{“The backseat of the Maybach late at night” 1}
“Of course.”
Yu Suye’s tone was gentle and affectionate.
How could she bear to refuse such a cute child, especially when the little one was so distressed and asking for her help?
The child’s face was timid, as if she knew she shouldn’t be on this side of the balcony. Her eyes, still red from recent tears, were filled with longing. Her pink scarf was stained with dirt, and though she wanted to approach, she hesitated, fearful that Yu Suye might reject her.
Yu Suye didn’t hesitate to offer her smile. She quickly pulled the drenched little girl into the dorm, while Bian Yixing obediently stayed behind her, seemingly not yet ready to meet others.
For a moment, Yu Suye forgot all the dormitory regulations about “no outsiders allowed.”
She simply thought that even the wealthiest have their struggles, otherwise, this little girl wouldn’t have left her big house to seek refuge in their old dormitory from the 90s.
The other roommates, who had already gotten into bed, came out one by one.
The dorm leader turned the hot water heater back on.
Qi Mei took out an illegal small heater she hadn’t dared to use for a long time and warmed the little girl. No one immediately questioned Yu Suye about her relationship with the child.
Yu Suye, receiving a warm towel from the dorm leader, calmly explained, “I found a tutoring job today, and Yixing just happens to be the child from that job.”
Seeing Bian Yixing remain silent, Yu Suye deliberately avoided mentioning the child’s surname to spare her some trouble.
Qi Mei earnestly said, “Aren’t the child’s parents going to be worried sick?”
Bian Yixing, who had initially appeared as a timid, pitiful little deer, suddenly spoke up with frustration, “My dad wouldn’t care!”
She accused, “He doesn’t like me at all and doesn’t want me to be his daughter.”
The little one started sobbing, struggling for breath as she spoke.
Her beautiful eyes were clouded with tears of sadness.
The other female students, having never seen such a display before, felt an overwhelming surge of maternal instinct.
“Yixing, don’t cry. I have candy for you.”
“Don’t be sad, Yixing. Don’t punish yourself for the mistakes of adults.”
“Yixing, you’re the sweetest and most understanding girl I’ve ever met. Even if your dad doesn’t like you, I like you.”
Yixing felt she had cried enough.
She decided to stop when she realized she was out of energy and didn’t want to disturb the others who were trying to rest.
Clenching her little fists, she said to herself, “One, two, three, Yixing, you can do it!”
After counting, the crying stopped instantly.
Her face once again radiated the innocence and cheerfulness of her age, with only her slightly red nose left as evidence of her “runaway.”
The female students, including Yu Suye, were astonished by Yixing’s actions. It was their first time seeing a child self-soothe in this manner.
Yu Suye, who had a younger brother close in age to Yixing, had never seen such a lively and adorable expression on him. Not to mention, her brother was always demanding toys.
Unable to resist, she knelt down to wipe the rain from Yixing’s forehead and gently rubbed her head.
Unexpectedly, the child recognized her, “Yu Yu, why are you so thin?”
Not only could she call out her own name, but she could also see her true “thinness,” which made the dorm leader delighted, fever thinking about what her figure would be like years later.
Yu Suye was puzzled, wondering how Yixing knew about her roommates or even the school without her mentioning it.
But her puzzlement was short-lived.
The commotion from Yixing’s arrival attracted the dorm manager, who knocked on the door in the middle of the night.
Yu Suye swiftly grabbed the child and took her to the bathroom, while the others answered the door calmly.
Despite feeling nervous, holding the soft little girl made Yu Suye feel warm. The child unconsciously snuggled closer.
Yu Suye’s heart melted.
She heard the conversation outside.
“Did someone just come in?”
“A little squirrel appeared earlier and scared us all, but it’s gone now.”
“Yes, it was a false alarm.” They all said in unison.
The campus environment of J University is very good in terms of ecology, so squirrels often appear there. Everyone in the school is used to it.
The dorm manager didn’t suspect anything and left after advising them to be cautious in the future.
Yu Suye noticed that after all this commotion, Yixing was quite exhausted.
Yixing kept rubbing her sleepy eyes. Yu Suye placed her in the largest plastic basin in the dorm, adjusted the water temperature, and gently washed her. Afterwards, to avoid Yixing catching a cold, Yu Suye wrapped her in a warm towel Qi Mei had secretly dried.
After cleaning her, the little girl’s face revealed its full beauty—smooth skin, curled eyelashes, and perfectly balanced features.
She could easily grace the cover of any baby magazine.
The entire dorm marveled at Yixing’s beauty.
Yixing gratefully glanced at everyone. However, Yu Suyue noticed that the little girl’s gaze towards her was different. The girl’s slightly open eyes lingered on her, and deep within her pupils, it wasn’t gratitude that was reflected, but rather an almost innate trust.
Yu Suye, who had been busy all night, thought that since Yixing was her student and had helped resolve her own dilemma, she should place Yixing on her bed rather than trouble others.
However, there was another development in the dorm.
It turned out that not only was there a hidden heater in the dorm, but the dorm leader also had an electric blanket.
Yu Suyue finally carried the child over to her, and the dorm leader, looking completely satisfied and not at all tired, began to try to soothe the baby to sleep. As for the little one’s expression, how should I describe it? At first, there was a bit of resistance, but later, perhaps because the leader’s bed was just too warm, the baby drifted into sleep with a sweet smile.
As the night fell and the rain continued to pour, Yu Suye received a brief message on her phone.
“Come out.”
