Chapter 41 : Misunderstanding Pregnancy
This is the kind of atmosphere that a normal family should have.
Unlike her, who has been helping her parents with housework since she could remember, sometimes even taking care of her younger brother and helping out at the shop.
No one has ever treated Mu Qianqian as a child in need of care, her parents have only seen her as a tool.
Mu Qianqian didn’t envy others for having endless money; she envied them for having boundless love.
She wished she had been born into a harmonious and loving family.
If only her parents could have loved her a bit more.
Aunt Liu soon prepared a large spread of dishes and, after finishing, she prepared to head next door.
Mu Qianqian invited her, “Aunt Liu, please stay and eat with us.”
Aunt Liu smiled, “No need, Miss Mu. I still need to video call my daughter. We talk a lot, and I’m afraid we might disturb you.”
She took the remaining ingredients and went next door.
Mu Qianqian and Fu Sichan sat at the dining table, ready to eat.
However, Mu Qianqian had never eaten a hairy crab before and didn’t know how to handle it.
She picked up a crab and took a bite.
“Hmm… this shell is so hard.”
Mu Qianqian’s teeth were almost hurt by the hard shell, and she nearly cut her lips.
Fu Sichan couldn’t help but smile, “You need to remove the shell before you can eat it. Let me help you.”
“No, it’s fine, Mr. I can manage it myself.”
Mu Qianqian thought she could peel the crab shell like she would with shrimp shells.
But the crab shell was as hard as stone, and she couldn’t open it even after trying for a while.
How did this thing even grow?
Fu Sichan’s eyes held a smile, “Let me do it for you.”
Mu Qianqian bit her lip and handed the crab to him.
Fu Sichan usually ate crab meat that was already prepped.
He had a cleanliness obsession and rarely did things himself.
But this time, for Mu Qianqian, this little silly girl, Fu Sichan endured his discomfort and peeled the crab for her.
His fingers were well-defined, long, and clean. Using the crab-cracking tools, he meticulously extracted the crab meat.
If Mu Qianqian’s vision were restored, watching this handsome man elegantly peel the crab would surely be a delightful sight.
Fu Sichan placed all the crab meat and crab roe into Mu Qianqian’s bowl.
“Mr, you’re amazing. How did you manage to open such a hard shell?”
Fu Sichan wiped his fingers with a damp towel.
“I’ll teach you once your eyes are better.”
Mu Qianqian sweetly agreed, “Okay.”
She took a big bite of the crab roe and meat, and the rich, sweet flavor made her eyes widen in amazement.
This was the most delicious thing she had ever eaten.
“It’s so good. Mr, you should try some too.”
She offered a bite to Fu Sichan.
Fu Sichan’s eyes flickered slightly. After a moment of hesitation, he took a bite.
He had never eaten food fed to him by someone else before.
This was the first time.
To his surprise, he didn’t feel the repulsion or aversion he had expected, he accepted it with a calm heart.
Mu Qianqian eagerly asked, “Is it good?”
Fu Sichan actually thought it was average, but he didn’t want to dampen her enthusiasm, so he said sincerely.
“Not bad.”
Afterward, while Mu Qianqian was eating, she occasionally fed Fu Sichan a bite.
Fu Sichan placed the peeled crab meat into her bowl, and she fed him bites in return.
Why didn’t he just eat it himself?
Fu Sichan considered bringing it up, but Mu Qianqian was so engrossed and happy that she didn’t notice.
Never mind, it was rare for her to be so cheerful, so he decided to let it be.
From the conversation Mu Qianqian had with Aunt Liu earlier, Fu Sichan had caught a few snippets.
The young girl had never received much affection from her family and had grown up in harsh conditions.
Despite this, she didn’t harbor resentment or become withdrawn and gloomy. Instead, she had grown into a bright and optimistic person.
Fu Sichan couldn’t help but look at her with new admiration.
During this meal, Mu Qianqian ate a bit more than usual.
She hadn’t listened to today’s class recording yet, so after finishing her meal, she sat at the table to study.
Grandma Fu called Fu Sichan via video, and after just a couple of words, she asked him to bring Mu Qianqian over.
“Let me see Qianqian.”
Fu Sichan sighed, “You were pretending to show concern for me just now, but actually, you wanted to see Qianqian, didn’t you?”
“Why should a grown man like you worry about such things? I’m just afraid you might mistreat Qianqian. I can’t rest easy not seeing her for a few days.”
After all, everyone knew that Fu Sichan’s cold nature made Grandma Fu worry that such a delicate girl as Qianqian might suffer while being around him.
Fu Sichan went to the guest room and knocked on the door.
“Mr, is something wrong?”
“Grandma is on video with me and wants to see you.”
“I’ll be right out.”
Mu Qianqian, who was fond of the kind and gentle Grandma Fu, immediately set aside what she was doing and happily opened the door when she heard that an elder wanted to see her.
Fu Sichan led her to the living room and seated her in front of the computer.
“Grandma, I’ve brought Qianqian for you.”
“You go on and do whatever you need to do. I’ll have a chat with Qianqian.”
As soon as she saw Mu Qianqian, Grandma Fu seemed to forget about her grandson and focused entirely on her.
“Hello, Grandma,” Mu Qianqian greeted softly.
“Oh, Qianqian, come closer so Grandma can see you better.”
Mu Qianqian moved a bit closer.
Although she couldn’t see Grandma Fu on the video, she could hear her voice clearly.
Fu Sichan, meanwhile, handled his work while occasionally glancing up.
Seeing the smile on Mu Qianqian’s face, Fu Sichan couldn’t help but curve his lips into a smile as well.
As Fu Sichan was about to end the video call, Grandma Fu looked delighted.
“Take good care of Qianqian. You need to be attentive these next few months and look after her properly. Our family doesn’t have any of those outdated preferences for sons over daughters. Whether a boy or a girl, they’re all treasures to us.”
“Has something good happened?” Fu Sichan asked, puzzled.
“You’ll find out in a couple of days when you take Qianqian for a check-up at the hospital,” Grandma Fu said mysteriously.
Grandma Fu left him in suspense, and Fu Sichan was left bewildered.
After a while, he saw Mu Qianqian holding her stomach and standing by the table drinking water. Suddenly, an idea struck him, and he understood.
Perhaps it was because she had eaten too much tonight, but since earlier, Mu Qianqian had been frequently touching her own belly.
Moreover, with her improved nutrition recently, her face had become rounder and healthier, making her look quite rosy and well-nourished.
It was easy to mistakenly think… that she was pregnant.
It seemed Grandma had already misunderstood that she was expecting, which was quite a big misconception.
In a few months, if Grandma doesn’t see a great-grandchild, it will likely disappoint her.
Fu Sichan couldn’t help but feel a headache coming on.
What should he do about this?
