he truly liked.

The two knelt down together, “Greetings to the Emperor.”

The Emperor nodded, and Hong Gonggong brought a tray. Shu Yuwans took a cup of tea from it and handed it to the Emperor, “Please have some tea, Father Emperor~”

The Emperor took it and drank, “I finally get to drink this daughter-in-law’s tea.”

Shu Yuwans couldn’t help but smile.

It seemed that the Emperor, like any ordinary father, was concerned about his son’s marriage~

Seeing Shu Yuwans’ bright and dignified appearance, the Emperor’s lingering concern about the Crown Prince’s Consort being a widow finally dissipated.

In his heart, the Emperor thought: The only flaw in the Crown Prince’s Consort is her slightly lower family background, but it’s not a big deal. Shu Jin Yi abilities are sufficient, and he has been serving as a Household Ministry official for many years. In a couple of years, when the position of Household Ministry Secretary becomes vacant, Shu Jinyi can take over~

He said, “Yuwans, in the future, be affectionate with the Crown Prince, support each other, understand?”

Shu Yuwans respectfully replied, “Yes Your Majesty I will remember.”

The Emperor then said to the Crown Prince, ” Jin Er, no matter when, the Crown Princess is the legitimate wife of the Crown Prince. You must always respect and cherish her, understand?”

“Yes you Majesty, I will!”

The Emperor nodded in satisfaction, gesturing to Hong Gonggong, who handed a red envelope to Shu Yuwans, saying, “This is something left by the Empress Xiaoxian, and it will be handed over to you from now on.”

“Thank you, Father Emperor~”

The two came out of the Chengqian Palace, returned to the Palace for a short rest, and then continued to visit the Hui Consort and Ning Consort’s palaces. Since the Empress Dowager was no longer there, there were only a few consorts in the palace who needed to be visited.

After a simple tea-drinking ceremony and exchanging red envelopes, the visits were concluded.

After visiting the consorts, they went to see the Emperor’s Shu Consort, Xian Consort, and others. Zhang Consort, due to still being under house arrest, did not receive visitors.

Shu Consort, although not very willing to see the Crown Prince, did not dare to cause trouble after the Crown Prince’s marriage. After a brief tea-drinking session, she excused herself, claiming to feel unwell, and sent the couple away.

The situation was different with Xian Consort.

Xian Consort was very enthusiastic, with a loving smile, “Crown Princess is truly charming and likable.”

The Fifth Prince was also present, seeming like a younger brother who greatly cherished his sister-in-law, “I finally have an imperial sister-in-law~”

The Crown Prince and Crown Princess remained composed, accompanying Xian Consort and her son in a harmonious and respectful manner.

After leaving Xian Consort’s palace, the day finally came to an end, and the couple smiled at each other.

“We don’t need to specially visit those below the Consort rank. We will naturally see them at palace banquets and other events in the future,” the Crown Prince said.

“What should we do tomorrow?” Shu Yuwans asked.

“Rest well tomorrow, and accompany me in the palace~” The Crown Prince suddenly spoke in a gentle tone.

Shu Yuwans blushed, not sure what he meant.

After returning to the Palace, the Crown Prince went to the study, while Shu Yuwans rested in the courtyard.

The evening comes, and the couple had dinner together without any interruptions.

During this time, no one came to serve her tea, which made her a bit curious. After all, An Shaoyu had several concubines before.

After hesitating for a while, she finally asked, “Your Highness, are there no palace maids serving in the palace?”

The Crown Prince smiled faintly, “No.”

Shu Yuwans was even more puzzled. After all, the Crown Prince was not young, and even if he didn’t have concubines, there should be palace maids in the inner quarters.

“Well, um…” Shu Yuwans hesitated to ask further.

“Are you wondering about the palace maids in the inner quarters?”

Shu Yuwans nodded slightly, feeling that according to the rules, these people should come to serve tea to the Crown Princess after her entry, and then receive a proper status.

After hesitating for a while, the Crown Prince finally said, “I have not requested any palace maids for the inner quarters, and I have never had any women before, you are my first woman~”

Shu Yuwans was surprised, her mouth slightly agape!

She didn’t want to show her surprise so clearly, but obviously, her expression was beyond her control~

“Your Highness, can, can…”

“I have never had any women before, you are my first woman~”

“Although I was still young at that time, since I promised my mother before she passed away, I would only marry one wife and not take concubines~”

“I promised~”

“Although I was young at that time, I must keep this promise!”
