After the Millennium Flower Demon Villainess Awakens Chapter 50

Chapter 50

As soon as his future brother-in-law left, Wei Shian led his girlfriend to the table. “Come on, eat up. Weren’t you hungry? I’ll take you home after dinner.”

Lu Jiu replied, “No need. I’ll drive myself home.”

Wei Shian picked up a pair of chopsticks, carefully wiped them with a napkin, and then handed them to her. “Are you sure you’re not scared?”

Lu Jiu took the chopsticks with a bit of pride, “I’m really not scared. That guy couldn’t beat me.”

Seeing her so lively and recalling how, during the statement, she cleverly pretended to be frightened to lower the criminal’s guard…

Wei Shian finally allowed a smile to show in his eyes. He reached out, gently pinching her soft fingertips. “Our Peony is really smart.”

Lu Jiu… What kind of tone is that? Like he’s talking to a child?

—

After all the commotion,

it was already past 9 PM when Lu Jiu got home.

Knowing her mother would be going to bed soon, Lu Jiu decided to wait until tomorrow to talk about the robbery.

Returning to her bedroom, she first sent texts to her boyfriend and Fengming, then headed to the bathroom.

By the time she finished washing up, another hour had passed.

In the quiet of the night, certain thoughts she couldn’t control resurfaced.

After a while, Lu Jiu raised her hand, holding it up.

It was as if the warmth of his touch still lingered on her fingertips, and her mind was full of the image of him kissing her fingers.

It was too overwhelming. She covered her warm face with her hands, embarrassedly rolling over once in bed.

“Meow~” Her little kitten climbed onto her.

Lu Jiu held it with one hand while picking up her phone with the other to message her best friend: Are you awake? I’m feeling a little excited… Today, I held hands with my officer, and he even kissed me.

Fang Jingjing was thrilled, too excited to text back, so she called directly. “Ahhh~ Girl, you’ve really stepped up! Tell me, what’s it like kissing? Is it really like they describe in novels?”

Lu Jiu petted her cat, Marshmallow, which was nuzzling her belly. “We didn’t kiss.”

“You said he kissed you, though? Was it just on the cheek? Is your officer really that pure?”

Lu Jiu decided not to hide the robbery from her best friend and also wanted to give her a warning: “Something happened… when I was leaving work…”

After hearing the story, Fang Jingjing was both shocked and scared, no longer in the mood to tease. “That was so dangerous! Did the robber target you on purpose?”

“Yeah, Wei Shian’s colleagues interrogated him. He’d been watching for days, knowing my shop handles a lot of cash.”

Fang Jingjing grew more concerned. “That’s so brazen. What will you do from now on?”

“Don’t worry. I’ll try not to carry a bag to and from work and will deposit money during the day… not at regular times.”

Fang Jingjing suggested, “If it gets too bad, maybe you should only deposit once a week. That way, it’s only four times a month, and if you don’t stick to a schedule and have someone with you, it should be much safer.”

Lu Jiu agreed, “That’s what I was thinking too… Anyway, enough about that. If you’re free tomorrow, come by the shop.”

“Why? Didn’t you say it’s not busy?”

Lu Jiu explained, “After what happened today, Wei Shian’s colleagues were really helpful. I thought I’d treat them to some milk tea, but I’d feel awkward going alone. Will you come with me?” Even though it was their job, their concern and kindness were genuine.

“Of course. I’ll come early tomorrow,” Fang Jingjing agreed immediately.

Chapter 25

Another beautiful day.

Early in the morning, Lu Jiu admired herself in the mirror before grabbing Marshmallow. Humming a tune, she descended the spiral staircase with a spring in her step.

However, as she reached the last few steps, the housekeeper, who was bringing breakfast from the kitchen, gave her a look that seemed to say, “Good luck.”

Lu Jiu felt a chill down her spine, and her light steps suddenly grew heavy. She stood on the stairs, craning her neck to peek into the living room.

“What are you sneaking around for?” Fang Wenyi’s voice came, barely masking her anger.

Lu Jiu shrank back, unsure of why her mother was upset, but obediently made her way to the living room.

But as soon as she saw the cold-faced, handsome young man sitting on the sofa, she immediately knew why her mother was angry. She wrinkled her nose in displeasure. “Fengming, didn’t you promise not to tell?”

Wow, not only did he tell, but he also came over first thing in the morning to tattle.

Han Fengming set down his coffee cup and replied calmly, “I only promised not to tell Uncle and Junjun.”

In other words, Fang Wenyi didn’t count.

Lu Jiu was about to retort that she never intended to keep it from the family, so there was no need to tattle so early in the morning…

But her mother didn’t give her a chance. Fang Wenyi, with a stern face, patted the seat next to her. “Stop giving your brother attitude. Come here and explain everything to me.”

God knows, when Fengming mentioned that Peony had encountered an armed robbery this morning, Fang Wenyi was so shocked she nearly fainted.

And here was her reckless daughter, who not only slept soundly through the night but was also singing in the morning. How could she be so fearless?

Lu Jiu, resigned, slumped down beside her mother.

“What are you doing?” Fang Wenyi was just about to scold her fearless daughter when a soft bundle was suddenly shoved into her arms. She had no choice but to quickly cradle the little white fluffball.

Lu Jiu cleared her throat. “Mother’s debts are paid by the daughter. Marshmallow is here to take the blame; feel free to scold her instead.”

“Ugh!” Han Fengming nearly choked on his coffee.

Holding the little white kitten that was meowing in her arms, Fang Wenyi glared at her daughter, though her tone softened noticeably. “You shameless girl…”

Indeed, no one could resist the charm of her family’s Marshmallow. Feeling smug, Lu Jiu quickly seized the opportunity to cling to her mother’s arm and began to sweet-talk her. “Oh, Mom, I’m really fine. Besides, Wei Shian arrived just in time. I didn’t even get a scratch… I wasn’t trying to hide it from you. I was planning to tell you this morning anyway. Please don’t be mad.”

“Go on, go on. Don’t cling to me, you’re not a little kid anymore.” With her ‘granddaughter’ in her arms and her own daughter clinging to her shoulder, Fang Wenyi couldn’t resist and soon broke into a smile.

Seeing this, Lu Jiu shot Fengming a triumphant look.

Han Fengming shook his head with amusement, thinking that while it was easy to appease Auntie, getting through Junjun might not be so simple.
