Zhang Yaowen immediately realized the other party didn’t recognize him, so he prompted, “This wasn’t really discovered by us. Don’t you remember? We’ve met before, at that antique shop.”
Yun Tutu recalled the encounter after his reminder, “So it was you all, at the entrance of that shop…”
Zhang Yaowen nodded, “What a coincidence.”
“It really is,” Yun Tutu responded with a dry laugh. “At that time, I had just gotten the gold nugget, but I had no money on hand, so I had to sell it…”
Zhang Yaowen felt the situation was getting a bit complicated and knew he couldn’t handle it here. He said, “Wait a moment, I’ll step outside to make a few calls.”
Understanding his intent, Yun Tutu nodded, “If it’s inconvenient, I can let you use this room temporarily.”
“No need, our car is outside,” Zhang Yaowen replied, glancing around the small rented room. It didn’t seem dangerous, but he preferred to handle things on his own turf.
As he left, Zhang Yaowen thoughtfully closed the door behind him.
Once everyone was gone, Yun Tutu patted her chest in relief, “Songsong, it seems I made the right choice. Look at how quickly things are unraveling; your presence is too much for someone like me to handle.”
Songsong remained silent, unable to grasp the connection. It thought, isn’t it the same if we address the issues when they’re discovered?
However, Songsong didn’t argue. While it could alter some records, it couldn’t change human memory…
Returning to the car, Zhang Yaowen immediately reported the real situation and described what he had observed.
“Are you saying we should bring her back?” Zhang Yaowen frowned slightly upon hearing this. “I’ll need to negotiate with her again. The girl is quite simple-minded and very patriotic…”
“Idiot, what are you thinking? I just want her to come over so we can discuss how to cooperate,” a voice angrily retorted from the other end, obviously guessing Zhang Yaowen’s thoughts. “We aren’t the type to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs. We’re not like those illegal organizations out there doing shady research. Of course, we take care of our own people…”
After a barrage of scolding, Zhang Yaowen could only smile sheepishly, “It’s just that the girl is quite young, and I don’t want to scare her.”
“Enough with the excuses. I shouldn’t have sent a bunch of big guys like you. Tone down your aura a bit so you don’t frighten her.”
Zhang Yaowen glanced at himself in the rearview mirror and smirked slightly. No wonder the girl seemed a bit shaken when she saw him earlier.
He smiled bitterly and said, “Got it. But you should also be prepared. If she can’t come over, then you’ll have to come here.” Thinking about the mysterious screen and the little creature that claimed to be a “Cross-Dimensional Delivery, Service” Zhang Yaowen felt a headache coming on. What he thought would be a simple mission had turned out to be much more complicated.
He figured they’d probably have to sign several confidentiality agreements again and refresh their understanding of the world.
After a bit more discussion, Zhang Yaowen returned to the rental room. With a friendly expression, he said to Yun Tutu, “Comrade Yun, would it be possible for you and…?”
“It’s called Songsong,” Yun Tutu quickly introduced.
“Hello, Songsong,” Zhang Yaowen said, turning to the screen. “We need to discuss a few things, but this place doesn’t seem very suitable. Could we move to another location?”
Yun Tutu glanced at Songsong, who immediately spoke into her ear, “You decide. Wherever you go, I’ll be there.”
Yun Tutu replied without hesitation, “No problem.”
She wouldn’t have reported this to the higher-ups if she didn’t trust them. Picking up her keys from the table, she suddenly grabbed a bag and started packing the treasures from the bed.
Zhang Yaowen winced slightly at her rough handling.
Not long ago, he had just retrieved some cultural relics, which were carefully protected with multiple layers. If these really were Qin Dynasty artifacts, personally bestowed by the First Emperor, they would be even more valuable than what he had previously recovered. How could she treat them so casually?
He cleared his throat, “Why don’t you let us handle these items?”
If those old scholars were here, they’d probably be heartbroken by now.
Yun Tutu placed the last bronze artifact in the bag and patted it with her hand. “It’s all packed up, and it didn’t take long.”
To her, these were just objects, and since they were personally gifted by the First Emperor, they couldn’t be that fragile.
Zhang Yaowen hurriedly took the bag from her hands, “We’ll handle the heavy lifting. Is there anything else you need to bring?”
Yun Tutu thought for a moment and decided to bring along the bag of gold she had just taken out. When Zhang Yaowen and his team saw the gold ingots, they didn’t argue.
Yun Tutu locked the door behind her and headed straight for her motorcycle.
“Comrade Yun, we have a car here.”
It wouldn’t make sense for several of them to sit in the car while a young girl followed behind on a motorcycle.
Yun Tutu casually tossed the bag into the rear box and smiled, “This bike is very useful.”
Zhang Yaowen recalled something, “How about you sit in the car, and I’ll ride the motorcycle?”
Interestingly, ever since they left the house, the screen had disappeared.
“No need, I’m more familiar with this motorcycle.” Yun Tutu, being somewhat socially anxious, preferred riding her motorcycle over sitting in a car with strangers.
Zhang Yaowen didn’t insist, “We’ll lead the way, and there’s no rush. Take your time.”
Although they were in the same city, Yun Tutu felt as if they had been driving for a long time. When they finally reached an open area, she immediately noticed the difference. The surroundings were filled with cameras, and there were already sentries on guard.
“Songsong, my legs are suddenly feeling weak,” Yun Tutu admitted, embarrassed. As an ordinary citizen without any official ties, she had never encountered such a situation.
“What’s there to worry about? I’m here,” Songsong was initially tempted to tease her but, sensing Yun Tutu’s rapid heartbeat, decided to comfort her instead. It didn’t want her name to become “Yun Tu Tu” (a play on words implying panic).
“If there’s any real danger, I’ll use up all my energy to get you out.”
“That won’t be necessary,” Yun Tutu replied with some confidence. “But you might need to give me some extra courage. I’m afraid I’ll make a fool of myself.”
“Don’t worry,” Songsong reassured her. With a wave, a screen appeared, showing a spacious conference room where a few people were in a meeting. “They’re monitoring you, but I can monitor them too.”
“Really? How did you do that?”
“It’s not hard,” Sonsong said smugly. “I snuck in earlier. Although they’re cautious and made some changes, nothing can stop me.”
“I’ve already listened in on their conversation. What they’re discussing benefits both sides. They seem pretty trustworthy.”
Songsong had its own agenda. If it didn’t think they were reliable, it wouldn’t have agreed to let Yun Tutu make this trip.
