Chapter 110  Lianzhi Acknowledges Kinship

At this point, the Chief of the Ji Temple had nothing to hide. They had kept the truth from Lianzhi before to prevent her discomfort.

The Chief of the Ji Temple said, “Lianzhi, in reality, you were found by your mother.”

Upon hearing this, Lianzhi’s eyes widened.

Madam Ji quickly added, “But in your mother’s heart, you are her biological daughter.”

Lianzhi looked at her mother and then at her father.

Her father continued, “The jade pendant you had since you were a child wasn’t a family heirloom. It was placed on you when you were found.”

“A few days ago, the Crown Prince sent someone to inquire about the origin of your jade pendant. This time, your summons to the Palace is likely related to your lineage.”

After hearing her father’s words, Lianzhi was stunned for a while.

She was still processing the fact that she wasn’t her parents’ biological child!

Her parents and grandmother loved her so much; how could she not be their biological child?

Seeing Lianzhi in a daze, Madam Ji called out, “Lianzhi?”

“Mother.”

“Don’t be afraid. The Crown Prince is summoning you to the Palace to inquire about your lineage. We don’t know who your biological parents are, so just tell them what you know.”

Lianzhi nodded stiffly.

The next day, the Crown Prince sent someone to bring Lianzhi to the Palace.

Since Shu Yuwan had completed her confinement, she also came along. She still liked Lianzhi and wanted to support her.

The Crown Prince and Shu Yuwan sat at the head of the room.

Seated below was Mrs. Luo, the wife of the Duke of Wei.

Behind Mrs. Luo’s elegant and noble appearance, there was a hint of impatience.

The Crown Prince sent a letter to the Duke of Wei’s residence, stating that upon seeing the jade pendant bestowed by the late Empress Xiaoxian to Wuyou years ago, Mrs. Luo became anxious. For so many year she still worried about her missing daughter Woyou.

Shu Yuwan comforted, “Aunt, please don’t worry. She will arrive soon.”

Having not interacted much with Mrs. Luo before, Shu Yuwan had only seen her briefly after marrying the Crown Prince. Upon closer observation, she felt that Lianzhi was indeed the young lady from the Duke of Wei’s residence.

Just then, Ah Qing entered and reported, “Your Highness, Miss Lianzhi has arrived.”

The Crown Prince nodded, “Please let her in.”

Lady Luo restrained herself and stood up, resisting the urge to rush to the door and looked straight ahead.

Lianzhi followed the young eunuch into the hall, seeing Shu Yuwan there, she relaxed a bit, bowed her head and greeted, “I have seen the Crown Prince and the Crown Princess.”

Not knowing how to address Mrs. Luo, Shu Yuwan reminded, “This is the Lady of the Duke of Wei.”

Lianzhi quickly said, “I have seen the Lady of the Duke of Wei.”

Mrs. Luo kindly said, “Good child, no need for formalities.”

Seeing the eager look in Mrs. Luo’s eyes, Lianzhi felt a bit uncomfortable and sought help from Shu Yuwan.

Shu Yuwan said, “Lianzhi, the jade pendant you gave me before is identical to the one lost by the second Miss of the Duke of Wei’s family.”

As the Chief of the Ji Temple had speculated before, Lianzhi was somewhat mentally prepared at this moment, but she didn’t expect it to be the second Miss of the Duke of Wei’s residence.

She doubted, “But it’s also possible that someone else placed the jade pendant on me.”

Approaching, Mrs. Luo took Lianzhi’s hand, wanting to embrace her and cry, but she was afraid of startling Lianzhi, so she just looked at her with mixed emotions.

“And look, how much we resemble each other. Your eyes and nose are like mine, your face shape and mouth are just like the Duke of Wei.”

Lianzhi looked at Shu Yuwan, who nodded, “It’s quite similar.”

The Crown Prince added, “Indeed, there is some resemblance to Uncle.”

Although Mrs. Luo insisted on taking Lianzhi back to the Duke of Wei’s residence, Lianzhi insisted on returning home.

In the end, Mrs. Luo nodded and said, “Alright, when I return, I will inform the Duke and your siblings. They will be very happy to know!”

“I will come to pick you up when the time comes.”
