Chapter 59 : Household registration book
Mu Qianqian tilted her head and asked, “Mr. what did you say?”
“Why do you have a bunch of crushed leaves in your pocket?”
Mu Qianqian’s eyes widened in surprise, and she scratched her slightly flushed cheek.
“Uh, that… that was… just something I tore up for fun.”
Fu Sichan looked at the leaves in his hand and frowned.
She managed to play with leaves even during class.
Was she a university student or an elementary school student? She seemed more like an immature child.
“Pay attention in class and stop fiddling around.”
Fu Sichan tossed all the leaves into the trash can.
Mu Qianqian shyly responded with a soft, “Mm.”
If Mr. ever found out that she had been silly enough to use leaves to predict his feelings, he would probably laugh himself silly.
She didn’t even know what was wrong with her, why she was so concerned about Mr.’s matters.
—
In the guest bedroom, Mu Qianqian was on the phone with Li Siyu.
“Qianqian, does your husband know about your family? Doesn’t he look down on you?”
Li Siyu had decided that if Mu Qianqian’s husband showed any sign of disdain, she would unconditionally support Mu Qianqian in divorcing him!
Her best friend shouldn’t have to endure any hardship!
Mu Qianqian sat cross-legged on the bed and nodded.
“He knows already.”
“Does he look down on you because of this?”
“No, he says I shouldn’t feel inferior because of my background. They are who they are, and I am who I am.”
Li Siyu sighed in relief. “He sounds pretty good. A man with that kind of responsibility is rare.”
If it had been one of those ordinary men, they might either doubt Mu Qianqian’s character due to her parents’ greed and laziness or fear being dragged down by her family and hurriedly rid themselves of her as a burden.
Fortunately, Mu Qianqian’s husband wasn’t that kind of person.
Mu Qianqian smiled sweetly, “Yes, Mr. is very good to me.”
“Your husband is older and knows how to be considerate. He’s definitely better than those young guys at our school, haha.”
“Yeah.”
“But Qianqian, has your family found out something recently? Why did they suddenly come to the school looking for you?”
Mu Qianqian shook her head. “I don’t know either.”
She had thought she had escaped that dreadful place and could start a new life.
But her parents’ sudden appearance shattered the illusion she had built up during this time.
How did they even find the school?
“I suspect someone might be stirring things up behind the scenes,” Li Siyu said angrily. “If I catch them, I’ll make sure they regret it!”
With Li Siyu’s support, Mu Qianqian felt a sense of security.
“Si Yu, don’t do anything reckless. I’m afraid you might get into trouble yourself.”
“Don’t worry about it. I know how to handle things.”
“But who could be the one asking Teacher He to look after me?”
“I don’t know either.”
Mu Qianqian thought about it all night but couldn’t come up with an answer.
Oh well, she would think about it more slowly later.
—
At the Mu family home.
Mu Mother, with her hair disheveled and holding her painfully injured arm, cursed angrily.
“That wretched girl must have some tricks up her sleeve. She seems to be living quite well these days!”
The change in Mu Qianqian was so dramatic.
Wearing bright new clothes, with skin as smooth and tender as a peeled egg, she looked so refined and elegant, even more so than the landlord’s daughter!
How could a poor little girl like her afford so much?
Mu Chenghui complained, “Mom, I’ve been working all day outside, and you’re giving me pickled vegetables to eat?”
Mu Father scolded, “You don’t even know how to wash the dishes, They’ve become smelly!”
Mu Chengyao, in a fit of rage, kicked the door. “Why didn’t you wash my shoes? I need them for tomorrow! Damn it, how many times do I have to tell you?”
The three of them were all blaming Mu Mother, who had her arm injured, and she didn’t dare to say a harsh word in front of the three men.
“My arm isn’t working properly, you all should cook something yourself. I’ll do the chores once my arm is better. It’s all that stinky girl’s fault. If she hadn’t run away, would the house be in such a mess?”
Mu Chenghui slammed his chopsticks down and said irritably, “Why don’t we just call the police and bring Mu Qianqian back? Is it really that complicated?”
If Mu Qianqian wasn’t brought back, who would do all the chores around the house?
His dirty clothes and smelly socks had piled up into mountains, and there was no one to help wash them.
“We can’t call the police!”
Mu Father suddenly shouted loudly, startling everyone in the house.
Mu Chenghui , not understanding, asked, “Why not call the police? Even if the police come, Mu Qianqian is on our household registration, so bringing her back should be easy, right?”
“Just don’t call the police. If anyone dares to do so, I’ll break their legs!”
Mu Father’s eyes were fierce, like an angry hyena, and no one dared to argue.
“If you say so, then we won’t report it.”
Eldest Brother Mu, Mu Chenghui, said this, but a calculating glint flashed in his eyes.
He always felt that his parents were hiding something from him.
But he was over twenty now, had never been in a relationship, and the family couldn’t even afford a house.
If things dragged on, he would become a laughingstock of an old bachelor!
He couldn’t wait any longer!
—
Fu Sichan knocked on the door to the guest room. “Hand me your household registration book.”
Mu Qianqian, groggy from sleep, came to open the door and rubbed her eyes.
“Mr. what do you need my household registration book for?”
“Just give it to me first. I’ll tell you later.”
“Okay, sure.”
Mu Qianqian completely trusted him, yawned, and went back to her room to search for the book.
“Here you go, Mr.”
Fu Sichan, however, did not immediately take it.
His deep gaze was fixed on her rounded shoulders.
The little girl had just woken up and looked a bit dazed, her expression cute and endearing. She wore a thin nightgown, with the straps slipping off, revealing her delicate white shoulders.
The subtle allure was most captivating.
“Mr?” Mu Qianqian called out in confusion.
Fu Sichan cleared his throat and shifted his scorching gaze away from her.
“Hmm, give it to me.”
After he left, Mu Qianqian closed the door and was about to change her clothes.
It was then she realized that the straps of her nightgown had almost slid down to her elbows!
Oh no! She had appeared in front of her Mr. like this!
She had apparently… accidentally exposed herself.
Mu Qianqian was so embarrassed she felt like sinking into the floor. She wished she could go back a few minutes and fix her nightgown properly.
Would her Mr. think she was very careless?
The door was knocked on again.
“Why haven’t you come out for dinner?”
Mu Qianqian then realized she had been agonizing over this for quite some time.
“… I’m coming, just a moment.”
With embarrassment and shyness, she slowly walked out of the room.
During dinner, Mu Qianqian felt uneasy and thought her Mr.’s gaze seemed odd.
Even though she was now dressed properly, she couldn’t shake off the discomfort from this morning’s exposure.
Did her Mr…. see it after all?
