After the Millennium Flower Demon Villainess Awakens
After the Millennium Flower Demon Villainess Awakens Chapter 42

Chapter 42

The engagement banquet for the youngest son was successfully completed, and Fang Qiuci was preparing to return to flower Market.

Before leaving, she handed her son some jewelry boxes privately.

Wei Shian was puzzled, “What’s this?”

“It’s the eight pieces of gold for your wedding. Don’t worry, your elder brother also had them when your sister-in-law married him,” Fang Qiuci, who was always anxious, had started preparing these ever since she saw a photo of her future daughter-in-law. She thought they might come in handy for the proposal.

“Thank you, Mom.” Wei Shian hadn’t expected his mother to prepare these things, and he felt a warmth in his heart.

Fang Qiuci’s eyes were full of affection. “Why are you thanking me? Open them and have a look.”

Wei Shian lowered his head and opened the boxes one by one.

When he got to the gold ring, he said honestly, “This one doesn’t look very nice. I was planning to take Peony to Shanghai to buy one.”

Fang Qiuci picked up one of the small boxes and handed it to him. “Take a look at this first.”

Following her instruction, Wei Shian opened it. Inside was a sparkling pink stone. He looked up and asked, “Is this a pink diamond?”

“Yes, Peony likes pink, so I brought this pink diamond back from abroad a few years ago. Use this to make the wedding ring. The engagement ring you prepared was too plain. It’s a good thing my daughter-in-law and in-laws are kind-hearted.”

Wei Shian touched his nose, wanting to say that it was the style Peony liked, but instead, he asked, “Are you saying this pink diamond is very expensive?”

He knew diamonds were valuable, but he had no idea about the price of pink diamonds.

Seeing her son carelessly holding the pink diamond between his fingers, Fang Qiuci couldn’t help but roll her eyes. “Be careful with that—it cost me nearly eight figures!”

“How much?” Even someone as usually composed as Wei Shian was shocked enough by the price to make his hand tremble.

Fang Qiuci repeated, “You heard me right. It was just shy of eight figures. Give the diamond to Peony and let her design it herself. Don’t waste it with your taste.”

Wei Shian was speechless.

At dinner.

All the relatives had left, leaving just the family.

At that moment, Lu Jun took out two red booklets and slapped them on the table.

Looking at the bold words “Marriage Certificate” on them, Fang Wenyi took a while to react. When she did, her eyebrows shot up, “You little brat, you—”

“Mom, mind your gentle image. Your younger son-in-law is still here. Don’t scare him off.”

Fang Wenyi was momentarily stunned, instinctively glancing at Wei Shian, unsure whether to reprimand or stay silent. She found herself stuck in an awkward position.

Lu Pengfei patted his wife’s back, and after she calmed down, he looked disapprovingly at Han Fengming, “Jun Jun is headstrong, but why did you go along with this nonsense?”

To Han Fengming, his in-laws were not just parents but benefactors. He never wanted to do anything that would disappoint them.

But… Jun Jun was different, especially when it came to marriage.

How could he refuse her?

With this in mind, Han Fengming stood up, ready to kneel and apologize, but was quickly pulled back.

He turned to see Lu Jun still calm as ever, “Dad, Mom, you know how busy Fengming and I are. Like right now, I have to return to flower Market after dinner, and Fengming has plans later too. Getting the marriage certificate directly seemed like the best choice.”

Lu Pengfei and Fang Wenyi weren’t unreasonable people; in fact, they were quite open-minded. But most people followed traditional steps when it came to marriage, and their daughter had skipped straight to the end.

Fang Wenyi massaged her temples, feeling a headache coming on, “Fengming, sit down first.”

Han Fengming sat back down beside his wife and adjusted his glasses, “Uncle, Aunt, it’s my fault. I was the one who rushed the marriage.”

Although she was upset that the children had acted without telling them, Fang Wenyi was still very fond of Fengming. She immediately teased with mock anger, “You’ve already got the certificate, and you’re still calling us Uncle and Aunt?”

It had been over twenty years since he last called someone by these titles. Han Fengming clenched his fists to hide his excitement and nervousness, and after several tries, he finally managed to say, “Dad, Mom!”

“Ah!” The tremor in his voice made it clear how emotional he was. At this, any lingering frustration vanished, and both Lu Pengfei and Fang Wenyi responded warmly before pulling out a wallet and handing over a card, “Here’s your name-change gift.”

Han Fengming stood up and accepted it with both hands, “Thank you, Dad and Mom.”

Fang Wenyi, smiling, teased him further, “Don’t go crying now. Sit down and eat.”

Initially, Han Fengming had been on the verge of tears, but now he managed a rare smile, melting like snow in spring.

Seeing this, Fang Wenyi felt even more affectionate. After all, he was practically family now. Still, she needed to clarify something, “Are you not going to have a wedding?”

Han Fengming wanted to have one, but he looked to his wife, leaving the decision up to her.

Lu Jun wasn’t keen on it. Her work consumed almost all of her time.

But Fengming and her parents clearly wanted a wedding, so she compromised, “Alright, but I won’t have time to plan it.”

Han Fengming’s eyes lit up, “I’ll take care of it.”

Fang Wenyi beamed, “I’ll help too.”

Lu Jun added another condition, “It doesn’t need to be too grand. Just family will do.”

Han Fengming quickly agreed, “Whatever you want.”

Lu Jun had one last stipulation, “The wedding must be within a month.”

