Yun Tutu needed a lot of items, so much so that she nearly emptied out two entire counters. To save space, she even left behind some of the packaging.
The load was so large that the sales clerks had to help carry everything outside. When they saw that familiar delivery scooter, they were momentarily stunned but quickly resumed their professional smiles.
To them, it didn’t matter who Yun Tutu was; anyone who helped boost their sales was a valuable customer.
Yun Tutu knew there were secrets hidden in the delivery scooter, so she politely declined their help, asking them to leave the items nearby.
Once the sales clerks had left, she carefully loaded each item into the scooter’s storage. When it was full, she hung the remaining bags on the front of the scooter.
After securing her helmet, she resumed her delivery.
“I don’t understand why we have to go the long way around when we can just cross dimensions directly,” Yun Tutu said, following the now-familiar route that involved several detours.
“It can’t be helped. I can’t just make people disappear into thin air,” Songsong replied confidently. “I only open dimensional portals in places where there are no people around.”
“And what about surveillance cameras?” Yun Tutu asked.
“Heh, I temporarily disable them.”
“…”
Once again, it was Nanny Li who greeted her at the gate. This time, she was even more enthusiastic, and the side gate had been opened well in advance.
“Miss Yun, you’ve finally arrived. Please, come in.” If the young lady weren’t too conspicuous, she would have personally gone out to greet her.
Yun Tutu nodded and followed her inside. This time, she had brought more items and needed to complete the transaction quickly to save Songsong some energy, which she hoped would later be used to upgrade her scooter.
Despite her age, Nanny Li was still agile, leading the way with a quick pace. Soon, they arrived at the familiar courtyard.
However, this time, it wasn’t just Liu Ziqi waiting there; a beautiful woman stood beside her. Judging by her resemblance to Liu Ziqi, Yun Tutu guessed that this must be her mother.
Yun Tutu removed her helmet and nodded at them. Liu Ziqi immediately beamed and rushed over. “Sister Yun, you’re here!”
The sudden change in how she addressed her left Yun Tutu momentarily confused. They had only met once—how did they become so familiar?
Liu Ziqi pretended not to notice Yun Tutu’s surprise and continued cheerfully, “You’ve had a long journey. I’m sorry to trouble you.”
As she spoke, her eyes were glued to the scooter, not just to the storage box but also to the bags hanging at the front. She felt a slight pang of disappointment, as it seemed there weren’t as many items as she had hoped. With so many people to distribute them to, would there be enough?
However, with two successful transactions, there would surely be a third and a fourth. This was just the beginning.
Seeing that their attention was fixed on the scooter, Yun Tutu didn’t waste time. She quickly unloaded the bags and opened the storage box, taking out one item after another.
Lin Xi’s pupils contracted slightly. Unlike her daughter, she wasn’t naive. The box was clearly small, yet Yun Tutu kept pulling out items without stopping.
Lin Xi’s gaze toward Yun Tutu became even more cautious. The fact that only her daughter could see the trading system and that Yun Tutu appeared out of nowhere was a clear indication that something was not normal.
She had heard many ghost stories, but this was unlike anything she had ever encountered.
As she discreetly moved closer, Lin Xi peered into the box. Despite the large number of items already removed, the box still wasn’t empty.
Liu Ziqi, however, didn’t share her mother’s concerns. She was thrilled to see the growing pile of items. This should be enough to satisfy everyone and still have some left over.
“Mother,” Liu Ziqi whispered, tugging at Lin Xi’s sleeve. “Should we prepare some more gold?”
Lin Xi patted her daughter’s hand reassuringly. “Don’t worry. We can use the household’s treasury.”
The items they were acquiring weren’t just for their own personal use. The ones sent to the palace, for instance, would be covered by the family’s funds.
Lin Xi had entered the Marquis’ household with a grand dowry, but she knew that wealth would eventually belong to her children. She was clear on that.
This time, Yun Tutu didn’t need to lift a finger. The Marquis’s wife had brought maids and servants to categorize and count everything. Meanwhile, Liu Ziqi’s four main attendants tended to Yun Tutu, bringing her water, fanning her, and offering snacks—taking care of her every need.
“Sister Yun, I’ve been wanting to contact you for days, but I couldn’t get through. Is there any way to reach you if we need something in the future?” Liu Ziqi asked, sidling up to Yun Tutu. It was part of the plan she and her mother had devised—to strengthen their relationship with her.
If they could keep trading with Yun Tutu, their family’s status as imperial merchants would be even more secure.
“I’m afraid I can’t control that,” Yun Tutu replied. “It depends on how urgently you need something. That’s how we receive the request.” The young lady was generous, and Yun Tutu was eager to do more business.
She was alone in a foreign world, and though she wasn’t without fear, this place seemed relatively stable. Besides, if anyone dared to try anything, Songsong was there to back her up. Who would come out on top was still up for debate.
“No other way?” Liu Ziqi asked, clearly curious about Yun Tutu’s origins. Despite each item costing ten gold coins, even the empty bottles and jars were selling for high prices.
“Not for now,” Songsong’s voice whispered in Yun Tutu’s ear. “Although I’ve marked this dimension, we don’t have the initiative.”
Yun Tutu understood. In the world of delivery, the customer was king. Couriers didn’t make house calls without orders—they only delivered when there was a request.
“Unfortunately, there isn’t,” Yun Tutu reiterated. She thought of the refugee girl, Xiaoya. Her life had likely improved, and she no longer had such needs.
That was a good thing. She could profit while also helping others.
Liu Ziqi had been pampered all her life and had never been refused so directly. A hint of displeasure appeared on her face.
Seeing this, Lin Xi walked over, smiling. “All right, you silly girl. You’ve been longing for your Sister Yun to come, and now you’re acting like a spoiled child. Go and pick out the items you want to keep for yourself.”
“Mother, what do you mean?” Liu Ziqi asked, puzzled. They had entered through the side gate, and everything was under her mother’s control. Could the news still leak out?
Lin Xi smiled knowingly. “There’s no such thing as a secret that won’t get out—it’s just a matter of time.”
She patted Liu Ziqi’s shoulder. “Go on.”
Liu Ziqi’s attention was successfully diverted as she eagerly began selecting her favorite items.
“My daughter is quite headstrong. I hope she hasn’t caused you any trouble,” Lin Xi said, turning to Yun Tutu.
This was Yun Tutu’s first time dealing with a noblewoman. Although Lin Xi’s smile was warm and friendly, Yun Tutu could feel an invisible pressure.
She hadn’t grown up in a noble family, but she had seen enough of the world to know how to respond. “You’re too kind, Madam. Your daughter is innocent and pure.”
To Lin Xi, such a compliment was not necessarily a good thing. A noble young lady shouldn’t be described as “innocent and pure.”
She suspected that her daughter had truly offended Yun Tutu, and that this was a subtle rebuke. Keeping her expression neutral, she continued to smile. “I’ve spoiled her. She’s still young, so if she’s done anything to offend you, I hope you’ll forgive her.”