Han Fengming agreed without hesitation. As long as she was willing to have a wedding, anything was fine.

But Fang Wenyi was less enthusiastic, “You’ve already got the certificate. Why the rush?”

Lu Jun pulled out another piece of paper from her pocket and slapped it on the table, “Oh, I just don’t want my belly to grow too much before the wedding—might not look good in a wedding dress.”

Lu Pengfei/Fang Wenyi/Lu Jun/Han Fengming: “What?!!”

The four of them shouted in unison, and three of them immediately turned to the culprit, asking in unison again, “You didn’t know either?”

Han Fengming really didn’t know. With trembling hands, he took the paper and, although he didn’t understand most of the medical jargon, he could clearly see the words “8 weeks pregnant”: “You… you’re really 2 months pregnant?”

Lu Jun remained calm, continuing to eat her meal. “Yes.”

Fang Wenyi didn’t oppose the intimacy between the young couple, but at the very least, they should have taken precautions. After all, in today’s society, being pregnant before marriage could still draw criticism.

Thinking of this, she put down her chopsticks with a “clack” and said with a stern face, “You two, follow me to the study.” Although the situation was now unavoidable, they still needed a scolding.

Han Fengming immediately wiped the joy off his face, helped his wife, and followed his mother-in-law.

Seeing this, Lu Pengfei hesitated for a few seconds, gave his younger daughter and son-in-law a meaningful look, and then put down his chopsticks, saying, “I’ll go up and take a look too. You all continue eating.”

Shocked by the sudden turn of events, Lu Jiu asked, “Should we go up and check on them?”

Feeling somewhat implicated by his future father-in-law and caught in undeserved trouble, Wei Shian replied with a blank expression, “No.”

Lu Jiu continued to look upstairs, “I’m kind of curious about what’s going on.”

“But I’m not.”

“Why not?”

“Because I’m jealous.”

After dinner.

Worried that Lu Jun might not be reliable, the four of them all went to the hospital.

Actually, Lu Jiu wanted to go too—after all, it was her sister and Brother Fengming’s baby!

But since her fiancé’s leg injury hadn’t healed yet, she couldn’t just leave him alone.

So, the newly engaged couple went for a walk in the glasshouse.

Without the presence of the annoying and envy-inducing brother-in-law, Wei Shian felt much better. He took out a velvet box from his pocket.

Although his mother had arranged for the wedding ring, he had mixed and awkward feelings about it.

But seeing how Peony’s eyes lit up with joy when she opened the box, Wei Shian felt it wasn’t so bad after all. He smiled, “You really like it?”

Lu Jiu’s eyes, already bright, sparkled even more with the rich pink of the stone. She admitted, “I really like it. It’s so beautiful.”

The Lu family’s rise to wealth was fairly recent.

Moreover, her parents had intentionally kept things modest, so until she graduated from college, Lu Jiu’s life wasn’t much different from that of an ordinary student.

After graduating, her mother did prepare a lot of jewelry for her.

But, as Mrs. Fang Wenyi had a particular fondness for jade and emeralds, most of the jewelry she gave Lu Jiu was made of these materials.

As for Lu Jiu herself, she would buy things that she liked, even if they were inexpensive, without being overly concerned about luxury.

Of course, her family had also taken her to a jewelry auction once to broaden her horizons.

She didn’t enjoy it and never went again.

So, in reality, her knowledge of jade and emeralds was superficial.

As for diamonds, she knew even less.

Especially pink diamonds—she had never even seen one in real life.

She never expected it to be such a bright and sparkling pink, and she had no resistance to it.

Seeing his fiancée so captivated, Wei Shian laughed and pulled her to sit on a nearby rattan chair, “My mom says my taste isn’t great, so rather than ruining something nice, she suggested you design it yourself according to your preferences.”

“Your taste isn’t bad.” This wasn’t just flattery; Lu Jiu genuinely thought so. But after saying it, she realized something: “I get to design it myself?”

Wei Shian couldn’t help but laugh, rubbing her head, “Yes, you design it yourself. I don’t know anything about these things, especially the shiny ones you like.”

Of course, what he really didn’t understand was why such a small stone could cost nearly eight figures.

“Is it really expensive?” Women tend to be more sensitive to jewelry than men. Lu Jiu carefully put the loose diamond back in the box, curious now.

Wei Shian had been planning to keep quiet, but since his fiancée asked, he didn’t want to hide it.

So, with the small box in her hands, Lu Jiu was shocked: “It’s that expensive?” Such a tiny thing was worth as much as five or six sports cars?

“Seems like I’m not the only one who finds the price outrageous.”

But Lu Jiu really liked it, and in the end, she said, “I’ll give Auntie a call later to thank her properly… I’ll design it carefully, but once it’s done, I’ll only wear it at home.” It’s so beautiful—if she lost it, she’d be heartbroken.

With his occupational mindset, Wei Shian agreed wholeheartedly, “Yes, it’s safer to wear it at home.” If she encountered a knowledgeable thief, it would be too dangerous.

And so, the couple, whose thoughts were completely out of sync, happily reached a mutual understanding.

“Since we have the ring, we don’t need to go to Magic City Shian, how about this? Let’s go to Flower Market tomorrow and meet your elders.” Since they were already engaged, it wouldn’t be proper to delay visiting her fiancé’s family.

Wei Shian pulled her onto his good leg, his voice deep, “What did you just call me?”

Lu Jiu blinked, realizing that the term of address was the focus?
